It's a frequent complaint in every game. The changes they made to to Civ 5 and Civ 6 made it worse. I think the AI has more trouble with 1upt and unstacking cities.

I'm primarily a turn based game player so I just deal with it. I'm not interested in multiplayer 4x games and have mostly stopped playing multiplayer games in general.
While I have enjoyed watching some of the EU4 dev clashes, I don't play GSG/4X games in multiplayer because I really enjoy the play-at-your-own-pace aspects of those games
I'm playing multiplayer, if two people ally and someone wins by religion, does the other allied person "win" as well?
Also, can I use my boats to capture missionaries who are traveling on water?
I'm playing a game now with co-workers where the two of them have decided to just accept one major religion and are moving their apostles and missionaries to me. I am placing inquisitors on all my bases but I want to also start making boats since I'm so advanced in tech and start capturing their shit.
If you are at war I believe you can destroy their units in water similar to pillaging a trade route. They can't attack back to actual naval units. If you are not at war then you can't interact with them.
I don't play multiplayer much, but I am pretty sure Religious victory is given to whoever founded the religion. A second player who has gained this religion and is allied doesn't also get a victory just because he is doing work for the guy who founded the religion.

Ok, so my co-workers are just idiots. He doesn't want to win he just wants to help the guy. Last guy is passive, doesn't want to do anything.
Any advise on winning science faster? I've finished two science victories so far, both somewhere between 300-400 turns. Both games the AI did nothing to interfere with me, so I feel like if my build order or city management was a little better, I could probably win a bit faster.

It's kind of like two of the same unit stacked, but not nearly 2x as strong. They don't start with any more promotion levels than a normal unit. Generally just making 2 of the same unit instead will give more bang for your buck, but there are situations where having fleets or armadas is worthwhile. If you have a very high production city or anticipate having a lot of gold in the future to upgrade it, or if you are likely to be fighting in tight spaces where you can't fit more than one unit. Sometimes you can make a fleet when retiring a great admiral and avoid the production cost.

Makes me feel like building these Seaports is a big waste of time

Yea, their value is pretty dependent on how many water tiles your city is working. For me I'll usually specialize just one or 2 cities on sea / naval stuff. But it can definitely be good to have a fleet if you know you're going into a naval war. And if you can get a fleet, some support ships, and a great admiral all together you're really terrorizing the high seas.
