Shoot, I didn't know that when you preordered mattered for when you got to play. If I ordered just a couple days ago do you think I'll be able to play by Friday? I was really looking forward to totally nerding out all next weekend..
Also, here is a pretty good review from someone who has put a ton of hours into most of the big MMOs that have come out over the years - it's a review of the end game content as it is right now:

What do you mean by you received a letter confirming it? Like bioware emailed you saying that access starts Tuesday?

i expect that most preorders will be able to play by the 15th, and almost everyone by the 18th. But who knows, maybe they are really anal with letting only early preorder people enjoy the headstart, the servers should be able to handle my scenario.

I've preordered the game today extremely excited after long deliberation should I sink myself into another MMO, but now I am confuses as hell. I have no idea which class to choose. I've spend last 3 hours browsing the web, swtor official class trailers and youtube gameplay movies and I'm even more confused Now my question is, if I pick a class and a specialization for example Sith Soccerer, what is my wiggle room. obviously I can't change the class, I can respec my talent tree, however am I able to respec to a Sith Assasin?

You cant change your Advanced Class only your skill trees. So no Assassin you just pick whatever class you like ^^ but most people will play Inquisitor. I did link a great faq 1-2 pages back :o

I got to play some beta, and unless they change it, you are stuck as a sorcerer or assassin..
What i'd suggest is decide what your primary interest is, Healer / DPS / Tank.
For DPS you can be any of the 4 classes and any of the 8 sub classes.
Tanks and Healers are a little trickier. What decided it for me, I looked more at their weapons.
Sith Warrior , Juggernaut uses 1 single blade lightsaber as tank or dps. Sith Warrior, Marauder uses 2 single blade lightsabers as dps.
Bounty Hunter, Powertech uses 1 gun as tank or dps Bounty Hunter, Mercenary uses 2 guns as dps or healer
Sith Inquisitor, Assassin uses double bladed lightsaber as tank or dps Sith Inquisitor, Sorcerer uses 1 single bladed lightsaber as healer or dps
Imperial Agent, Operative uses rifle and dagger as dps or healer Imperial Agent, Sniper uses sniper rifle and dagger as dps
Ultimately you could of found this all out already, but this is what helped me decide, I really care what I look and play like in this game, also keep in mind when I say dps, it could be melee, ranged or caster you'll have to look into that.

I already know that, I went deeper, thinking about a tank character, checked the skill calculators at torhead and saw that Sith Assasin is basically a WoW rogue with cheap shot, kidney shot, sap, backstab, vanish etc etc. I'm thinking about tank/dps, sith with light saber, I am only left with Sith Juggernaut if I don't want a rogue So maybe healer ? I don't know, I am so confused. I guess I will lose few days just playing classes to 20ish lvl to check them out.

Sith Assassins also have a tanking tree (Darkness). Lots of defensive talents, no positional attack buffs. From what I hear, their tanking "aptitude" differs from the Jugg a bit too-- they are really good at keeping threat on packs, while the Jugg has fewer abilities to generate multi-target threat. But that's all second-hand scuttlebutt, so take it with a healthy pinch of salt.

Does anyone know how theyre going to make weapons look unique or will they all just look like lightsabers and stuff?

I have thought about this too, i guess they could make really rare colours? sorta like black and stuff (like Force Unleashed)

you still can craft and use vibroblades ect. later but its kinda strange for forceusers :D

A lightsaber will always look like a lightsaber. I once bought a rare quality lightsaber from commendation tokens, it looked just like your starting lightsaber, but with better stats.
But honestly dont expect to yield huge axes that blink in light or pistols of the size of your helmet.
|
Yeah. No guns the size of your effing torso. Unless you're a Commando, but those guys are freaking baller, and they're basically wielding artillery.
Anywho, sabers have changeable color crystals (most of which have stats). The available colors include commonly seen ones (red, blue, green, orange, yellow), the Windu Special (purple), black-core crystals (like the preorder crystal, which is yellow with a black core; also blue w/black core is available), and new, supremely awesome colors (white and cyan both look sexy as shit).
Many of these can be gathered from a quick torhead.com search, or seen in PVP videos. Do a youtube search for 'swtor 50 pvp' and you'll find some eye-goodies to look at.
As far as the hilts go, I'm not sure how distinctive they look. While I hope for some variety, the blade is really where the aesthetic action is.

Are you sure the Assasin can tank? I was under the impression it was DPS only

They have a skill tree devoted to it, called "Darkness". The only classes which cannot fulfill the Tank role (strictly speaking) are the Agent and the Smuggler.
EDIT: Here. http://www.torhead.com/skill-calc#200.1

Assassins have a tanking tree. They can tank if they want to, if not they go dps. Just because he's called an assassin doesn't mean he has to be a rogue, stealth and giggles.
The difference between the 3 tanking classes are the stats and ways of tanking. Juggernauts have the best endurance, Assassins have best mitigation, Powertechs have best avoidance.
Obviously ranged tanking is new so I cant comment much about it, juggernauts are like protection warriors and assassins are like protection paladins, in terms of aggro management. Powertechs are like druids/dks.

assassins are perfectly viable tanks, they even have force pull.
dont the lightsabers have different handles? If not, then i guess colors and core-colors must be enough to make endgame lightsabers look unique.
|
Oh wow I was just mistaken then. That's kinda cool actually that they can tank as well.
|
the tank tree from the Assasin is mostly based on absorbs of your lightsabercharge.its quite funny and more action oriented tanking than WoW,in my opinion, and i tanked much stuff. that beeing said, fasthitting bosses or druids are quite dangerous due to their ability to remove your charges quite fast.(and believe me you get hit hard if you dont have charges left, which leaves you in a state of vulnerability and much inc. dmg until your charges-cd comes up again.) you get a taunt ability relatively early (at about 15 i think) with a 15 sec cd. Single target threat is somewhat of a problem but gets better in the later stages. The aoe ability from the Assasin is kind of limited till 30 on which point you get the Masstaunt ability, altough you can unleash your lightsabercharge to do a aoe threat ability which is quite nice but on the other hand removes cc,if you are not careful. the Juggernaut on the other hand is more of a "constant less incoming dmg" tank. More armor, much single target threat abilitys, good gapclosers,etc...so he will probably be the Maintank for slower hardhitting bosses, but cant really say so until the operations. P.S.:i tanked in the beta all flashpoints up to Cademimu with lvl 28-30 which was really hard at 28,but then got resolved at around 30.so the 2 more lvls made quite the difference. + Show Spoiler +The Wookie Boss from Cademimu with the "dwarven army" was my personal highlight of the beta, have to giggle if i think about him
