Why defense on an archer?

Well he will likely get hit eventually by stuff, and having 5 defense is prone to getting one shot =/. He already takes 20+ damage from archers nearing the end of part 1 and only has 24 life.

Angelic robe and planning not getting hit by three shots is more effective imo, especially on units that shouldn't be getting hit enemy phase like archers. Dragon shield is more effective on characters that are already tanking large amounts of hits.

Agreed with chocorush. The general rule with Dracoshields is to give them to units that are sort of bulky but not yet functionally unkillable (e.g. FE7 Marcus, FE10 Jill, Conquest Camilla)--as someone else once put it to me "shields for knights, robes for mages".

The incremental gain of 2 defense is much higher the bulkier you already are. If you already get 1HKOed or 2HKOed by everything, it takes a lot of defense to make you go up to getting 3HKOed (which is the only functionally meaningful measure of survivability). It might make your numbers look better on paper, but if you have 24 HP and take 20 damage per hit, 2 more Def doesn't take you from being 2HKOed to 3HKOed, so your practical survivability doesn't change. Whereas if you are already 4 or 5HKOed, it takes less defense to go up to getting 6HKOed because your defense gets to apply on more hits before you die.

This eventually does hit a limit when you aren't feasibly going to tank more enemies than you already do anyway so getting more Def doesn't matter. Someone like Haar or Xander doesn't need the Dracoshields because they've already passed the threshold of functional invincibility to physical damage.

so now that im past it...whats the strategy on the tatarrah/delthea sluice gate level?

Despite using the turnwheel on a crit, it seemed delthea could just teleport to whoever she wanted and one shot the person with the least Res. then you couldnt kill her but she continues to follow you and attempt to kill people.

What was the strategy here? I lost two people on it

She can't cast at 1 HP because spells cost HP. Undeploy anyone she can 1-shot (should be doing this on any chapter with witches) and have Alm use the Royal Sword's Subdue skill to leave her at 1 HP.

Eventually Delthea will tele and unfortunately it seems a bit random but overall she warps behind you when you start to move towards the bridge. I kept my clerics back, didn't field any armors or cavs except for mathilda who was forward. The moment delthea comes at you attack her such that she is left with 1 health. Alm using his royal sword skill comes in handy here. At this point she will try and walk to the nearest heal tile. You can either block the tiles or just try to rush tatarra with everyone as fast as you can. It should be noted that I bench the deliverence hideout crew + Lukas at the start of act 3...

I play arena solely with a Nino lineup and she is completely buffed up on the first turn due to being able to rearrange units then i just reposition her out to blow someone up or ready to bait and kill them on their turn. Its a weaker version for a support unit that takes away the assist skill when her other a,b slots arent really contest for something. Personally reposition is my eirika rally it lets her move nino out of the way after a kill while staying next to her. If u run rally often u have to rally nino, then nino will move forward and miss out on the start of turn buffs next time around.

If you're lucky, you can also get Silque in range to warp DF Gray into the boss room before Delthea warps. Killing Tatarrah causes Delthea to retreat.

Python is worth raising if you don't make one of the villagers an archer, but undeploying him here is fine since he still sucks pretty bad at this point in the game. I use Lukas for a few chapters in Act 3 and Clive has enough bulk to sit back as a Mathilda support-bot, but Forsyth is insta-bench the moment you get him, lol.

I considered using python but his accuracy pains me. At least with leon in echoes he hits quite often, and his other stats aren't that bad either.

Python is basically shit till Bow Knight + Killer Bow. I can't blame anyone for not raising him (especially if they already have archer Kliff) but he eventually does pay off.

I have a pretty good tricore for my arena team, but I can't settle on a 4th. Hector/Cordelia/Tharja can take pretty much anything the game can throw at them as long as they stick to what they're good at, and Tharja benefits really well from a buffer. Right now, I have a Jeorge with Rally Speed and Hone Speed (or Spur, whichever one buffs), but he really doesn't do all that much.

You can just use that 4th spot for one of the week's bonus heroes, which you'll want to do anyway since using at least one bonus hero doubles the reward you can receive per battle. This week you've got Sharena and Olivia as potential budget bonus heroes, which is cool since they're both pretty good and I'd already upgraded both of them to 5* earlier.
Can someone please explain/how water falls with no rain?

-_- Pulled my 2nd 5* today with a random summon session but its a 5* Mist (was aiming for a 5* Klein or Takumi since my best archer is a 4* Klein right now). Oh well, at least I get to put Miracle or Spur Def/Res 2 on a support, does Dance charge specials? Also, between Gwendolyn or Effie, which would work better to build up on the blue armor slot?

Gwendolyn can take a hit (38 def) but isn't very useful. Effie hits like a truck, has highest attack in the game, and can double everyone with brave lance.

Speaking of Klein and Effie, I would recommend sacrificing Klein to the dark gods to inherit Deathblow 3 to Effie. He is the only 4★ in the game who can inherit that skill away.

If your roster is short on solid heroes currently I would also recommend not rolling on colorless anymore. Colorless doesn't have a great spot in the meta right now and you have a higher chance to get garbage compared to every other color.
