One of the hardest carries? I disagree. I hardly see her as a carry, semicarry/ganker at best. I can't see her out carrying many other heroes. Her silence is good, shes got a mediocre nuke/slow, and an annoying early game ulti, thats about it, also she doesn't scale well into late game.

I have tried Dampeer he seems quite cool but a bit too much glasscannon for my taste. Nomad seems too technical for me atm, i always get killed lol but i hate to play against him.
So far i had my best success with Hellbringer. He is quite fragile and i always get shitty K/D stats but at least i don't feel the need to be agressive. I usually try to go with another hero and i can be annoying early on with the ranged attack. However once we get to mid / late game i feel really useless ( only assists ) and i get killed so fast if i'm not very careful. The only good thing is the invocation ( works well against towers ).
Some tips ? Since it is free mode i have a limited number of heroes available :o Check a few pages back, there was some beginner advice. Also: HoN Beginner's GuideIt's pretty dated (I believe I made it during beta for all the people unfamiliar with DotA/HoN) and the game has gone a very long way since then but the basics should still be true. There's also some good discussion in the thread. http://heroes-newerth.com/hon-strategy/the-ultimate-guide-to-winning-gamesPretty bad guide too but touches on several topics newcomers might find interesting (pushing, counter-pushing). + Show Spoiler [movies] +I think you can follow from there. Also, remember NotJack's advice: 1. Learn to play heroes who don't need farm (Wtich Slayer, Andromeda, Plague Rider). 2. Learn to farm. 3. Learn to play heroes who don't work without farm. Edit: For free mode, provide us with the list of hero pool available this week so we can point you towards better starting heroes. Thanks for all the answers, didn't know that the free hero pool was different every week when i made my post lol.
I have been playing more, still pretty bad ( ~ 1250 MMR ). I like to play supports and ranged characters. Been trying to get better during the laning phase, i'm still not really sure about my controls. To get last hits / denies the best way is to spam S and right clicking / A click at the last moment ?

Probably not hardest of carries, but she does a lot of burst damage. Play her as the focus of your team fights with your team supporting her and she will annihilate teams. I play her a lot like I do with sniper in my play style, team fights revolve around her staying alive and the team supporting her mid game. Shes hard to kill and if you can keep the enemy team from basically one shotting her she will dish out a lot of damage.

There's no one correct way to do it, even the best players have differing methods of lasthitting. Just the absolute basics are, rightclick/a+leftclick to start your attack animation, s to stop your attack animation, h to stop your attack animation entirely and make it not start again, a+clicking on the ground will attack the nearest creep, useful for lazy mans last hitting/when you don't have time to click on the individual creep, every attack animation has a "backswing" which is performed after the projectile is launched, its entirely superfluous and you can cancel it and do other stuff.
Don't just sit in a lane on hold position waiting to last hit keep moving around to juke spells and make it more difficult for him to harass you. Practice a hero to get a feel for what their attack animation+projectile speed is like and when you need to attack to get a kill. It's not ideal but you can just load up a practice game and sit in a lane and try and get every single last hit+deny. You can play mindgames with your opponents in lane by canceling attack animations to make them try to deny and other fun things. Best way is to just practice though.

I usually play support.
But i played EW twice and carried hard; going 20/5 and 12/2.. i.e. i am not usually on the carry but was still able to dominate with her; ergo she is OP

Or you're the ones thats op :o

I'm new to HoN, been playing for 3 days now and was wondering, are the character guides built in to the game any good? I've been playing some Plague Rider and Andromeda and just buying the items shown in the guides. Sometimes I can't tell if the stat boosts are helping me but some items like Striders and Power Supply I can see making a difference. Also are there any good sites for guides? Something along the lines like solomid.net for LoL would be what I'm looking for.

Most of them these days are ALRIGHT and are generally ALRIGHT for your run of the mill things.
As you get better you'll get away from the guides as you realize what you need to do the best in any given situation. Just remember that they are guidelines and not the best for every situation.

I thought you were saying you were carrying with supports, mentioning EW specifically as one. Re-reading your post....it still seems like you were saying EW is a support, lol.
And yes, she is very OP.

And while we're on the hard carry topic, what, in your opinion, is the hardest carry in the game? For some retarded reason I had been thinking magebane....but thinking about it last night, he really scales TERRIBLY, as while his blink and passives are really good early to mid-game, they are basically non-issues in late-late game. Obviously if you stack him with runed axe, shieldbreaker, doombringer, bkb, nullstone, etc, he's amazing, but almost any hero can do that with stacked items. If you get a 4 level lead, he can decimate any entire team about as fast as anyone up to about level 20, but after that, he starts getting rather stoppable.
So, TL, what is the hardest carry in HoN?
|
At this point I'm having trouble telling if you're a troll or not.
If troll: well executed. If not: ????????????? how many games played
|
You contradict yourself with your own statements...if any hero can do that with stacked items, then there is no hardest carry.
|
So, TL, what is the hardest carry in HoN?
Have to be more specific. Highest potential dps on a single target? No clue I think Dark Lady is up there though. 1v1 carry wars? These are really situational and often depend on who initiates on who. The best carry to pick in a MM game? Valk and Magebane are up there as its so difficult to gank them and stop them from farming. Best carry in the pro scene? Silhouette recently in last weeks games.

Are you guys even reading? He asked who is the hardest carry as in most difficult to play. The rest of the post should be context clues.
facepalm...reports coming from people like this.

Are you ?
The last guy who asks the question clearly states that magebane is not in his opinion the hardest carry because he doesnt scale well into lategame. That obviously means that hes not asking who the hardest to play carry is, but who can carry the hardest. You might want to report yourself while youre at it...
As for the actual question, fully pimped out TDL dishes out the highest DPS, followed closely by scout. So they are typically the 2 ''hardest'' carries. Now the problem comes with actually including them in a lineup and their (lack of) usefulness before they get 2 big items.

madman is the coolest so he's the hardest carry. how can you resist this face?

uhhh no... by hardest carry I'm pretty sure hes talking about the "strongest" carry, as in which carry carries the hardest. Not the hardest to play.
As you said, context clues: he talks about scaling into late game, talks about decimating and entire team. Not how difficult to play, but how hard it owns.
double facepalm
and imo, I'd say after the sw nerf chronos is probably the hardest carry, both 1v1, and the "decimate the entire team" kind. Hes got an escape, a bash, an extremely annoying rewind, and a huge disable. Basically with wingbow, and his rewind he can absorb wayyyy too many hits than he should. Add some atk speed and his bash will take down anyone 1v1. Late game chronosphere = 3 heroes dead easy.

I think wooozy knows what secrets lie...behind this mask.
Any hero with a built in disable that scales well late game makes them a candidate in my opinion. Mainly Chronos' passive bash and his ult as well as Scout's disarm
Side note, I'm really happy to see S2 changing to introducing completely trash useless new heroes (geo drunken master) instead of breaking the game with new insane overpowered carries.
