finally real commentating instead of the doublebad tobi + kellymilkies
Haha wow. Chinese commentary's on a completely different level just like Korean BW commentary was. Really superb both on the analytical side as well as presentation.

"Because Dota is a game where it's hard to know what will happen in the next second: you can only make predictions. ... No one can say their prediction is absolutely correct" (~57:30) - Wise man. This is an important point and tends to cause a lot of frustrations in teams with the wrong attitude. Obviously the better you get the better you are at predicting outcomes but there are so many factors that often times your idea is as good as mine. The main thing is to be aware all the time and watch your team as closely as your enemies.

closest thing to day[9] dailies but 2009 is better at dota than day[9] is at bw and sc2.

??? You'd be surprised how little fact is in that claim. It's not about predicting outcomes, it's about predicting options and when said options become no longer effective options is how people should approach team fights.

I haven't played the new tree myself so I'm not gonna comment wether its an improvement or not, but fact is the old tree was pretty useless when playing against decent players. Courier+hatchet made him litteraly a walking ult.

An option is determined effective if it's outcome is good. That's exactly the same thing.

As much as I prefer Korean BW commentary over the few English ones I heard, some of the Korean commentators (notably from OGN) are pretty bad when it comes to actual game analysis sometimes.

Well commentating sc and dota are obviously completely different. I think day9 can at least be a bit comparable to korean commentators because you only have to focus on the strategy of two people.
However, casting dota takes a lot of skill in delivery as well. Part of why people don't do so well is because it's hard to give the "big picture" as everything is happening and presenting it well. 2009 kept up very well with what was happening in all three lanes at the beginning individually and also continuously went back to the bigger picture as well. Then in team fights, he gave a direction for where the spells were going to go so he didn't have to describe all of them in great detail. Rather, he gave us the important part of the team fight, not just listing everything out on screen.
I guess my point is that dota doesn't just take knowledge of the game, casting actually takes "mechanical" skill too because you have to be able to know what's important to describe at the current moment because there's just too much otherwise, all while keeping the entire map in your scope. Actually most english commentators don't even come close to matching the analytical side of that cast let alone present it as well as he did.
I used to think dota was hard to watch because of these reasons but if someone was able to do it like that every game, this kind of genre is very action packed and enjoyable. Gotta go watch the previous 3 some other time .

No, it's not. Options are independent of the outcome. The reason 2009 says you can't predict the outcomes is because the options aren't set in stone because order matters. Thinking of outcomes is completely pointless because that's not what should be going through your head first when analyzing a situation. Why? Because it leads to shitty pigeonholing of situations based on experience.
The basic examples of this are the solo Viper and Huskar players who have no clue what to do when their orb-walk harassed gets blown the fuck up. Tell me what you would rather consider first, the outcome of your orb-walk or what options you have from orb-walking or not orb-walking.
Edit:
Should clarify that last sentence as in what options you have period as a X hero player not some outcome based on experience.

btw he had watched that game before maybe once or twice and also he had the ability to slowdown. live casting is much more difficult
