It hits armor knights even harder because their movement penalty on desert is a factor of 3 instead of 2 (meaning they only have 1 Mov). Also, Milo said he's willing to do a draft again if you guys want to do the FE8 draft at some point. If we can find a 5th, that'd be fine, but it works okay with 4. I'm in. I'll make a serious effort to actually play through this time. Hope you guys are ready for some predictable draft picks. please pick amelia first
Or don't, and let that dumb bitch be picked last...either way I'm ready when you guys are

I won't be home for another hour or two, we can do it then.
If I counted correctly a 4 person FE8 draft has 2 left-over shared picks. Very likely Amelia will be one of the two.

frudgey can you get on now?

I'm posting this for my own sake, but:
My team for the draft:
Gilliam Natasha L’Arachel Colm Gerik Ewan Amelia
Rules: 1) Seth is banned. 2) Lords, Tethys and Myrrh are free. 3) Orson was not drafted. 4) All can be used on 5x.

so now that I'm done with echoes, I want to go back and play the earlier games, where should I start
|
Which ones have you played other than Echoes?
EDIT: My team, for posterity:
Franz Cormag Tana Saleh Rennac Garcia Knoll
Now to find a JP FE8 rom because I want to experience the hilarity of JP Eirika route Cormag.

The two best candidates are Effie and Klein on 4*, both are pretty good and pulled their weight even as 4*s. Other 4*s are Eliwood, Olivia, Raven, Cecilia, Lyn, Azama, Donnel. Most feels underwhelming except Olivia but I really want to keep my dancers at their current level while the Tempest Trial is ongoing.
For 3*, the only ones I'm currently feeling like they might be good to 5* are Nino, another Olivia (my main dancer atm since its higher leveled than the 4* one), and the starter trio of Anna, Alfonse and, Shareena.
I would say Nino is the strongest out of all of those since you currently have no strong green and she can handle greens and blues very well with the right team and skill inheritance. The reason I'd do her over Effie is that you already have 2 5* blues and while Effie is a monster, three of one color kind of limits what lineups you're able to beat.
I would definitely not do Azama since you already have Mist, and sadly, I don't think Donnel is particularly good in this game, even though he's one of my favs from Awakening. Plus, same problem as with Effie, he's yet another blue.
Sharena is the strongest of the starters, but she's blue, so yeah.
The second strongest pick imo is Lyn, she's also a cool character because if you can set her up properly she does a ton of damage in one turn. She also has good def and res stats, which is rare for a sword character. I like her more than Eliwood, especially since his C special is best with other cavs. Olivia is a respectable 5* but she also doesn't need to be 5* to do what you need her to do most of the time.
So yeah, Nino or Lyn, probably Nino. Until I put G Tomebreaker 3 on Julia, Nino teams were the bane of my arena runs.

FE7 has a better tutorial but if you've played 3DSFE games you dont need that. Beyond that the story and general design of FE8 takes a lot of cues from Gaiden, and a lot of it's features were later redesigned and reused in the 3DSFE games. It's pretty much the perfect bridge between the newer and older FE games.
Also, seeing as we just drafted it, we'll be around to answer your questions.

Corrin(M)'s a red sword, Corrin(F)'s the one that's the blue dragon (had a 4* version of this but used it to pass Dragon Aura to Cecilia since I'm realistically not going to use her with Nowi around). So only 1 5* blue and 1 5* red atm. I'd consider Nino then, Lyn did not perform that well when I started using her, might be a lack of skills invested into her but she did not add a lot to the teams I used her on to level. Might be the way I used her though, I'll give her another shot.
And I do realise that a high amount of my good units are blue. Its been an issue from the start really, game likes to give me blue orbs and I like to gamble on the chance of getting more Nowis to merge. So I end up with a surplus of blue units that won't ever see the light of day.

any interesting builds to come out from marth masked considering she has absolutely no passives and needs to inherit everything? edit: okay turns out its just a lucina clone with neutral iv's

Indeed :D. I've got high hopes for interesting builds with this Quickened Pulse seal though.

The other good thing about Fire Emblem 8 is that it has Gilliam in it.
Fire Emblem 8 is also easier than a lot of the other games in the series, which can both be good and bad, depending on the perspective.
Also, it was the first Fire Emblem I've ever played and look where I am now!

Oh oops, I saw Corrin(M) and thought Robin(M)
Yeah, I think Nino is probably the way to go then.

Which one has fire marth?

6 has Roy, but it's a lot more different from modern FE, and is not localized (there's translation patches).
I would recommend playing 8 -> 6 -> 7. 6 is my favorite of the 3 GBA games but its definitely the least beginner-friendly.

I should warn you that it's a bit tough. Easily the most difficult gba game.
Fire Emblem 7 (featuring Lyn Eliwood and Hector) is a prequel to 6 and the first to come out outside of Japan.
EDIT: Goddamnit Yango... Personally I would go 7 -> 8 -> 6. 7 for me is the best start to the series thanks to lyn mode, but 8 is disconnected to the other 2... I would personally just recommend playing 6 last regardless of which you start with.
|
If he were totally new to the series, I would agree. But he's already played all 3 3DSFE entries. There's no reason to start with 7 for someone who already is experienced with 3DSFE--Sacred Stones is closer to modern FE than FE7. And if you're not playing 7 first for tutorial reasons, it's better to play 6->7 in release order.
|
I like Fire Emblem 7, but I think I just enjoy Fire Emblem 8 much more.
There's many reasons, but I do think Fire Emblem 8 has a much more interesting plot than Fire Emblem 7. That's just me though.
