I've just been collecting orbs from the special quest and login bonus just to have them in the eventuality that they add something more interesting to the game. Otherwise, the game's mostly just made me want to play another Conquest run lol.

Actually because of Heroes (still no 5* for me), I went and am replaying my Conquest draft run from a while back. It's a lot of fun even though I am just casually playing through it now.

Usually what FE does is balance out range with lower stat growths and lower availability of high Mt spells, but there just aren't enough stats and inventory to tinker with here.
I'd say it's still enjoyable when compared to other mobile games. Still don't know why they don't give us full games though. It's like YuGiOh Duel Links, the ruleset is super simplified, with no real justification. If they released full YuGiOh of Fire Emblem games (they clearly have good engines already), I'd be ready to shell 60 bucks for that.

In the end it's a gacha game and people should not expect as much depth as in the real FE games imo. But it's still solid enough gameplay wise imo and the collecting part is what makes it special. Getting excited about summons, comparing your draws with your friends etc..., if that part is not for you, the normal FE games will serve you better of course.
One plus point is that they can keep working on the game, and hopefully balance, maps and some mechanics will improve. We will also get more and more levels and new stuff to play, so there is always something to look forward to. Since it's making them a lot of money, it's not unlikely that there will be content for quite some time.
But again, if you want to play something for hours and hours and really dive into the game, don't play the gacha mobile game .

Oh yeah, Veronica must be really hard without a heavy hitting red unit.

It's not like there aren't other gacha games with better progression elements and more diverse content though. Not everything wrong with FEH can be attributed to it being a gacha game.

It has to be really easy to get into, since the majority will never have played a FE game before and more importantly, it also has to be good for playing it for 1 or 2 minutes while waiting for the bus.
So that explains the smaller scale with less movement and smaller maps and stuff for me.
They can improve a lot, but I think it's a good game.
At least compared to other gacha games, the draw rates are way better, 3% on 5* units (focus) is really good. Might actually be doable to get a nice collection f2p.

I think the game's pretty fine for what it is. I didn't expect much more really (actually I expected worse lol). Any improvements over time or if they find clever ways of challenging better players would just be a bonus, though I think it would behoove them to put effort into that (rather than just more characters).

I'm currently running Marth, Nowi, Camilla, and Jakob. Nowi is the clear monster here. Not only does she have 1-2 range on retaliation, but she's surprisingly tanky.
But luckily due to hacked 3ds, I have access to every FE game except archenea and tellius, so it's not like I'm in short supply.

Game is pretty good for mobile, but goddamn that progression scheme is abusive. Rerolled six times to get a 5*, then opened only one 4* in the next 10 heroes. At this point the progression basically stops, and anyway there's nothing left to learn, it's all grind.
I like it for what it could be, but I deeply hate the addictive nature they pursue. This is pretty destructive. It should be a 10$ game with linear progression, difficulty through larger maps and better AI, but apparently those don't sell well, so they decide to chase the whales, and in the end, everybody loses...

Yeah that's what Super Mario Run had right, or whatever it was called. Everyone complained about that 10 dollars (me included tbf)
Now that they know what the alternative is, perhaps they don't mind
Personally I'm happy with FE, it's not too hard to farm 20 orbs over and over for additional summoning sessions. I have my 4 five star heroes now, two of them are A-tier but that's ok. I'm assuming the "new game bonus" of 2 orbs/day will change into a daily login bonus of 1-2 orbs per day eventually, and then I'm fine with that.
Btw: 3 new Arena quests were added with the last update, you have until the end of februari to complete them.

Just finished my playthrough of my Conquest draft again.
Was lots of fun, although lost Azura on the last possible turn because Selena didn't crit, oh well.
Long recap: + Show Spoiler +Alventenie: Leo + Forrest, Keaton + Velouria, Selena, Nyx, Peri Was a lot of fun to do this again. Went a completely different route with my characters. Definitely enjoyed this run a lot more than the one I did the first time. Played around with heart seals a whole lot more and didn't realize how many bow class users I could field (although I did not pursue that). Male Corrin Prince!Noble to 15, reclass to Swordmaster. Did a Nohrian Trust setup so I had Dragon Fang/Astra/Nohrian Trust and paired up with a Paladin Peri (Luna/Aegis/Sol). Leo just leveled up normally. He capped speed/mag and was solid overall. Selena I did Merc!Hero to 5, reclass to bow knight. She just took care of any shuriken users. Nyx I did tons of work with. Did Dark Mage to 10, reclass to Outlaw!Adventurer to 5 then reclass to Sorcerer to 15 reclass to Dark knight. She was insane for my run, maxing out Mag/Spd. Had very nice results from her throughout the game and end game she destroyed Takumi. Bowbreaker/Lucky Seven/Heartseeker/Mov+1/Lifetaker. Had her at 10 move with pair up and she blazed through everything. Peri also did a good amount of work with. Cav!Great Knight to 5, reclass to Paladin to 15, reclass Hero to 18, reclass back to Paladin. Ended up with max Str/Spd with Luna/Aegis/Sol for Nohrian Trust bonuses. Even on her own she was pushing 40+ Str with Velouria pair up/Str tonic. Forrest had Leo/Peri parents. Gave him Luna/Heartseeker from parents and built him as my Strategist to help Felicia who was my main healer. He was good, maxing speed/res (40 res with no pair ups). He did very well up against Res units with Luna procs (He actually 1 rounded Iago). Keaton didn't do much, mostly pair up fodder, but I did go and reclass him to Berserker for hp+5/Rally str. Velouria was awesome as well, having a sol/hp+5 from parents (Keaton/Selena), she was very well rounded unit that could hold her own. I mostly used her for pair ups at the end, but she was really good beefy unit. Here are my stats on some of my main units: Corrin (Gunter pair up): + Show Spoiler + Hp: 43 Atk: 59 Crit: 33 Hit: 147 Avo: 94 Str: 40 Skill: 30 Spd: 38 Lck: 35 Def: 33 Res: 32
Nyx (Jacob pair up): + Show Spoiler + Atk: 55 Crit: 9 Hit: 131 Avo: 65 Hp: 50 Mag: 41 Skill: 22 Spd: 35 Lck: 26 Def: 23 Res: 25
Peri (Keaton pair up): + Show Spoiler + Hp: 43 Atk: 55 Crit: 10 Hit: 149 Avo: 53 Str: 44 Skill: 24 Spd: 37 Lck: 36 Def: 29 Res: 25
Leo (Forrest pair up): + Show Spoiler + Hp: 50 Atk: 53 Crit: 15 Hit: 137 Avo: 58 Mag: 41 Skill: 24 Spd: 28 Lck: 32 Def: 23 Res: 34

How exactly do you farm for Orbs? As from what I've seen there is no way to do that after you run out of story missions.
All you get are the occasional few pity orbs from quests/events but that's a far cry from being farming.
End game is just a joke between no Orb income and high stamina costs.

By farming I meant story missions yeah. After that no more farming I guess
But if you're at the point where you have completed all the story missions, you don't desperately need orbs anymore right?

I come from FGO where the rate on 5* characters is 1% so a pity timer with a base 3% is excessively generous to me.
All they really need to do is keep a steady flow of content (and it sounds like they plan to release new content every 2 weeks) as well as have some sort of real daily login bonus. The 2 orbs are nice but they're going to disappear eventually, I just hope they don't stop giving orbs as rewards entirely.

I definitely enjoy the collecting and leveling heroes deal. Haven't spent any money yet, so I have a bunch of 3* and 4* heroes with just a couple 5*, but it's fun seeing what skills people get as you boost their potential, and by 4* people seem to level pretty well. I've been leveling the starter characters a lot and they've actually gotten pretty strong at 4*, which sort of fits the old FE feel of watching your Nino go from underleveled whelp to superpowerful slaying machine. The arena I think could get more interesting since if you don't have at least one level 25+ 5* hero it seems like it would be impossible, and if you do then it's just a matter of managing the AI to ensure your monster stays alive while theirs doesn't. Which is fun for me, but idk for how long.

I got a 5* Takumi last night (from the one where he's not a focus), pretty pleased since I didn't have anyone solid in my ranged slot yet. Still need some strong blue/green. Really hoping for Robin before the focus summons go away.

But if you're at the point where you have completed all the story missions, you don't desperately need orbs anymore right? Correct me if I'm wrong, but afaik, there are 45 story missions, and 3 difficulties, for a total of 135 orbs. Then you get a bit more from events and stuff, so let's say you have enough to open 40 heroes. On average, you'll have less than three 5* hero, assuming a 6% open rate. Assuming you rerolled early to get a 5* hero, it means the majority won't even have a full 5* team when everything is said and done, after days of grinding, and basically no way to upgrade 4* into 5* because feathers might as well not exist.
For the majority of the story, you might not even have a decent 4* backup team. Thankfully, using proper counters for missions is not mandatory due to abysmal AI, but it still removes the whole strategy aspect of the game, as you have no meaningful choice in team building. All that's left is the grind and the gambling addiction, as PvP is a joke, and I haven't heard of any boss/endgame content.

managed to scurry up another round of summons, and i finally got some nonblue units. didn't get anything i wanted but it seems decent.
fae and corrin's attack debuff don't stack, right? i'm thinking of replacing corrin with fae, and then put in lucina for someone, maybe one of the robins. kagero looks interesting, pretty strong vs infantry
