my experience with akuma players is that fighting full screen also tend to be their weakness as well. most players make the mistake of chasing akuma while he's throwing air fireballs. what i resort to is letting them come after me with a forward jumping air fireball. i time my jump so i'm over it and land on akuma when he's landing.

granted this is boring as hell way to play, but blame akuma players for running with air fireballs and teleporting when you're near. top notch akuma players, of course, don't apply. lol

Teamliquid is not your google.

You've made like 300 questions about mundane sf4 stuff already, all of which can be answered by googling.

try more like 3 questions, and google doesn't always help, especially with such a uber hyped game as sf4, 90% of the shit that comes up has to do with when it will come out. And who cares anyways, you can ignore it, its not like i'm sidetracking the thread for 3 pages. This is, afterall, the OFFICAL sf4 thread, where we discuss everything sf4 right? If you had questions I would try and answer them if I could.

On that note, anyone else have 'hot-micing' issues where your sound just feedback loops or something repetitively and sounds like techno lol for the people you play on live? I don't even have a mic hooked up, it was so fucking funny when I heard what it sounded like after about 20 matches and 5-6 messages saying "TURN YOUR MUSIC OFF NIGGER", etc. I muted the mic (even though there isn't even one hooked up). I had a similar issue with vent where it would play really loud whenever i tried to talk and you couldn't even hear me.

What are the typical demon setups for akuma? Can you still >,MP demon , Dash demon, HK demon?
And what other BnB does he have besides jump in/D.flip-kick , LK/MK, LK Tatsu, HP Goshoryu
Also what is a good way to stuff people who spam wakeup SRKs (and EX versions) ?

Although Akuma is definitely a top-5 character in this game, he really doesn't have many demon setups in SF4. You'll mostly land it only in punish situations or after a focus attack. Super demon comes out a bit faster than ultra demon, but it does much less damage. Also, Akuma has generally better uses of meter in EX air fireball and SRK FADC. In short, super demon isn't worth the meter unless the opportunity presents itself, and it's usually not worth trying to create an ultra demon setup situation.

For attacks to punish with both demons and bnbs, akuma forums.

I was a bit surprised to not see any players using Akuma in the upcoming EVO event. Akuma is a versatile character that is lethal in the hands of a patient player. EX air fireball is such a nasty move.

An ultra demon trick I use is if your opponent is full screen away, throw a hadoken. If they jump over it, you can input your ultra and often times you will land it just as they are hitting the ground. It's a kind of a newb trick, but it's still pretty neat. >

What Akuma's try to do against me when I play Balrog is to shoot a fireball, wait until they see my turn punch, then input demon. Little do they know that when Akuma has ultra I like to turn punch right into a fireball, "miss-time it" if you will, and ultra them right back.

Sanford (playing dhalsim for evo i think) using akuma here, pretty damned good. Especially round 3, from about 3:12 - 3:20 c,lp x3, lk-tatsu, ex-hp srk, ex focus cancel, red fireball.

I've seen some akumas buffer demon off a whiffed cr.mk as an anti air.

Also, if someone is dumb enough to jump at your wakeup attempting a safe jump, reversal demon will beat anything they do.

best demon setup I've seen is the one I saw ed ma do: crossup ex tatsu just before hitting the ground (it whiffs, keeps you airborne) and demon immediately so that it comes out as you touch the ground. This works stupidly well.

Agreed with the above post. ^_^

I've done whiffed cr.mk > Ultra demon for an AAA once, I think its not really reaction thing, more like something you anticipate. Momochi in one of his videos versus daigo also did it not as an anti-air but as a footsie tool, whiffing the cr.mk while buffering the ultra and as daigo attempts to punish... boom

One of my friends here can occasionally anti-air demon on reaction. I think he does it standing, without buffering it: apparently there's a shortcut you can use to input the demon really fast. Imo every Akuma player should learn how to do this consistently.

Well normally SF4 reads lp, lp, f/b + lk + hp as the correct motion, so that's probably fast enough by itself...cr.mk into demon for anti-air is good because cr.mk has a weird low defensive hitbox that won't get hit by the jump-in attack you are punishing. I guess Akuma does have a few decent setups, but I'm not convinced they're worth pursuing.

Maybe I have a faulty interpretation of Akuma in SF4 (after all, I never played him at a semi-decent level), but I see him as a much more defensive and reactive character than in previous games, using few gimmicks at a high level. His walk speed is really fast for a qcf fireball zoner. He's got the ultimate tools for creating and baiting mistakes, and then he does such high reliable damage on punishes. Aside from some prime demon flip mixup scenarios, his careful zoning play against most characters has the best risk/reward IMHO. So I would say that he has a few decent demon setups, but they're not worth actively pursuing (i.e. aggressively creating opportunities) because his other options are better.

I think my point was that "typical demon setups" don't really exist in standard play basic Akuma, and beginners have many better things to learn with the character first. Granted, anti-air and punish demons are terrific, and there's a good deal of capacity for other styles of play, and some opponents have a hard time dealing with aggresive play and/or gimmicks, etc. of course.

Your first sentence doesn't make much sense, but what I got from it is that he doesn't play dhalsim. How I got to the video was from another one where he is playing Dhalsim vs Sagat for some evo qualifier at an arcade.

Pretty sure he meant "never will and never has played dhalsim" and it was probably him playing Sagat vs Arturo from a week or two ago

But yeah Sanford is not a Dhalsim player. Also to the dude saying no one at EVO is using akuma.. 2 of the 5v5 teams have akuma players, maybe more since the lineups on all the teams except EC and WC are somewhat uncertain until the day of.

Old, weathered, beaten and seemingly back from the darkside ryu. Badass

PS- I was arguing with my friend the other day about 2 things, 1 that ryu is in his late twenties (He thinks he's late 30s or 40s at least). 2 is that the original SF they say "ah-you-kan" instead of 'shoryuken' , same with tatsumaki. They say that shit right?
