I really like the physics in alpha 3 and the moves for ken in both those are sweet. Although the parry thing is awesome.

And I don't know enough about the previous SF balance to comment on whether this game is the best balanced or not, but the fact that the competitive scene for the game is live and kicking even after ~10 years is testament to how good the game is though.

The ranking is based on old tactics. New strategies are discovered all the time so I wouldn't go by those charts too much since they're so outdated. 3s is one of the more balance of the newer Capcom games. Excluding Sean, even the bottom characters can fight against the majority of the cast. For the new games, if going by percentage, 3s is the most balance. However, if going by numbers of character, cvs2 is more balance. Fortunately 3s isn't a 3on3 like CVS2 or all we'll see is Chunli, Ken & Yun teams which is far far worse than a Sagat & Blanka team.

Wrong. SFIII: 3S is eight years old and the fastest characters with the hardest-to-parry attacks are still on top. There are a few people that use low-tier characters like Hayao and his Hugo, but other than that it's Ken/Yun/Chun with a bit of Makoto.

It use convex buttons & a japanese style stick. I think it was probably cost close to $20 for the parts. That's hard core dude. Roughing out a home made joystick from random parts gets my respect.

My point is that, characters rating move up and down on the chart versus because of new strategies. In a matchup that is rated 9:1, might now be 7:3. Such as new ways to link Necro's SA2 gave him an option he didn't have before or partition charge Urien that makes it easier to do his unblockable from anywhere on screen. I've been out of the hardcore 3s scene for 2 years so a lot of the finer details are a bit blurry now.

As for the diagram, I'm pretty sure it's up to date, since I pulled it from the japanese 3s wiki page (separate from wikipedia itself btw), and the site has up to date SBO qualifier lists, so it's being maintained regularly.

Dont know how to check for sure, but it's like 10 frames. I am using a 3.0 Ghz, 800 ram computer with a onboard ATI on win xp. I don't seem to have too much trouble playing the old counter strike or any thing. Does any one have any ideas of why the emulation of 3rd strike could be so slow. it pretty much requires a dual core for smooth play.

Does it stack between rounds? like say you pick akuma and bust 3 taunts in round 1, then round 2 do you start back at 0 bonus or at the 3 taunt max bonus? I know it doesnt carry over between new opponents. Im just talking about rounds of the same fight. And I read that super jump is down up but I can't seem to do it. AFAIK there is no super jump is SF3,

Super jump is just down up (it's not like the Vs series super jump, more like KoF/CvS2), it's easiest to notice with Urien imho.
