So I'm looking for a game to play with a bunch of friends, how good is Genshin Impact as a real coop game?

Also how much challenge is there, is there any depth to the gameplay and how much grind is it? I feel that we'd all rather pay a full price title than play a game with a ton of grinding and no challenge, which a lot of f2p MMOs are. How does Genshin Impact fare in that regard?

I don't know if they changed a lot since I quit but the game can be satisfying to play but not very hard and the coop is pretty meh. Its strength lies more in single player elements of exploration.

It's definitely not a co-op game.

Also WRT Childe banner I don't really mind re-runs for gachas, or rather I don't really care about characters/gacha as long as content is there. I thought it was interesting seeing all the event announcements for the patch - there's definitely way more volume of content nowadays than before (may or may not back up my speculation that their dev teams have sorted out R&R and cycles) even if there's no big event this time around. Looking forward to the new island at least. Sort of wondering how 2.3 - 2.5 will look given that I assume Chasm will be one of those, maybe another temporary area?

If you are into MMOs consider checking out Amazon's New World. It's going through the roof on steam right now
EDIT: Just saw you are in the New world thread already, nevermind ^^

I would echo that this game is not a real co-op game. Though I occasionally see videos of people having fun with real life friends in co-op, there are just too many things acting against it, including that just typing in chat is a pain. Perhaps it's time to ask a mod to change the title?

No idea how future content will look like, but I think the game have given way too many electro sigils for the Sacred sakura tree to just stop at level 40, so I would imagine there would be another island after the 2.2 island or they would have to find a way to use up those electro sigils. I did speculate that chasm will be after Inazuma but honestly Mihoyo can add any region they like to the game and it doesn't have to be prenamed. But I am sure that in the case of Inazuma islands, they had it all ready and developed long before they were all released.

They just re-did most of the Sumeru borders (where Chasm resides), so it seems like they've at least figured out terrain/landscape plans, yeah. As long as they release a new exploration region every few months I'm quite good.

WRT electro sigils I'm not sure if you overshoot 40 with what we've got at the moment (which should be ~90%ish of total?)... but I think there's a not-yet-open shop in the city that presumably will have a similar trade-in system as Mondo/Liyue for surplus.

Is Isanuma the only new area? Been mulling over jumping back in for a bit to see the new stuff. Tho sadly I missed Baal.

If you do, you might as well wait a week - they'll be adding the last island then. But yes, just Inazuma, though total size of it is fairly hefty (Mondo-ish size but more dense with stuff).

I got Kokomi a week ago and have been building her up. Anyways my analysis with 4 days left to go in case anybody wants to consider rolling for Kokomi on the last few days. Elemental skill produces a Jellyfish that you cannot target exactly where to place down. Same issues as Sucrose elemental skill targetting. Jellyfish heals Kokomi, then pulses every 2 seconds thereafter applying hydro per pulse and healing the current on field character. So pulses once immediately then pulses 6 times afterwards for a total of 7 pulses. As this heal is not party-wide, rather ironically Kokomi isn't good at healing the corrosion mechanic. It is also hard to see where the hydro application/healing circle actually is.

Elemental burst provides a massive increase in damage to the normal/charge attacks as well as the jellyfish pulse based on healing bonus and HP. Like seven or eight times as much damage as before. Also the normals/charged now heal partywide in burst mode.

With Prototype Amber and 2P Heart of Depth/Maidens beloved the best artifact set and 4* weapon which is very close to the 5* weapon, and exceptional amounts of investment you will expect to do 8k damage max during burst mode. 7.5k per hit more realistically during burst mode. During burst mode you will hit 15-20 times. Apparently 2 hits then walk or dash cancelling can net 20 hits, but the most l've seen anybody actually do whilst actually attacking something as opposed to thin air is 19. Seems quite tricky to hit the maximum number of possible hits.

From there you can work out whether it is worth using Kokomi in her burst mode or not, over her simply passing the bonuses of Thrilling Tales of Dragon Slayer and 4 piece Tenacity of Millelith to the rest of the team.

This character isn't really worth getting if you are expecting her to do more damage during her burst mode than the auto attacks of the best main-DPS (Ganyu, Hu Tao, Xiao). It's unlikely for her burst mode to do worth doing over than simply passing on TTDS and 4P ToM to your best DPS. A theoretical 16k dps (or more likely 13.5k) might seem high, but how much damage will your main-dps normally do, if they got +68% ATK bonus instead?

She would fit in a team where every other character is essentially a support or does their damage in bursts or off-field.

In terms of healing, her healing is conditionally different from other healers, standard level of healing really. In terms of hydro application, Kokomi is situationally and overall better than Barbara and situationally different from Mona.

Not really recommended to pull for in terms of "meta" unless you have a specific team in mind. If your aim was a character that would output greater dps during Eula's "downtime" you'll be greatly disapppointed. In my case I practically have an electro-charged team all built up ready for her and I got Ganyu and Ayaka, but no Mona to properly apply hydro with. She is overally better than Barbara in terms of providing hydro for freeze comps. Also she is so pretty.

yea i just use ToM and only attack during burst for extra heals

the -100% crit rate is so unnecessary

It is pretty fun. You absolutely don't have to pay for anything in the good to have a good time or even make it later. I'd argue not paying is more fun and alot more challenging. You can fully go f2p on it.

It has so much to do where you can just go on your own pace. And you can coop anytime with your friends but this is really more a single player game

The only problem genshin has is that when you reach the point around endgame where you are around AR45+ you are just waiting for events and new story quest which takes few minutes to play.

Not close. I'm at 180/200 leylines. Considering that it's literally taken a year to get within spitting range of 200, 800 is just not feasible unless I neglect all other resin activities or they make changes to the system.

i just hit 400 leylines today lmao

im okay with the artifacts i have on my ~6 DPSes who all generally have 50-75% CR and 150-200% CD so i might just farm leylines for the foreseeable future... at least till i serendipitously pull a new 5*

Arara, still capped on sakura tree. Wonder what they've got planned for 2.3+.
