I don't think that was the issue with D2. It was probably more of a design issue than an actual content issue.
I think they just need to rectify how they do their Y1 DLC is done. There's no way they can make that first DLC worth it if its supposed to come out just a couple months after launch.
I think their idea for the Y2 DLC post-Forsaken is going to be ideal. They spend way too much time on the story content and not enough on the meat of the game, this is so apparent in both HoW and CoO.

Finally got Whisper of the Worm. Embarrassingly, I did nothing... Never saw an enemy as I got lost and finally kept dying to the jumps

It seems Bungie created a great many puzzles and mysteries with a wide variety of difficulty levels. Whatever level of player you are and whatever amount of time you have to devote to the game you can have a good challenge figuring things out.

Nope. The development is starting right now. Chris Barrett game director. Luke Smith still there in a big role.
Guardians using Darkness. Open World PvPvE areas.
I’ve never said it would be like that joke that the Dark Zone is. Never. Think more about it like fight for a territory, where PvP is there for a reason and not for griefing the heck out of people.
Thank you. Just know that Destiny 3 will be even more “hardcore-y” than Forsaken. And finally they’re going to push the RPG side of the game.
Destiny 2 vanilla was their idea from the beginning. The “reboot” didn’t change that, the game was born to be for casuals. If Destiny 3 will really have the ideas they want to implement, trust me, a lot of Guardians who play two hours per week will abandon the game. They are going balls out with the RPG stuff.

Ah, interesting. I figured Callus and Mara were setting up a sequel outside the solar system.

'Destiny 3 will be hardcore' makes me seriously doubt anything being said when the entire industry is running really hard in the other direction.

Take the hardcore part with a pinch of salt. At the end of the day Destiny is still going to be a commercial product aimed at the big gaming audience. This is Activision we are talking about.

Yeah, for sure. That was probably like the most frustrating thing about D2, is that I can easily see them going for the best of both worlds, like they have with Forsaken. It wouldnt take much.
Perhaps hardcore is the wrong word, but like, I'd imagine more stuff to pursue/grind. You wont have casuals hitting light cap just by doing heroic events.
|
If D3 turns out to be hardcore, like say, Aeon? It will be in the bargain bins a few months after release.

Forsaken's balance of casual and hardcore feels about right. Just keep the direction and it should be good. I would add deeper class customization and be done with it.

what would be cool is that you have to declare your D3 character as either "Light" or "Dark". Creating a conflict something like "The Horde" versus "The Alliance" of WoW. It'd be cool if you can carry your level ~600 D2 character into D3 and then have to make the "Light"//"Dark" decision. That'd be cool.

Interesting that Bungie has not closed down the API that makes DestinyTracker possible. Now why would that be?
Forsaken had 4 million players in its first week and the week before D2 Vanilla had 1.3 million players. Keep in mind some people bought the game and didn't play in that release week. So, ~3 million paying customers with a MINIMUM $40 buy in is not a bad haul for an expansion. By comparison, Starcraft2 expansions hit 1 million buys at a MAXIMUM $40 price tag.

These Ascendant challenges are a lot of fun.
I like Borderlands. Borderlands2 + Season's Pass was $90 USD. I'd say $160 USD for two years of Destiny2 offers more content per $ spent.

Awesome! Keep us updated with those content value per $ when Black Armory comes out.
Have any of you guys gotten the Ikelos shotgun? I really need to farm that still.

Ikelos shotgun is like a must-have for high-level endgame activities, much like Whisper of the Worm

ikelos SG is far too strong and honestly i'm forcing myself to only use it for the raid + Show Spoiler [raid spoilers] +and honestly even for the raid i'm trying to wean myself off of it; in all the shotgun encounters (shuro chi, morgeth, vault), acrius is just as good if not better. use more acrius!

I only use it when I really have to lol. At 600 I pretty much can use whatever loadout I want in most activities and using some off meta weapons is a lot of fun.

i think you misread my comment or i should've been more clear. If Bungie adds nothing more to the game i'm happy with the quantity of the content and i'd say its more content per $ than Borderlands2. That said, we are going to see more content over the next 9 months or so.
I was not going to update this comment every couple of months but seeing as you want updates i'll be happy to give them.
cheers fellow Guardian!
