i decided to enter my self into an 'e-sports comp' for shits and giggles here locally, and the games offered are halo 3, mk vs dc and sf4. knowing how crap i am at halo 3 and mk vs dc is total rubbish, can anyone give me some help as to how to own up at sfiv? i only have the game on the pc and have been using the keyboard to play -_-. p.s this will be on the 360.... and it's on wednesday.

You want to start by mashing standing roundhouse with sagat. Just dont hit other buttons or crouch and your pretty much good to go. If you get knocked down or something and roundhouse isnt working (rare circumstances) wiggle with stick near downforward / down and mash punch buttons to uppercut them until youre safely back in standing roundhouse range =) This got me through the first 2 rounds of the gamestop tournament since it was on 360 garbage pads, so I know it works!

when they get knocked down get in their face and then block, and then when they shoryuken or do something similar press 3 punches and zangief will spin again and knock him down

Stand at midrange. Sometimes throw a fireball, sometimes duck and press kick, sometimes do nothing. When they jump at you, uppercut. Requires consistency doing uppercuts, unfortunately. The Zangief strat is probably better. ![]()

basic tricks... whiff the towards + RH kick over them when they're on the ground and dp ex tiger knee gets blocked, immediate uppercut since most people throw dp fadc dp works pretty well, but only try it if they've tech'd your dp fadc throws consistently. Really though, space control is a lot more important than any tricks / execution stuff with sagat. just keep in mind that sagat will win most his matches just by being patient and chipping people down with shots / knees. just blocking and backdashing will win you 10x as much as trying to get offensive and tricky. Anotak probably has a lot more to say, I havent really played sf4 in forever so you should definitely listen to him =)

i dont know the real specifics, but right before it hits, is blocked or is about to go off screen, I do qcf+lk/hk and then immediately press the strength of the second tiger i want. in training mode just set dummy to block and crouch and you should be find practicing. find the distance, then lk tiger, right before it gets blocked do qcf+hk~lp, right before it gets off screen do qcf+hk~hk and he should be like woo woo woo i dunno thats how i ended up getting a feel for it. if you do learn it, i guess itll help with your potentially annoying space game blast off etc

throw fireballs when they cant jump and kick you in the face, dont throw fireballs when they can. use sagat's standing HK to boot them in the gut when they jump at you and throw lots of fireballs!!! also mash out tiger uppercut

I agree with what's been said. You should be able to pick up Ryu or Sagat in a reasonable amount of time. If you go with Ryu, I would spend a few hours memorizing the range of shoryuken, so you know where to position your self. After you get in that spot just outside of their normals, it's a basic meta game. He has to decide are you going to throw a fireball, are you going to throw a low forward, will you do nothing, will you early stuff with a c.RH? It doesn't take long to see this, so learn the range of your c.MK and your shoryuken, and you've got the infrastructure for basic zone game.

So, i spent some time at training mode today, i found that i can f.lk,c.lp,EXTU to Ultra for 510dmg, i have just seen mago do something similar, using TU FADC f.HK ultra for 527dmg, dont know what you think guys, but i found pretty ez to hit confirm the c.lp and it just uses 1stock so i want to know if it is a viable strategy for mixing up your game.

also zxk3 you usually only kara tiger while theres one already on screen. you dont have to hcf, its a qcf. lol you can do like qcf then hit back or just qcf neutral, as long as you get a step kick then hit another button

(a) if you threw a fireball, they can kick you and go into a combo, or (b) if you did nothing, they can do nothing and won't get hit by an uppercut. I think this is less important for Sagat because his f.hk and kara-uppercut can hit people who jump in from that range...?
