Yes, kuroda has the best mechanics and hands out of every player. The urien combos that RX / Messatsu considered "impossible by human hand" is done by him rather easily apparently. (stuff like 3x tackle on a dougi character and a few others).

"when Rx goes the arcade, he just stand behind Kuroda and learn tricks from Kuroda..."

--very doubtful, since RX appears to be the most knowledgeable Urien player today, and knows combos that can only be done on the command controlers. I doubt he's learning "tricks" as this guy says, rather is looking at the raw technique that kuroda wields.

I read some stuff along these lines on Messatsu's blog I believe, and it mentioned asking Kuroda about the timing mechanisms he uses to execute.

----------

Also, ranking MOV is a tricky ordeal, b/c he's similar to broodwar players who only become active for WCG. He's simply extremely out of form unless it's before an important even and he's mass gaming. (mentioned all over the place on various players' blogs)

It'll be interesting to see what his form is like... I remember reading Keeper's blog and it said that MOV's success rate of SGGK was some absurdly high percentage...

---------
Btw Arc I noticed you write "Roah", but it's supposed to be Raoh.

--------

Wait I thought Hayao didn't make it through.

-------

Is this the Jack that's from Australia and has gone to Newton / Vision several times? He has some nice vids up on youtube.

Best Ken right now might actually be Deshiken, esp now that Umehara seems to be spending his time working at a mahjong place (lol). Spellmaster J is always scary in tournaments, but I don't think he made it past qualifiers this year?

Chun-li is prolly even between Nuki and MOV, with Tokido slightly behind. Oh, and Rikimaru seems to be extremely strong these days.

Yun is... I'm tempted to place Nitto slightly ahead of KO, esp since KO is entered in this year's SBO under Yang (Boss is playing Yun on his team). Nitto has also been literally unstoppable in recent months too.

-------

Dudley - well Kokujin went back home and quit 3s, so that leaves... Jima and Fujiwara maybe?

Urien - RX and Pierre as always. RX has better mechanics but Pierre is the better tournament player.

Makoto - J seems inactive (which makes me sad ), and there seems to be a dirth of S-class makotos atm... perhaps Inoue is the best in this year's SBO field.

speaking of SBO, isn't it like, this weekend or something like that?

Yeah, after a certain awesome SBO 4 video from last year, I think MOV has definitely risen to Nuki's level .

Nitto has been near-unstoppable in the videos I've seen of him recently. So much so that I always cheer for the other player in his games . I don't know how I'd rank him vs KO these days.

I believe SBO 5 is at the end of August? And the last 2 teams to qualify will be decided then, I think.

Actually, I read on shoryuken.com that right now the best Yun is Kuroda. And the best Ken. And the best Urien. And the best Q (of course). (For those who don't know: in Japan, Kuroda is widely regarded as the best 3s player and he has almost always played with Q, but apparently he's been playing with some much-less-sucky characters recently.) The same poster also mentioned that even RX learns Urien tricks from Kuroda (which is like sAviOr learning zerg tricks from Bisu) O_O.

Edit: Haha, we both saw the same post .

Kuroda hasn't qualified for SBO 5 yet, so maybe he's going to enter the last chance qualifier with a non-Q character for the first time. There's four videos of Kuroda utterly dominating some poor Ken player using Yun on Youtube: game 1, game 2, game 3, and game 4.

Lastly, I think TheShend has all or almost all of KSK's Gamers Vision ranbats up on Youtube. For anyone who's interested in seeing more new 3s videos, I recommend subscribing to TheShend .

I think I have all of the vision ranbats in original form, other than like the first 10 which were never uploaded. grrrr

I really wish Newton ranbats were uploaded, b/c the level there is even slightly higher than vision.

Yea my spelling is horrible, I gotta go edit that now >_>

By Hayao I meant Hayao and Kuroda + some random player making the last chance qualifiers for SBO that are gonna be held on the 12th. It seems like something that Kuroda would do, show up at the last moment and make it into the tournament and then maybe even win (seems Q'ish). I think Kuroda is in the area as well, HermoNaz's blog says:

"I also watched Kuroda own everyone in the room with random characters. I dont think he played Q once. But the sheer level of skill was not to be mistaken. Unfortunately I was too busy at the time getting my ass remodelled by a Yun player whose name I didnt get, but I gotta get a first to ten in against him."

And yes that is the Jack from Australia, so hopefully he's fairly reliable source ("that" being the original post I had earlier, ugh I need to be more clear).

Well, that explains why those 4 videos of him playing Yun are the first time I've seen anyone repeatedly and consistently do Palm - Kick - Palm - Kick - ... in a Genei-Jin combo: everyone else does Palm - Kick - Kick - Palm - Kick - Kick - ...

I read on... koushun's blog maybe? that some korean player can do the "chou-idou-koboku" (or super-moving-palm or smth liek that) 95% of the time.

Mester is known to use that with high frequency, but even players who can technically do the higher dmg combos choose to use the lower safer ones in serious events. Look at... SBO1 where KO's geneijin combo screw up cost him the game vs Izu. The damage improvement by using the higher damage variant is usually so marginal that it's just not worth the risk.

----
so I watched videos 1-3 of Kuroda playing Yun, and to be honest, he sucks.

His knowledge of the optimal Geneijin variants for each situation is weak, and his decision making was suspect as well. Overall: very sloppy and unclean.

Man, it would be so much fun to travel to asia and get totally owned by koreans and japanese in StarCraft and Third Strike, respectively.

I want to play Third Strike so badly right now. But no one is in the arcade these days (what with exams finishing up) and the machine got reset accidentally and now it costs 50 cents for a bo3 instead of 25 cents for a bo5 -_-. Ugh. I tried emulating it and playing some single player, but I can't do shit without an arcade joystick =P.

Haji, how 'bout driving up to Canada and playing some 3s with me?

Anyway, enough chat. Time for more videos!

Gamers Vision 2nd Ranbat No.5: Frankie3s, Pyrolee (Ryu, Yun) vs Tsucchie, Issei (Chun Li, Yun)
Like koreans vs foreigners in SC, the japanese generally outclass everyone else in 3s. Sucks that Pyro and Frankie (US players) got matched against a Chun and a Yun in the first round, too. But they put up a hell of a fight in this video, to say the least .

<object width="425" height="350"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/nQ4HOKogDOk"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/nQ4HOKogDOk" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="350"></embed></object>

Cooperation Cup 2 Semis: Chemuru (Makoto) vs Pledge, Tsubo, Nachan, Aruka (Yang, Yun, Ken, Ibuki)
Four fast-paced Makoto games.

<object width="425" height="350"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/NF0I1P2Rswk"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/NF0I1P2Rswk" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="350"></embed></object>

Gamers Vision 3rd Ranbat No.1: YSB (Hugo) vs Yamazaki (Twelve)
Hurray for underused, low-tier characters! I think that in order to fully appreciate this match, you need to understand how difficult it is to play with the two 2nd-worst characters in the game. Hugo has high strength and the most HP, but terrible mobility. Twelve is exactly the opposite: high mobility but low HP and pitiful strength. Both characters require a great deal of skill and intelligence to play well. Watch as Yamazaki tries 100 different things to slowly pick away at Hugo's life bar, while YSB repels Yamazaki's shenanigans as he inches his way towards his opponent, dealing huge damage once he's in close.

World Heroes Perfect Match Vid
This isn't Third Strike, just a game with the best super move ever .

<object width="425" height="350"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/iuUFmC98fEA"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/iuUFmC98fEA" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="350"></embed></object>

Bill while my knowledge of 3s is decent b/c I absolutely love the game and its players, I have no one to play with and thus my skill level is probably down to nothing now. (not that it was any good to begin with)

I think 3-4 pple is ideal for fighting games in general (2 pple gets old really fast), and I can never get anywhere near that number .

Well Bill if you ever feel like going to Japan let me know and I can act as your translator P

edit: O___O Arc thanks for the stream, I'll definitely try to get it to work, and I'll translate if I hear anything interesting.

>Bill Yea actually the Japanese players say that Pyrolee is actually very strong and if he played regularly in Japan he'd be among the top class players. However, from what I have seen, he has a bit of work to do on optimal geneijin combos. He often mixes the zesshou when he doesn't need to, reducing the overall damage output.

Frankie is a bit gimmicky since no one plays Denjin Ryu in Japan (at least at the time of that video. For 2007, Vanao has been using a Denjin Ryu and doing well with him)

Haha, that World Heros video reminded of MOV vs Keeper in Joy Mech Fight (wtf a gameboy fighting game, and they're playing dead serious and analyzing the game in Keeper's blog lawl)

search "keeper ken" or something in youtube, that's keeper's account.

Lol right now is Soul Calibur 3 matches. I have no clue wtf is going on. Some buff guy vs some random guy. Buff guy is all confident probably saying something like "I'm definitely gonna win!11" and then the other guy w/ the glasses is scared shitless.

Edit: Lol buff guy got owned 3-0 and is crying.

screw SC 3 -____-. Unless they fixed it up for the arcade version, it has awful balance and game mechanics, with parry being completely overpowered. (according to my roommate last year, a skilled sc2 player)

edit: I actually want to see Hyper SF II (some sick sick teams qualified) and KOF98

Wow, I've been poking around SRK and the like and I had no idea SF3S had such a massive scene. I always knew SF was 'the' popular 2d fighter, but wow. Looks like I need to convince some of my friends to get this emu.

Wow Haji, really? You don't have any decent arcades where you live? That sucks . That'd be like playing StarCraft but being unable to log on to BNet T___T;;.

Thanks for all the info. It's cool learning all this Japanese stuff . I envy you ^^. I have to rely on translated pages like this one, but I guess it's not so bad once you get used to translations like "bending/discouraging", "Rikkyo University P", and "after the occurring you attack yes" .

By the way, my video descriptions are aimed at people who aren't familiar with 3s, FYI ^^.

Speaking of videos, one more for tonight:

SBO 5 (2007) European Qualifier - Grand Final: Team France (Chun Li, Yun, Urien) vs Team UK (Urien, Akuma, Chun Li)
All of Europe gets exactly ONE qualifier to send ONE team to SBO, and this is that qualifier, held June 17th, 2007. The left players are from France and the right players are from the UK. The crowd is also based in the UK, apparently . This isn't really a "pro" match, just fun to watch . By the way, "Tougeki" is another name for SBO.
