It's low on the list of my priorities to purchase. After playing so many MMOs, I just can't get myself to invest the time I used to that made them fun for me. SWTOR is just a generic MMO with badass dialogue to me. It doesn't seem like it has that finishing touch it needs to satisfy me fully. Don't get me wrong though, leveling to 15 on 3 different classes was a breathe of fresh air.

I agree, especially with the bolded part. Right now i have a mindset that i would just to play the game for the dialogue/story which i already started in the beta. It was great and i want to finish it. But i doubt and i know(military service&studies T_T), i don't have the time next year to play this as much as i played WoW back in the day.

I am pretty sure the story goes strong past level 15 (I could be wrong). I'm interested in playing every class, unlike other generic MMOs where I have played one character and a few alt characters. That's something that has drawn me to the game and put the game at the top of my list ^_^. I don't play a lot of expensive (60$+ games) besides Blizzard games so that's why I'm able to say this is at the top of my list.

These kinds of glaring issues should not be in the game still =/ Ok, I watched the video, the only thing that it did for me is to get me pumped to play a commando. Footage seems like it's around lvl 20 +, to witch no that many people got, and that kind of graphic glitches + animation stutters happened to me even in wow after 7 years of development, it's normal for a MMO that big. I don't get why you are on a such a crusade on this game. So, I was curious, because I played skyrim, found quite a bit of bugs and things that drove me mad there, and you seemed like a guy who played it so I browsed your post history and noticed that you happen love it. Well, you seem to play it quite a bit, and you must be insanely lucky to not be annoyed by the bugs and interface in that game, since I played it (30 h more or less) and even I found the game entertaining, I was really annoyed by those things. Much more than in this game (in witch I did not encounter any bugs the whole time I played (under heavy server load and around the same play time). You also found this game bland and not worth it story wise, tho I personally found both of my class story lines for the 2 classes I played more enveloping than drangonborn storyline in Skyrim, and that's not just me, a lot of players and people reviewing it find the Skyrim's story it's weakest point. Sorry if this all seams creepy, but you are relentlessly bashing something I like, I'm bored and I wanted to know why. You're comparing an experience in Skyrim, what is supposed to be a singleplayer RPG and can be heavily personalized with mods and is really only supposed to last ~40 hours or so, to SWTOR, an MMO with millions of people playing at once, a game in which I am expected to pay $15/mo ($180/yr) along with $60 initially, and another $60 per expansion pack that comes out and meant to last hundreds of hours. They aren't comparable. Please stop comparing them. EDIT: I also found the story in Skyrim lackluster as fuck. I found it fun as a game, but the story was total ass honestly. Just thought I would give you an FYI, an expansion costs about 20-30$ on almost every MMO not 60. I went to Gamestop the other day to return some old Xbox games, and I saw Cataclysm. Not the pack, just Cataclysm* and it was $36 on sale, so long after it's been released. That's crap and you know it. http://www.amazon.com/World-Warcraft-Cataclysm-Pc/dp/B002I0HKIU/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1322700780&sr=8-1Yep, total crap. Gamestop is ripping you off man! Dont go there! I don't think you know how to into sales. You should learn though, that limited time 40% off deals don't make a substantial argument
And I think you know shit about how amazon works. It's not like games have something similiar to the Fixed Book Price Law (dont even know if you Americans have that). So amazon stuff is always "on sale". Also we could start to argue that if you preorder that strange "low price guarantee" kicks in with amazon and you will get it cheaper at release (I got a 30€ SC2 at release that way (compared to the 50-55€)). Also there are shitton of other sellers who have reduced prices.
Amazon UK and Amazon DE both have a (equivalent) ~20$ price. And there is nothing about a "list price" mentioned there or "special time offer".
If you honestly think that you'd need to pay 40$ (or even 30$+) in the near future for Cataclysm ... well ... keep paying way more money at gamestop. Because that phenonem is not unique to Cataclysm... Seems like you're actuall the guy who has way too much money

Obviously can't make a full judgement about content, but I don't think SWTOR will be enough to get me into an MMO again (played WoW for a couple years). Having an MMO set in the Star Wars universe is probably the best part for me; having a lightsaber, chilling on Corsucant, all that was pretty cool. 15$/mo. subscription ultimately kills it though, I don't want to commit to having to play a game all the time to justify the money. BW should have gone with a League of Legends style microtransaction system for cosmetic content; they would still clean up and also avoid putting the entire success or failure of the game on the line within the first few months. It will probably have more success than other WoW competitors based on Star Wars IP, but I doubt a lot of people will continue to play once they get through the leveling process once or twice. WoW was the exception to the norm, it didn't create a new finance model for game devs to try and follow. For most people $15 a month is a very affordable expense and you do not need to be playing every waking hour to get your money's worth. This. For the same price of going to the movies once, you can get countless hours of fun gametime! Some people can't afford it i know, but most can, even poor peeps like me. The question is not whether or not you can afford it, the question is whether or not you are getting $180 worth of content every year to warrant that cost. And don't pull "server costs" on me. Server costs in this day in age are a minimum, we see that more and more from finance reports and shit being released by companies to their investors. Server costs are not at all what they used to be. Unless I'm getting $180 worth of content every year, $15/mo is a fucking rip off and I refuse to play any game that does it without said amount of content. Not to mention if you pay that kind of money for a game, you are basically forced to play it ridiculous amounts just to get your moneys worth out of it. The more you play, the more your money is worth in it all. I don't like that. If it's your thing, go for it. I personally can never do that, however. I dont care about the server costs, and what the money is being put towards or w/e... its the fact is it worth 15 dollars a month.... thats 50 cents a day. I probably lose 1.50 in change in the couch everyday. If you played 30 hours a month, which most people would probably play more, thats only 50 cents an hour. I would have no problem spending 50 cents for an hour of good entertainment. Then you are very wasteful with your money if you are so willingly throwing it around mindlessly without a care in the world. I honestly can not fathom how someone can justify to themselves spending $180 a year to play a game they already bought when they are getting no new content of any substantiation. Furthermore, any actual major content (an "expansion") costs $40 anyways. The only reasoning I get back when this is brought up is either some variation of "Stop being poor" or "I can afford to throw money mindlessly away, so I don't mind that I'm being ripped off" So if you can shed some actual light other than "I got so much money I don't mind" of why you think it's okay for people to still have to pay almost two big ones every year for essentially the same game, and even more when they get major content updates. Don't bother delving into the semantics of how much every hour is worth or whatever. That's not what I'm asking. I'm asking why you think it's justifiable to charge people to initially buy a game, charge them for content updates, and charge them almost $200 every year just to play the game they already bought -- otherwise they are locked out. Saying it costs 180 dollars a year or w/e is just your way to try and make it look like it is more money than it really is, No, that's me saying how much money it ACTUALLY is. ._. Again with the arbitrary comparisons. You aren't getting $180 worth of content every year, unless you think some scattered instances here and there are worth $180. Therefore, you're being ripped off or you're being purposely wasteful, or you simply don't care. Take your pick. To use your analogy. When you buy $15 of vodka, you are getting $15 of vodka. When I buy a $60 game, I get $60 worth of content. Unless in that next 365 days where I pay subscription I get an extra $180 worth of content, I am being ripped off. It's that simple, honestly. There's no two ways about it. MMO's are obviously not for you. You do not need to try and convince everyone that they are idiots for thinking its worth the money.
Actually I enjoy MMO's quite a bit -- that's why I'm looking forward to a certain Buy-to-Play MMO
I'm sorry for offending all of your precious views on video games. I'll leave the thread, as it appears this is getting -way- too heated on the topic of a video game
I do hope you enjoy your time on this game
All money spent on fun is money well spent, it's just not for me to spend that kind of money for these games.

Now this is just sad =/
You tried to show me with an amazon link that these games were ~$20. It said quite clearly on the link initially provided that the list price was $40, and there was a $16 sale on the game. So you start linking me games from Amazon in different currencies that fit your profile.
You're arguing semantics while missing the point of my post -- they charge you money monthly for the game but still charge you a substantial amount for extra content. That's the last on this topic however, it's not meant for this thread. If you feel it's worth discussing further, take it to PM and I'll gladly continue.

ok, so with your logic:
15$ of vodka is worth about 15$ of vodka because thats what it costs to make it plus some profit. 15$ of swtor is worth 100000000$ or whatever their production value is, because that is what it costs to craft that experience for you.
well, whatever. I pay 30 euro for a moderate night in a bar or 4 euro just to swim for an hour these days, i can justify 15$ per month for a game.

I'm going through withdrawal here too :< at least I got pre-order and only have to wait 2 weeks.

Me jelly. I got one invite through the whole thing and that was last weekends where basically everyone got invited anyway T_T. Its probably good I didn't get in this one though as then my withdrawal would come back in stronger force after it went down
