PME = pick my edit. It's basically like a PMU (pick my units) except instead of picking which units to use, people pick ways for you to hack the game and change shit. Radiant duo are solid games to play kinda any time. I'd play FE8 first, but after that just play them whenever. | ||

Beyond that, you can't really go wrong with unit selection. The nice thing about Fire Emblem 8 is that you can use anyone and you can clear the game - though choice picks will make your life easier. | ||

I guess if you're playing through without using Tower of Valni or whatever it's called she's probably not as good. But man, my first playthrough with her she literally dodged everything, and I didn't even build her in a particularly careful way. | ||

On top of which, the trainees don't even have better growths than other units. They just have more levels to gain, which means you expend more resources to make them good, but don't get more out. They only have any sort of meaningful advantage at 20/20 with infinite XP, otherwise at any point prior they aren't giving you better value for what you put in. And on top of all that, the trainee classes all have 4 Mov prior to promotion rather than normal infantry movement, making them uniquely annoying to use. | ||
