A simple little graphics comparison done in 1080 on a decent rig. Should give people a idea what each setting by itself does and what it changes and how it looks. Performance wise every setting alone did not effect my frame rate at all (110fps always) untill setting everything to high which resulted in 76fps. I think the games max is 110 but im not 100% sure on that.
Overall I hope this helps people decide if turning that one setting up is worth it or not. And if a upgrade would even be worth it. I have gotten used to running maxed but if I had only ever played on low I dont think I would feel all that left out, Still a very decent looking game. I think for overall feel turning grass & tress to 100% and shaders and shadows to high would be best. bloom,af dont seem to have much of an effect. I wonder how much better the game would have looked with the full high res textures we now know are being withheld from us
COMPUTER SPECS

afaik this game has no dx11 support, so my 4year old rig plays everything on max aswell on smooth 55-75 fps. i just slid everything to max and it's lighter than every game i have loaded past 2 years. i just dislike bloom effect by experience so it is off always, dunno how taxing it is on the performance.
on the other hand my friend with 560ti and i5 has 30 fps max with shadows off cause his prebuilt alienware pc wont let him update nvidia drivers.
so if you think an expensive pc is needed for this game plz dont go buy one just for this. i have a q9550 at stock 3.2ghz and a gtx280 at 690/1100 , with windows xp 32bit and i play this game on 60 fps like 95% of the time. the only place i get fps drops is the pvp quest board on imperial fleet cause evidently it loads the animations of 80 people queuing/giving back the quest. at least in pvp/instances/class quests and exploring the world i am always above my monitor refresh rate

Right now, I will just finish the class-stories for my Juggernaut&Saboteur and if the Endgame is still that boring I won't pay for another month.
Dude, there is a level 50 bracket AND the non-RNG gear being added this month
I still see no motivation in PvP, the Itemscaling is ridiculous. Illum is dead and a Daily-Quest only zone and the PvE Content ist the most time waste in a long time. If BioWare doesn't put out HUGE changes to the endgame until January 20th, 80% of players will don't touch this game again and it will be like Aion or LotRO.
Leveling was alot of fun but at Maxlevel there is absolutly no conent beside doing boring dailies in PvP or PvE.

Sounds like WoW? Except that leveling there is hardly as fun as in Swtor .

Its exactly like every other MMO out there.
At 50, you do dungeons, raids, pvp and dailies to grind reputation or whatever in either PvE or PvP.
Retarded valour medal awards system. Unresponsinves + animation. Level 10 characters pvping with level 50's. No ranked matches. World PvP not existant. User interface totally not suited for PvP. (actually user interface not suited for anything part leveling) Severe design problems (Biochem or gtfo will be best example) Balance problems (those actually can be forgiven couse its relase)
Yes pvp in this game is good couse Capped tells so.

You obviously aren't doing dailies on illum. Not that I like world PVP (or pvp in general), but there is a shitload going on on our server (restoration zone EU DE). Also, as soon as you hit the levels where reps and imps share questing areas there is a lot of ganking - at least more than I'm used from WoW

You just dont like MMO's then?
Whats a daily quest or a dungeon?

There's certainly room to be creative in the MMO world, though I wish more people would incorporate successes of games like eve into their dev plans. You know like having a functional economy/crafting system, or at the very least embrace that you made an MMO and stop finding ways of separating players from other players.
/also the post you quoted, is virtually all red squiggles on my screen, an impressive feat.
Yeah this game doesn't seem to have a very vibrant PvP scene, but I think there is potential. It needs time to develop, for sure. I'm just making it my personal mission to kill Republic scum any time I see them, hopefully it encourages growth

I'm just gonna go WAAAAY out there and propose this idea (brace yourselves)
Make PvP be important to the entire realm and world you're a part of, not just for your own personal gain to grind valor for better loot.
DAoC did this, they didnt need to add any more raid bosses that are fun just once.
All they did was create a everchanging, dynamic pvp system and zone that was different every single time you played it.
Thats a billion times the content any pve exansion WoW has ever had. My gosh if only mmo devs realized this. So much money to be saved if the players become the content
I feel really sorry for the new generation mmo players who has only experienced instanced, static and grindy pvp gameplay and use that as their only reference point when arguing over how good the pvp in a game is :I

It was that way in Lineage 2 aswell, leveling was constant gank fest connected with fighting with other players over spots. Politics were important, castle lords had impact on what mobs you would grind. From what i heard latest chronicle in L2 turned into total crap tho, since they basicly made player killing forbidden and removed crafting from game.
Closest thing to what you describe currently is EvE i think.
Daoc had 3 realms. With only 2 factions every "world changing" pvp system is doomed to fail, because of massive population imbalance. Sure you can buff the outnumbered, or limit the amount of people allowed to enter, but those are just bad design options, which try to cover the underlying fault.
Also I want to whine a bit about the crafting system: "You already have this schemantic" while reverse engineering is the most disappointing message ever... especially when you consider that no such message shows when learning an already known recipe from a plan (oh and you actually use & lose the plan in those cases^^).

The problem is that Eve is also unbelievably boring to many people.

No! WoW had alot of motivation in Vanilla and TBC. SWTOR doesnt have that! There needs to be something to work on at maxlevel! I cleared the bugged heroics, I cleared the bugged operations, I have seen enough of bugged PvP... motivation gone! There is just no point in doing heroics/raids/pvp. The endgame is so bad that you are full-epic after 1 day at maxlevel and heroic-gear = raidgear. Would be better if you only got Blue Gear in Heroics and Operations had only one Difficulty (=Nightmare). I saw all the Encounters now and no one has the motivation to clear the same operations in Nightmare, when the only difference are the boss hp/dps scaled up. If the game were much harder, there would be content left to motivate for.
And I don't think BioWare will make the game much harder, so WoW has destroyed the MMO Genre for Non-Casuals.
