ryu was like 18-20 in SF2 but I guess Alpha took place right before that and he looks quite young yet he is a lot older looking in SF4 and SF3(which is after SF4 chronologically).. but Sakura looks same age in both of them so who knows. Im gonna say like 25 in SF4 and near 30 in SF3

But it allows you to beat twice as many opponents usually, is there any benefit of beating 8 instead of the 4?

They say that shit right? I probably dropped a few hundreds playing the original SF2 in the arcades when I was a kid. My childhood friends and I firmly believe that Ryu and Ken screams.. ALL-YOUUU-GETTT!!! They changed that shit to Shoryuken when Japanese SF became mainstream starting with SF3. They even mention the old school way of saying shoryuken in this 90's rap classic: If you don't like rap, but still want to hear it, it's around 2:20.

SF2: Hyper Fighting (CPS1 hardware, so same sounds as World Warrior and Championship Edition where Ryu and Ken have the same voice; different than in Super and Super Turbo): + Show Spoiler [some a-cho Ryu vs. Ken match '03] +

edt- actually i have these sound effects on my comp that I dl'd a while back and I think that in the game they just aren't heard very clearly (considering the advances in sound quality and programming). I'm actively listening to the sounds and trying to hear all-you-get, all-you-ken,shore-you-ken, and oar-you-ken. I hear shoryuken. it's just less emphasis on the syllables you would expect. Here let me upload them for you. http://www.filesavr.com/streetfighter The only one that still gets me is the tatsu, they are clearly saying some else, its like; "tats-lik-suh-broo-kek" or some shit. unrelated - My sf4 live name (PC version) is SpoR Oner , anyone wanna play? add me

The reason you can't hear the "sh" in shoryuken is because it sounds like static and is pretty low volume. The important thing about the hurricane kick is you really have to understand the words as well as Japanese pronunciation. It's common for Japanese to cut the last vowel from a word or letter if it's not emphasized (or speak it quickly thereby masking it). So: "Tatsumaki Senpuu Kyaku" becomes "Tatsumaki Senpuu Kyaku" in the game file.

PS- I also have the comp hooked up to a 40" plasma via hdmi so that would put more strain right?

Couldn't block the second punch for the life of me. There's a significant delay between each hit, and you really have to be mindful of when it's coming out. It's very tricky to block both her j.FP and c.FP when they're used together, and I still get hit by them on occasion. The problem is that you have to block high for a good quarter-second, then immediately low about a tenth of a second later. The timing is very awkward. On the plus side, if you block that c.FP it's massive frame disadvantage for her, she'll eat an SPD if that's blocked.

Small world :x (i've been playing vega a lot lately) EDIT to be useful: for all characters against blanka, it's fairly important to learn to focus his anti-air crossup ball on reaction since he drops down in front of you immediately after, and you get a free crumple

I swear to god if they removed blanka from the game I would cry tears of joy. that green fuck is gayer than gief lol i'm a Rufus player and Blanka is my hardest match up. There's a few threads in SRK that try to explain this matchup with strengths and weaknesses, but execution against Blanka is so challenging because of specific counters: Branka Matchup Thread - SRK I've improved, but it's hard to get out of the habit of diving into Blanka, which I'm promptly raped by electricity. The other thing is that don't try to lk->rk because most Blankas crouch all the time so they won't get juggled. lk->hp->tornado is better, but it's hard to get that combo all the time. Another thing is to block Blanka ball by standing, which will cause Blanka to not bounce back as much as if you were crouching. But be careful of stand blocking because of his annoying slide. Vertical ball should be punished by jumping rk juggle. Rainbow ball should be blocked and punished or Focus and free stagger. Electricity is countered crouching mk or mp, best is EX tornado. It's hard to get a full EX messiah on smart Blanka players.

Remove Gief please. but then if I ever enter an SF4 tournament, I won't be able to pick Gief and lariat my way to the prize money.
