does netplay only work via MAME or does the cps3 emu provide this aswell? Anyway I cannot figure out how to play this via Network
Someday, you’re going to fuck up so magnificently, so ambitiously, so overwhelmingly that the sky will light up and the moons will spin and the gods themselves will shit comets with glee. And I just hope I’m still around to see it.

So is this game known to be the most balanced SF game to date? My favorite SF games have been this one, SF:Alpha 3 and Capcom vs. SNK 2: Mark of the Millennium 2001.

I really like the physics in alpha 3 and the moves for ken in both those are sweet. Although the parry thing is awesome.

mmm, i'd hesitate to call this game "balanced" because there is still a great deal of heirarchy in the strengths of the characters, but I guess the game system permits a relatively equal playing field and for strong players to overcome strong characters through their skill...

And I don't know enough about the previous SF balance to comment on whether this game is the best balanced or not, but the fact that the competitive scene for the game is live and kicking even after ~10 years is testament to how good the game is though.

I seen those japanese chart and it is probably very old.

The ranking is based on old tactics. New strategies are discovered all the time so I wouldn't go by those charts too much since they're so outdated.

3s is one of the more balance of the newer Capcom games. Excluding Sean, even the bottom characters can fight against the majority of the cast.

For the new games, if going by percentage, 3s is the most balance. However, if going by numbers of character, cvs2 is more balance. Fortunately 3s isn't a 3on3 like CVS2 or all we'll see is Chunli, Ken & Yun teams which is far far worse than a Sagat & Blanka team.

Wrong. SFIII: 3S is eight years old and the fastest characters with the hardest-to-parry attacks are still on top. There are a few people that use low-tier characters like Hayao and his Hugo, but other than that it's Ken/Yun/Chun with a bit of Makoto.

Not sure what is seen as expensive for a joystick, but if you have an existing joystick, you can put real arcade parts into them like mine below. It use convex buttons & a japanese style stick. I think it was probably cost close to $20 for the parts.

That's hard core dude. Roughing out a home made joystick from random parts gets my respect.

I never said Ken/Yun/Chun aren't top characters. I don't deny they still are tops.

My point is that, characters rating move up and down on the chart versus because of new strategies. In a matchup that is rated 9:1, might now be 7:3.

Such as new ways to link Necro's SA2 gave him an option he didn't have before or partition charge Urien that makes it easier to do his unblockable from anywhere on screen.

I've been out of the hardcore 3s scene for 2 years so a lot of the finer details are a bit blurry now.

The game isn't really the "most balanced" or anything, the depth of the game is why it's so popular and great.

The only new thing that's come up that I'm aware of is the SGGK, and that was 2 years ago iirc.

As for the diagram, I'm pretty sure it's up to date, since I pulled it from the japanese 3s wiki page (separate from wikipedia itself btw), and the site has up to date SBO qualifier lists, so it's being maintained regularly.

Does any one have any ideas of why the emulation of 3rd strike could be so slow.

it pretty much requires a dual core for smooth play.

lol I dont think there is a single machine in this entire house that can handle the emulator.

Good thing I have a ps2, a copy of 3s, and two RAC Pros here though

I was wondering, you know how the taunts can charge you up up to 3 times? Does it stack between rounds? like say you pick akuma and bust 3 taunts in round 1, then round 2 do you start back at 0 bonus or at the 3 taunt max bonus? I know it doesnt carry over between new opponents. Im just talking about rounds of the same fight.

And I read that super jump is down up but I can't seem to do it.

Taunts don't carry over between rounds, you'll have to re-taunt.

Super jump is just down up (it's not like the Vs series super jump, more like KoF/CvS2), it's easiest to notice with Urien imho.

that place doesn't update nearly as frequently as it used to these days
