I cannot believe we've had a TL dota clan so long and not use Vent, when dota is such a team-based game and it would just be so perfect for us in several ways. It would really help improve coordination/communication and result in less failed ganks, and I strongly believe it would increase activity and provide a much more social atmosphere. people need to get mics, and if not at least be able to listen. If we could really get ventrilo going where people are always on when theyre at their computer rather than only during games, it'd be easier to get games started, and it'd bring people closer together. I know the only reason why I and many of my friends played WoW for as long as we did, was basically because of Ventrilo and how it basically became more about just enjoying doing something together with friends and talking with them rather than the game being fun itself.
Zelly, you are a veteran, you should know that we tried this before. The vent channel has been in the Clan description since Shinbi and I started venting together. Well, more like when I commentated for our games and Shinbi went crazy with my lulz. But in any case, we tried this months ago and failed. There are several people with vent in the clan, but many refuse to get mics or are too lazy to download vent. I had to pester Testie for a LONG time for him to even DOWNLOAD the program, don't even mention getting a mic, which he MOST LIKELY already has one.
FYI, we were venting YESTERDAY. However, because of my new house, the net isn't that great and the vent gives me like 0.5 delay, but anyways. Most of, if not all, JF's crew has vent and has a microphone. I along with Alven used to frequently go on vent to chat and commentate, not so much for the game itself. We were discussing American politics yesterday, along with LaikOmg, haha. Shinbi scurries onto vent in an instand if I say I'm going on vent, so don't need to worry about him, oh and he's coming back to DotA because I am. ;p
There was also a vote for if TL should incorporate vent into their games, it was ether a tie or the Vent side lost. It's the simple fact that people don't care enough. Not only that, they want to listen to music or are scared of talking/getting yelled at.
In any case, when I play DotA and there's someone else that has Vent + Mic or Shinbi is online, I'm on vent. Alven has vent + mic. Devaz has vent. JF's crew has both. Bly has vent, and so on.
I think it's because of how people like to shit talk on interwebs, and is afraid they lose their little security by going on vent and letting us hear their voices. LOL! That and we can shit talk them back easier when it's voice instead of typing.
I'm all up for Vent idea going up again, It's much more fun and brings a richer game. SO FAR the only person that actually converses is Alventine. Shinbi just sits there to listen, but he said he was getting a mic today.
All in all. Vent idea = Good. Split clan idea = Depends on how much excess we have.
We can easily split the clan 30/30 and just make sure the people have the other 30 in their friends list. Or just get the hosters to be on the friends list, who really cares about the people that can't host? Lol

THE PEOPLE WHO PLAY THE LEAST OFFER SUGGESTIONS AND INSIGHT ON WHAT TO DO WITH THE CLAN!!! THAT IS SMART!!!
The clan isn't splitting, and it is ridiculous to bring it up for a multitude of reasons. Quiet.

wat
i'm always here
and splitting would have no effect other than increasing the maximum number of members

I wouldn't mind using vent, everytime I've gone on the server listed in garean nobody was there so I stopped checking.

Maybe because you don't actively try to get games with us.
Same clan chat + nudge sound is CRUCIAL.

you act like i haven't been here since the fucking beginning
honestly -_-
without increasing max clan size, we'll NEVER have more than one inhouse going, IF ANY AT ALL. how many times have we idled waiting for games to start? like every fucking day. the only time we don't idle is at peak hours when we only have one inhouse going at a time. do you know how many people don't play dota with us because our clan doesn't allow more than 50 people? and it's not like there's a lack of potential clan members because we get friends of friends and misc TLers all the time. if it comes to it, we recruit the better of the pubs in ggc. really, clan chat and nudge isn't even that important as long as there is an even (or nearly even) split between the two clans because WE'RE ALL ON EACH OTHER'S FRIENDS LIST AND CAN SEE WHAT CHANNEL WE'RE ALL IN. all we have to do (and have been doing) is fill up an empty channel with the two clans and get games going. get enough people (which isn't far off) and nudging becomes unncessary. honestly, if you really need a united clan chat, it's called POSTING IN THE [DotA] LET'S FUCKING PLAY THREAD. i mean, that's the whole fucking point of this thread.
really, by keeping shit the same way, we're never gonna have more activity than we do now which is pretty shitty in my opinion. every single game is testie essentially raping noobs who keep doing the same shit over and over again. if we put similar players together, hopefully, they'll learn to get better instead of barely surviving in an environment they can barely comprehend.

I haven't found the friend's list to be very useful except for 'trace buddy'. Nobody uses the status changes and lots of people leave gareana running all the time and it would be quite a hassle to message a bunch of people on your friends list trying to find out if the other clan has a game going, or trying to get someone from the other clan to join your game.

I agree with L here. No matter what happens, we need a centralized Chat/Alert system to organize games. That doesn't necessarily mean we need to use ggc to do that, but it would be easier and more efficient.
ASDFing in this thread is way less effective than a quick pm or a nudge in the GGC channel. I don't think that is a realistic solution.

radmax... What on earth are you talking about. We use TL clan chat on Garena. ... I only ASDF here to get a couple more when I run out of ASDFing my /f list ;p

I guess he's arguing FOR not splitting the clan? Duh Nick, I thought you were smarter / less tired / less meepo'd out of your mind / less cats-deprived than that!

Testie, I wasn't suggesting we don't use the TL clan chat; I don't know where you got that idea. The only thing I'm arguing for is a centralized chat/alert system to organize games. Right now we use the GGC clan chat to do that and I think it works pretty well.
What I am saying is that IF we split into multiple clans we would need to find a third party platform to organize all of the games (vent, irc, teamspeak, bnet channel, etc) so that members from both groups could communicate with each other effectively.

Yes I was thinking of buying clan upgrades too. I'd willingly buy it if there were a way for me to send the item to sj, or if I were able to apply it.

I'd play more with you but it's really annoying with the high ping that comes with american hosts.
