I will say that people being unable to understand the story/dialogue has put most of the criticism unfairly against the gameplay, since people can't critique the story. I do have high expectation for the story and character writing, and even with Gaiden's gameplay, if the story is good enough my impressions of the game could end up good overall (PoR and Sacred Stones are both well-regarded FE games with weaker gameplay and strong story/characters). I just think it's useful to temper my expectations for the gameplay with what I've seen. Other than modern UI improvements, the core gameplay isn't particularly improved over Gaiden's. But the game still looks gorgeous, the soundtrack is arguably the best in the series, the UI is as good as any of the 3DS games, and the support system plays better than basically any other game I've played. Who knows though, maybe chocorush will post having played the JP leak and tell us all that the story is shit and crush my dreams lol.

unfortunately my bonus character sophia is only 4s L32 so I probably missed out on an easy 100-150 extra points there ![]()

seems like the strat of picking a shit tier waifu first round, dumping all my flags, and then swapping off to the hype train is working pretty well. #1 overall guy seems to be at about 125k score.

Doesnt scoring higher on the last round give more feathers or are they all equal

It's been a while since I played it last (though my first time with the new translation patch), and it's not a game that I really like to come back to *that* often since it can be rather tedious at times. That said, it's nonetheless my favorite game in the series, and one that I would still recommend people give a try at some point. Now to decide between trying to pushed through the leaked version of SoV or to give Thracia another go. Either way, I'll be pushing through some questionable translations.

At this point wait for May to play echoes. I personally want to try thracia simply because mareeta sounds like a hell of a lot of fun to use. Ive tried to get into holy war, and it seems like the game that could be improved most upon with the echoes treatment. With it being the OG marriage/children game it's got a great hook for newer fans as well. A lot of older fans will instantly love it for being Holy War.

There are at least 5-ish units I would consider worse than Marty.

(I could see that being the case, but I have no idea who actually is worse, I'm guessing those two archers you get at the start would be down there)

The units that are definitely worse than Marty are Selfina's squad (Kain, Alva, Robert) and Shanam. Miranda, Selfina, Carrion, and the other myrms are also varying degrees of bad though I'm not sure if all of them are definitively worse than Marty (Mareeta's actually fine since if nothing else she supports Galzus). Galzus and Sety join late but they're still super useful for cleaning up the annoying lategame chapters. Sara recruits with B staves 3 levels from promotions and goes up to A on promotion so she's automatically useful.

Is resetting worth the trouble in general or is my $/hour effort going to be really low? As someone who is f2p and didnt reset, all i can say is that i regret it. While i do have some 5stars atm missing out on practically free 2 5stars is painful for alot of the quests that are definitely do-able but will require time and consumables. Due to some poor rolls my main strategy is mainly to lvlup the masses of 4star units that i have in order to have a variety of semi-decent units to overcome my lack of strong units obviously skill inheritance helps alot but that shouldnt be ur main concern atm. The main example of this is that hector at lvl40, pretty much solos all the grand hero battles, which you definitely dont want to miss out on cause once they're past we're probably not gonna see those heros again for a long time. Ideally i wouldnt want you to miss out on those heros especially now that a ton of them are planned out for the next few months. It'll let you focus on lvling up the 2-3 5stars that u got from rerolling so you can catch up to a point where u dont feel walled off by starting off recently Seeing as u are some what late to the party in having this variety, where others can rely on using a bunch of lvl40s units to finish quests, you cant as you wont have that time to train up so many units to cover all ur bases. I would keep rerolling for at least two very strong stand alone heros, you dont need to worry about combinations or skill inheritance atm just get some good units to help yourself. Like: thraja, takumi, hector, lucina, linde, kagero, julia etc.. trust me they will help you so much in completing missions that you would otherwise have to grind multiple heroes for.

Is resetting worth the trouble in general or is my $/hour effort going to be really low? You probably want at least one decent 5*. I didn't reset because I didn't really think about such things but I also got lucky because I got Marth 5* off the bat, followed a few pulls later by Nowi 5*. 4* characters at level 40 can handle specific 5* characters at level 40 but it's more of a "how can I counter what I'm likely to find" scenario. For example, Subaki at 4* with sapphire lance will completely decimate 5* sword users. For the challenges and stuff, you'll probably be fine with 4* characters, and it's 2000 feathers to upgrade a 3* to a 4* so it's not hard to get those. For arena, there are a few specific heroes who are just a huge pain to deal with (Takumi) without a very particular lineup, but for the most part you do reasonably well with a mostly-4* lineup. Assuming you have one of the bonus heroes for that week. Ultimately, if you're the kind of person who likes to play their RPGish games with the optimal perfect 100% uber-powerful best build ever kind of lineups, then you should probably reset until you hit Takumi or Lucina or like three 5* characters off the bat. If you're anything other than that, one 5* is fine (edit: unless it's a staff user), and if you like building your team from the ground up, I wouldn't worry about it. Anyone can become a 5* (Sharena, one of your starters, is actually pretty strong), it just takes a really long time. But that might be fun in itself, if that's your thing.
