I get the whole tingly new player trap feeling with the free stuff. Game also gave me a Matthew, Raigh and Virion for free, not sure how good any of them are or if it is worth to spend time and resources to upgrade and level them.
If you mean you got matt raigh and virion from the prbs u open at the start of the game i would strongly recommend restarting the game like erase data and start game and keep restarting/rerolling until you hit a decent 5star unit or two.
Many people already did this at the release of the game, but its even more critcal for you as many of the missions to get free stuff require you to have strong units, and you would be surprised at how fast a 5star can lvl up to 40 if they are one of the top teir ones. While sharena is decent and the other two okayish having them with ur 5star makes a way better lineup than whatever you have atm. You would be hard pressed to complete grand hero battles (a battle that lets you get new and unique heros) without the advantage of time that others have had to lvlup a variety of units.
Edit: basically if u havnt invested a huge amount of time reroll for better stuff
Hmm, I got Virion from the 2nd prologue mission and right after that mission Matthew and Raigh appeared in my hero inventory basically out of nowhere if that is what you mean by the PRBS (idk what is this tbh). Didn't know those are randomised actually so I may try to reroll if there's really no penalty to restarting. What should I aim for, I'm not quite sure what is a "decent" 5 star.
I've kinda recognise that it'd take me a while to catch up level-wise, but from reading the Grand Battle news event, it seems that they rotate in once in a while? So I wouldn't completely miss out on Ursula even if I didn't manage to beat the mission by the time it closes this time around?
Have you used your orbs to summon yet? If you have, you could let us know what you got and we could tell you how worthwhile your pulls are.
Just done my first set of 5: Fir, Henry, Frederik, Stahl, Tharja. Tharja at 5 star, everything else at 3.
Tharja is ok if you have support for her tome. But you can (should) restart for something better.
yeah, try rerolling for 2 5stars, if u have the time. Tharja is a great hero once u get going shes amazing with the right support like nino and shes not too bad raw due her to high speed. or roll a single hector, i dont think hes dropped off from the highest teir in any list regardless of meta
Two 5 stars might take a while though, so if you just want to get to the game then there are some 5 stars you could probably go with solo to start. Ryoma, Ike, Lucina, Linde, Marth, Nowi... Maybe throw Julia and Hector in there too. Most of those guys have huge attack and speed and basically just destroy anything for a large portion of the game, while Hector and Nowi are more high-defense, high damage, counter-at-all-distances units.
Just don't settle for a 5 star staff user or you'll be disappointed.
Edit:
Okay, I started over and rushing for 20 orbs for the first pull. The redownloads are a pain.
Edit: Oh got a Cordelia (4), Jagen, Nino, Gaius and Donnel. Looks strictly worse than before. Meh.
Yeah, that's what I mean. Imo if you just wanna play, one 5 star is fine.
Huh, rerolled several times with no 5s but finally rolled into a 5 star Alm and a 4 star Marth. Other 3 are Raigh, Jagen Cherche. Worth keeping? Too bad Alm and Marth are both the same type, might be awkward to stack them both together into a team right?
Alm's on the borderline, I think. His attack at level 40 with Falchion is over 50 which means he'll slay plenty of whatever comes his way except maybe high def/sapphire lance blues. As a sort of "this is my main powerhouse character," I think he works, but of the characters who fill that role, he might be one of the weaker ones. Depends on how picky you are.
I think this all depends on how seriously you want to take the game lol. I started with just a 5* Marth when the game came out and I've since pulled about a dozen 5*s without paying for orbs. And I just got my first character to level 40 last night :/
Alm is a fine 5* start to carry yourself for a while and wait for good hero focuses. As are most 5*, especially if they're anywhere on the lists mentioned in the last page.
Waiting for a double 5* roll with a new account is going to take so many retries. Let alone waiting for two GOOD 5*s...
Just so you know what you're getting into with the reroll memes. when the game first came out (and everyone thought takumi was actually good), I ran 250~ rerolls total across 6 instances of Nox emulator to get a Hector + Takumi roll.
imo it's worth it to reroll with just the raw amount of time it will save you in the long run, but I'd highly recommend setting up Nox if you're really grinding it out for a good roll.
Takumi is good though, even if he's not considered god-tier anymore.
You don't need the perfect team from the get-go. Just something that will be able to carry you through the PvE section and score you some good runs through the arena. I had just Camilla/Roy to start out, and now I have multiple S-tier team configurations through diligent questing, arena runs, and gauntlets.
Everyone's been talking about Celica. And another healer, just what everyone needed!
Step 1: Roll for Genny Step 2: Sacrifice Genny to Lucius for her dmg skill Step 3: ??? Step 4: Kill literally everything
The skill is nice, but staff users are still barred from a lot of the offensive oriented passives like Fury. But maybe if you can have a healer who does reasonable damage you can fit it into a line-up.
I misread the 2nd tome that they previewed and thought it was the most broken thing that they've ever released, then I realized the syntax and translation is kinda poor. LOL

I'm not meme-ing that hard on the rerolls. I'm really not expecting double 5 stars for sure given that half the time I don't even roll a single one.
That said, I finally rerolled into a 5 star Nowi and decided to keep it. The pull itself is pretty ok, 4 star Matthew and Azama, 3 star Cecilia and Serra. Both healers look like a pain to level with no attacks, do they gain XP when they heal? Because I can't figure out how they would level up quickly otherwise.
They gain lvls when they heal...unlike dancers Now that you have Nowi, a blue user. I suggest grabbing olivia from the free rotation and using her. Cant really remember when she will be up again, it changes daily. Having a high lvl olivia (3stars is okay) isnt that big of a deal lvl25-30 is perfectly fine for her especially because u just want to utilise her dance.
I dont suggest lvling up matthew unless ur very attachted to him he only really offers hone spd 3(available at 4stars) as a good skill (but u have him at 4stars so u can just eat him later for inheritance lvl1 is all u need) Sadly ur pull with nowi had 3 colourless orbs which are packed full of healers and below average bow/dagger users. Very few are considered strong.
But the upside is that nowi can destroy reds and even more so when you are able to give her Triangle Adept 1-2-3. Btw Shouldnt u have also recieve something like 10 orbs for one of the last community goals?
Heres a tip for future summoning now that we're past the initial one. 1. You dont want to spend every 5 orbs that you get on a summon. Theres a couple of reasons why being, that summoning multiple heroes within a summoning session gives you a discount going 5-4-4-4-3. The other being that the game keeps track of a pity %, basically every 5 heroes that arent 5stars that you summon WITHIN a banner gives you an increased chance the next time you summon. So if you spend orbs as soon as u get them or as soon as you hit 20 (5+4+4+4+3) and the banner is ending ur risking losing that pity. Thats why its best to bank up orbs till you come across a banner with units you like and has just started, giving you plenty of time to pull everything you want with the highest pity % along the way.
2. Dont spend 20 orbs opening 5 summoning orbs. Yes you get the discount but truth be told you probably will end up with more useless heroes that you didnt want anyway. Look at it this way in the Ike banner, hes the only red one. Say you want him well the best way to pull would be to only pull red units because Ike can only be summoned via red. You would much prefer to open 4 heroes of the red colour that you want, than 5 heros whos colour could be anything at all.
3. Skip banners that dont have heroes that interest you, this might take a while to get use to who you want or who you dont, but the more you play the more you'll get a feel for what ur team is missing. The heros pictured in the banner have an increased % to appear when you open their coloured orb. So if you want someone and dont mind waiting you can just wait for their banner to appear and you would definitely have a pretty good chance at getting them.
4. Be wary of banner units that are of the same colour, recently there was a banner with both nowi and reinhart in it. Like me, we both have nowi and even tho reinhart is a great unit its not really worth pulling for him because the chance to get nowi is just as high as him and a 2nd nowi isnt something i really want. However you might feel different you might want two nowis for w/e reason, skill inheritance, nowi fanboy, need better ivs and w/e so pulling blue is perfectly fine for you. But you just wanna keep in mind and play around the factors so you get the heros you want or at least give urself the highest % to get them
5. Dont pull colouress unless u really want the colourless unit featured in the banner.

Ah, that's a lot better. Natures aren't so bad if still a little bit min-max-y. I'd be afraid if there's an IV system like Pokemon, that shit is whack with this system.

Nowi is a monster, so I think you should be fine. The rest of the pull seems kind of meh to me, but that doesn't really matter. Azama is an interesting healer since he has tons of defense. Also, healers can learn offensive moves. You'll probably figure out how that works on your own, but basically that "SP" stat your characters gain can be spent to learn skills. Azama gets Pain, which is one of the better attack moves since it always deals damage.
As for not pulling colorless, I personally think it's still worth doing until you at least have a passable archer (which Virion, in my opinion, is not). There's some story maps and challenge maps where it's nice to have (Setsuna on Ursula's map, for example). That said, you'll get a lot of healers and healers get a -10% penalty to attack. Plus their stats usually suck if they're not blondes with initially ambiguous genders and histories of childhood trauma. Anyway, it's up to you. It's yucky to stop summoning early (probably intentional... gotta make people spend those orbs ya know), but sometimes it's better in the long run.
