Licensing issues means that it probably won't come stateside (different companies own the rights to tatsunoko's animes over here). There's a hori fighting stick for Wii though, it's pretty nifty with virtual console/legal emulator. The biggest problem though is that Wii's are region specific, meaning that you'll need to either import a Wii, use Twilight hack to load homebrew and use Geckoloader, or use Freeloader which requires you to have 3.2 firmware or lower which means you might have to downgrade somehow.

ahh yeah, I'm almost done finishing up my custom stick. I'll get some photos up tomorrow hopefully!

kanwoo has uploaded 5 videos (so far) from August 13th showing Henboku's SBO-winning Lilica.

Sayuu (Love CA) vs Henboku (Love LIL) - Nice match.

Takumi (Love YO) vs Henboku (Love LIL) - This Yoriko can't even do pentagrams. =P

春ぴー (Love HE) vs Henboku (Love LIL) - Not fond of this Heart, but watch for Henboku's 4-super combo in the last round where he uses THREE Super Love Lasers in a single combo! Heart starts with a little over half life and despite her "guts" (damage reduction) from low-life, she almost dies from this combo!

ASA (Sacred KA) vs Henboku (Love LIL) - In 1st round, did ASA ground cross-up with Uruma on Henboku's wake-up? Sick. That's like crossing up with a blanka ball on someone's wake-up.

Alan White (Dark SA) vs Henboku (Love LIL) - Henboku's defense > Alan White's offense.

It seems like all of his combos deal at least ~40% from full-life, and with 3 (or even 4!) supers he can get over 50%. And these combos don't seem to require any special setups or positioning: seems like almost every time the opponent gets hit, if Henboku has full homing they lose 40%-50%!

IMO he plays kind of like J from AH1: very solid, non-reckless Lilica with A+ defense. But his offense reminds me of Tono from AH1: very difficult to block, S-rank. Combined with his S++ damage output, I'm no longer surprised he beasted his way through SBO.

I started listening to the podcasts done by gootecks, they're actually prety interesting. so far i think my favorite part had nothing to do with strategy but was really about pyro talking about the development of his SF III career in the first 20 minutes of the first podcast

This is a bit random, but can anyone give me pointers as to how to choose a character in Guilty Gear AC? This my first 2d-fighter with air dash I've played. I just (finally) got it and I've been messing around with instant air dashes and stuff since I play Storm/Curleh Mustache, but I have almost no idea what I'm doing outside of pretty basic combos. I was watching some match vids online and so far Slayer seems the most appealing to me since he looks like he plays like a beefy magneto. Other than that, my Blurien is pretty beasty and spiral's my best character in MvC2, and Testament and Venom both looked like they were more suited to that style of play.

Anyways, once I get a character, what parts of guilty gear are the most different from Marvel/3rd strike? I was playing against some vets and my okizeme is pretty, and my air dash-ins are alright, but do cross-ups work the same way in GGAC as marvel? In some Chipp vids, I saw him oki jump in, faultless defense into a weird cross-up type thingy. with Sol/standard type dudes do you just jump cancel pokes into high-low strings?

christ this game is too complex. If anyone has any websites/forums other than dustloop/srk help a brotha out.

Hmm I found an interesting video, this Cat in the vid wins a game with the same kind of thing. It's like he bursts then uses the wind arcana blaze and it hits them boom down. I thought it was just lols then when he faced another Elsa he did it again and it worked. Wassup here!? I knew the first one could hit cause El was already doing that super, but then the other ones were like wat. Does that particular arcana blaze just freeze everything?

If you're IADing in whenever you feel like, your opponents aren't very good at the game lol. Way too easy to punish IAD if you're looking for it, especially if they try to do a string into IAD.
Basically just pick whoever appeals to you. GG is different enough from whatever games that experience in other games mostly just helps in general terms and not in the specifics, so characters you played in other games don't necessarily mean jack squat for your GG character selection.

Dustloop is your best bet- you just need to know who to ask, and it always helps to be specific with questions. I can help with a lot of general pointers once you have a character you're going to stick with.

Saya-
Tempestas Arcana Blaze is instant after superfreeze and travels really fast. If they're far away enough, they might be able to block after the freeze if they weren't doing anything, but generally burst -> summon is a good distance to tag a lot of things.

aww man, I'm liking the new fighters coming out. edit: that trailer is HAWT! I like that goth-loli Alucard chick. Can't wait till it comes out. Is it confirmed for PS3 yet?

As for GGAC, I've pretty much decided I'm gonna play Eddie. I like the shadow-setups and unblockables, his concept plays a lot like the characters I use in other fighters even though the games play nothing alike -__- Right now I'm learning his blockstun stall gatlings and different shadow setups. I can FRC far drill around 75% of the time now, but I'm still having spacing my block chains so that it lands. Do you know any good Eddie players on youtube I could check out?

A little off-topic, but Nytefish was asking me about Hori joysticks and I decided I should post my answers here since they might help others.

Basically, he was wondering what the difference is between a Hori Fighting Stick (the little $50 ones) and an HRAP. Also, he was wondering about this HRAP2 SA: http://store.videogamecentral.com/hori-real-arcade-pro2-se.html


My response:

Compared to the HRAPs, the Hori Fighting Stick 2 is much lighter, smaller, has a crappy Hori stick and the lowest quality Hori buttons. It's also a lot harder to mod (i.e. to replace the parts with quality Sanwa parts).

If you want to play fighting games competitively, then the money you save will not be worth the furstration of having a lot of execution trouble due to the joystick. Think of it as trying to play StarCraft with a low-quality optical mouse, where the cursor occasionally jumps and the mouse buttons sometimes miss your button presses.

I've never heard of the HRAP2 SA, but I was able to fnd my HRAP2 for $130 USD, and saw other HRAP2s available for as little as $100 (maybe used?). Unless the SA version has Sanwa buttons rather than Hori ones, you're just getting ripped off.

By the way, Hori actually makes different quality parts for its different joysticks:

Sanwa buttons > Hori HRAP buttons > Hori T5 joystick buttons >> Hori $50 joystick buttons

Sanwa stick >> Hori T5 joystick stick >> Hori $50 stick

The T5 joystick has a decent Hori joystick and Hori buttons, was sold in the US, and costs about $80. It's the size and weight of an HRAP. It's actually not bad and I can tolerate using it, unlike the cheaper $50 joysticks which I cannot use at all, but it's noticeably harder to use than a joystick with real Sanwa parts.


Edit: I should mention that Seimitsu buttons and sticks are generally the same top-quality as Sanwa ones, but they have slightly different properties, like how far the joystick has to be tilted before it moves your character.

All Sanwa parts, saves you the trouble of modding it yourself and it looks pretty nice... good luck finding one, though.

Edit: Some interesting talk around, seems the progress on Naomi emulation is going really well, perhaps cvs2 and mvc2 emulated on GGPO!!?! Also the same guy who worked on (or one of the guys who have) this Naomi project is also tackling Atomiswave. HnK!?
