Felicia S-Rank as Maid gives +3 Mag +5 Spd +3 Luk +2 Res (also provides varying similar bonuses as Hero or Bow Knight) Nyx S-Rank as Sorcerer gives +8 Mag +2 Spd +3 Res Odin A-Rank as Swordmaster gives +1 Str +1 Mag +5 Spd +4 Luk Niles A-Rank as Bow Knight gives +3 Skl +5 Spd +1 Res +1 Mov Selena S-Rank as Bow Knight gives +1 Str +4 Skl +5 Spd +1 Def +1 Mov (also provides varying similar bonuses as Hero or Sky Knight promotions)
These are probably your best options.
EDIT: Xander is a little better with Charlotte or Selena since they give more physically-skewed pair up bonuses. Felicia's bonuses are better for a magic unit.
It just occured to me typing this post that Felicia's Bow Knight pair up bonuses are probably better than her Maid ones, even for a magic unit.

Thanks Yango, that's a lot of good information you've given me.
Also where do you find this information? It's not on Serenes Forest is it?
I know there are better pair ups for Xander, but because I did support grinding early I have to live with the consequences of my actions.
This is my life now.

It's not a big deal, the difference between Selena Bow Knight and Felicia Bow Knight pair up bonuses is like +1 Mag +2 Res vs. +1 Str +1 Skl +1 Def. 2 more Res isn't even bad for Xander, and Leo is fine with the Skl/Def. Best option would probably be either her or one of the 2 retainer A-ranks (the retainers' supports grow faster, but Selena gets you Forrest).
It's on Serenes under the pair up bonuses section, though you have to add the character bonuses to the various potential class values.

The only available single ladies I have left are Beruka and Felicia.
I could consider A-support retainers but ideally the support would come from someone I'm already using in my main team.

I missed that Nyx's second class set is Outlaw. That actually means she ALSO has Bow Knight access, and her pair up bonuses would be +3 Mag +3 Skl +5 Spd +1 Mov. Arguably the best spread and at least comparable to Felicia (and better than any of the others listed).
EDIT: If you have those 2 girls left, then I would give Beruka to Xander and Felicia to Leo. Beruka has Zerker access so she's pretty much always at least a decent physical pair up after reclassing.
|
I should also mention that Xander is the only male character that I have left to marry.
I work fast when it comes to supports haha.
Would you still recommend Beruka for Xander then? I might do Felicia anyways.
|
Yes, though you probably have to Heart Seal Beruka over to Fighter and instapromote her to Berserker. Giving no personal +Spd pair up bonus is pretty awkward for Xander and Wyvern pair-up bonuses aren't helpful to him at all. Berserker pair-up bonuses are total lolz though for physical units.

Okay.
Also I think I've finally decided that I'll drop Leo for Shura.
I'll keep you posted on how well that goes.
Also are A+ supports functionally the same as S supports as far as pair up bonuses go?

I also just generally like the Kaze/Xander and Silas/Ryoma supports. Done and Done.
Assuming Kaze being a Master Ninja?
Also Yango we should have gotten a chat room instead of doing a dozen posts each on this forum haha!

As an aside, if you have trouble fitting Beruka into your team as a pair-up bot, Kaze A-rank (+3 Skl +5 Spd +1 Res +1 Mov) is also good for Xander (arguably better).

I'm actually trying Mechanist Kaze on my current run, since it balances out his stats, but Mechanist gives significantly worse pair-up bonuses (for Xander at least).
|
I like Kaze more as a Mechanist (I did Master Ninja in Birthright and Mechanist in Conquest).
Biggest advantage is that he seems to gain more str, but you give up the use of any magical shurikens later. Also Mechanist has that automaton killer thing which is helpful in killing stoneborns/automatons.
Both of them still deal with Mages easily. I may have gotten lucky but my Kaze maxed out 5 stats on Mechanist during my Conquest run (no stat buff items, all natural).
|
The draw of Mechanist is Replicate cuz Replicate is a broken skill, but you still want to get the Master Ninja skills either way.
|
I married Kaze to Corrin on my Revelations run and had Kaze and the 2 kids with replicate in the last few chapters. Kana is actually pretty good if you can have two of the running around.
|
Does Midoriko with Replicate and Profiteer double-trigger Profiteer on her Replicate?
|
I never noticed it trigger off of her replicate, but I used the second one as a support bot on the second Kaze for most of the time.

Welp, I'm having fun with it so far. All the maps were pretty straightforward until 9, which I had to reset on a couple times due to me being stupid and a couple due to them landing 3-4 ~60% hits in one turn. Mission 10 was fairly difficult until I figured out who to send where. Even then, my final run caused me to forsake the Dracoshield village that I normally got with the super dragon knight. Hope that won't become too relevant in the future. After that mission, finally swapped Jacob to Paladin with the Heart Seal and upgraded Elise to Tactician with the Master Seal.
I gave up on leveling the pre-promoted unit because you can't abuse pair-up or easy side missions like you can in Awakening so it's not really worth the effort. Right now, the only super weak units that I have are the axe guy (bad Vaike) because his stats are horrible and his level ups have been bad enough that I've started just using him for the pair-up STR bonus and Odin because you get a much better mage 1 mission later and he's kind of pointless.
Also, apparently, if you kill the maid character in the battle, you don't get her at the end despite her pledging loyalty to you. I remember resetting once or twice trying to figure out who to talk to her with and nobody would, so I'm kind of pissed that they made you lose that opportunity with no notice whatsoever.
Took a preliminary swing at mission 11, accidentally almost beat it, but not paying attention to the ninjas having lunge got me.

Recruitment in spoilers if you want: + Show Spoiler +You can't recruit Flora right now anyway. You get her after Chapter 19 if you have a level 3 Fire Orb in you castle. She arrives after you do a battle and return to your castle with the Fire Orb already upgraded. I am unsure if killing her in the ice chapter prevents you from recruiting her.
|
As I mentioned before in the thread, prepromote/early promote rules are different, where their internal level is not always 21 like it was previously in the series.
Camilla recruits at --/1 but is actually treated as a level 16 unit for the purpose of experience gain.
Other units with internal level adjustments: Jakob/Felicia recruit at --/1 but is treated as a level 1 unit Gunther recruits at --/10 but is treated as a level 15 unit Reina (Birthright) recruits at --/1 but is treated as a level 16 unit Leo recruits at --/2 but is treated as a level 20 unit
Any unit you promote before level 20 is treated as a (promoting level + 20)/2 + displayed level unit (e.g. someone you insta-promoted at 10 would be treated as a level 16 unit).

You wound me deeply good sir.
Ironically, Bad Axe Guy (B.A.G.) is what let me get the Dracoshield in chapter 10!

Arthur and Vaike are actually very similar units--underrated combat units that can be useful in casual play, but are overshadowed by their pair-up bonuses in efficiency play.
I wouldn't call Arthur a "bad Vaike". The fact that he gets you one of the best kids on the route already makes him much more useful than Vaike (whereas Vaike is a very mediocre father in Awakening).

It's pretty hilarious how even with a shuriken equipped and tomebreaker, the mages still have like a 30% chance to hit you on chapter 26. I heard a lot of hate about the staves, but they were probably the easiest thing to deal with compared to the sheer ridiculousness of the units themselves.
As a whole I like these last chapters a lot on lunatic, as they feel like intricate puzzles to pick apart, but without the disruptive pacing mechanics like the pass untargetable foxes in chapter 19 and the wind in chapter 20.
