A lot of people will focus on things and throw them in like they are negatives. 'It's just WoW in the Star Wars universe' - And? Take the most popular MMO and stick it in Star Wars lore, sign me up!? 'Combat is too slow' - So you cannot one shot people without them being able to do something, that's a GOOD thing imo! 'Its boring/ grindy' - I found the story pretty good, could have some replay value light/dark differences. Grindy? That's MMO's ![]() 'The graphics are not as good as Skyrim' - Of course not, you wouldn't get 100 people playing on Skyrim without it blowing up. Overall, I liked it a lot. I hadn't pre ordered but am going to now. Looking forward to it coming out <3

Sure the storyline is better and the quest are more interactive but that is literally the only difference. I played to a lvl 30 sith warrior and pvp actually felt WORSE then wow. Maybe its just me but the thing i enjoy about mmo's is being able to get the best gear and then go kill everyone in pvp. If the pvp is'nt fun i really don't think the MMO is fun. I used sith jump into the fight and it felt exactly like warrior charge, and everything that followed after that was just like "wow, this is exactly like WoW". Very dissapointed to say the least. And WoW was basically just a copy of Everquest. They are not trying to reinvent the genre here. Why re-invent when you can take some insanely successful features, re work them a little bit, add some production value and call it good! Because MMO players are losing interest in WoW-like MMO now. People want something new in MMOs, most of them played WoW for 5 years. That's why i'm waiting for GW2 and not for SWTOR. I have nothing against the game, the RPG elements in it look awsome ( so many class related quests, where they totaly abandonned them in WoW ) but in the end, the story and quests ain't enough to forgive a pretty boring gameplay.

WoW was the first in his genre, yeah that's true. But in NO WAY this game is comparable to WoW. All MMO's have the same basics (quests, skills etc...) but the gameplay is completely different. There is a much deeper story/questline in game and for each of the classes you have specific class quests besides the normal 'planet' quests. If you compare a cartoon like MMO like WoW to a story/movie based MMO like Star Wars, then for me you are retarded and you shouldn't even test the game. Your opinion is purely based on what you saw in WoW and what you see in SWTOR. That is not how you judge a game. It's like comparing Battlefield 3 to Call of Duty Modern Warfare 4. Both war games, but both completely different styles. Then we can start doing the same with WoW and GW2. They're also both WoW-like so they suck? That's not how you should be reasoning. Besides that, I leveled to about 20 on beta this weekend and I found it great. Flashpoints are great to do, I loved the spaceship combat. Haven't tested PvP yet, but i have pre-ordered the game so will be able to test it out in a few weeks.

This game is different. From the first quest i was hooked into the characters and story and i couldnt wait to get more of it. Dialogues with party members were also amazing, they laughed at me because my superior treated me like a piece of shit. It just feels like i mean something here. Only Gripe with the game i have is the game performance itself, which should, given the graphics of this game, run a lot smoother on my comp. Also the phasing system was very annoying. we tried to tackle a heroic quests with a full group but half of our party members were in another instance of the world and the game didnt allow them to phase. Im happy i preordered this game. I dont know if i will still be playing when Diablo 3 will be released but this is going to be a very fun christmas for me

Its a bit odd. I played mainly with low settings, but did actually test out medium and high and it made no huge difference to my performance. Not saying I disbelieve you or your pc sucks or anything, just finding it odd :D Could be something to do with graphics drivers or whatever, I don't know. I know I can play Battlefield 3 somehow with my horrible setup and someone with much better specs had issues mainly due to drivers (iirc). Hopefully it all works great when it comes out ![]() Edit - changed a word ![]()

In fact WoW took a lot of features from Everquest and just improved on it and kept adding own stuff as well as stuff from later games. No they do not, only since WoW all the "big" MMOs try to emulate it as much as possible which is why you might have this impression. There are a few very different MMOs out there, and before WoW there used to be much more variety in MMOs. SWTOR might have a very extensive dialog system tacked onto the questing, but under that are still the very same mechanics, combat, skills and classes like in WoW. And that's why people can easily compare the two. Personally, I'm fed up with these kind of games. I've played MMOs since 1997 and played WoW for 4 or 5 years at which point it got boring.. all the big titles after it just left me bored after the first month, due to the fact there is very little difference to WoW.

A MMO has to have some communication. @CHINA Try a VPN/Proxy. Lol @ "server communities." The only server community you had was 2-4 players who grouped multiple times because they didn't suck. You get the same thing from guild runs. You can do that if you want, but quests are weighted to the extreme. In an area, you may get 80 xp from a group of mobs, and 7000 xp from the quest. You will become rich though.

Because MMO players are losing interest in WoW-like MMO now. People want something new in MMOs, most of them played WoW for 5 years. Thats bullshit! People don't want something new. There can't be something new. MMOs are MMOs - they will always have the same basics. And WoW is so bad, because its so hardcore casual since Mid-FailKing that the game is absolutly no fun anymore. SWTOR gives you new motivation to see all classes/dungeons and raids. I played 3 Chars to 35-39 from August to October and never had so much fun in the last 3 years, even in a really bad beta-build. i dont like solo questing in MMOs, i dont know why anyone would do it. Play the Beta! The Game forces you to join Grps, because in every questzone there're alot of 4+ Heroic-Quests, which need a grp and give decent rewards.

That said, I did enjoy my time over the weekend. The storylines are pretty great and I'm looking forward to playing more of those at launch, these are obviously this game's defining feature and it does those pretty well. I don't know how others felt, but I felt the non-Force-user ones were way more interesting, which seemed a little ironic. They may have taken on this huge existing universe but in the end it seems Bioware will always be best at what they can completely make up themselves. For me personally it'll depend on what they do next with it that'll decide how long my adventures in their game will take. In a game like this I really feel like raids/endgame aren't the main attraction (more of the same is still more of the same), but considering how long Blizzard with all their resources/experience take to patch new stuff in.. well I don't know. It looks like we'll have some fun with what we already have however and that's the main thing right?

Just because I'm Zerg I bet, that's specieist that is. The reason WoW was actually so good is because they did new things (hush they did, in the beginning) and refined what they took elsewhere really well. For any game to ever have such an impact again, it can't just copy what WoW already has. That doesn't mean all those other games are bad games, but it does mean they will be disappointing for some. Denying that won't change it.

It may not be the greatest thing since sliced bread; but it is changing A LOT about the genre and really has potential. Well, im not an mmo expert but there are games like EVE online, face of mankind, darkfall, vindictus, entropia universe and secondlife that differ greatly from wow. Im not sure what to expect from gw2 but it doesnt seem like a game that can be considered a "wow clone". Just because wow has become the stablestone for all other mmo's to measure, it doesnt mean every mmo is like it (though i do agree that warhammer online, rift, aion and lotslots games are extremely similiar to it).

The game was pretty different and enjoyable wouldnt it be for a few crucial mistakes that completely ruined the game for everyone at the highest levels. Rift was good and promising, but at the last minute they did a 180 and introduced global cooldown and watered down classes in fear of alienating the big WoW playerbase.
