Yango I know you're trying to save me from my hubris, but I think the only way I'll ever learn to listen to you is if the witches make it impossible for me to progress.
I think this is better for everyone.

Lightning Sword falls off hard after ch. 1, it's pretty much just the item to get your Merc snowballing.

The way I see it is at least I'll have an entertaining story to tell for these forums!

Just got to the Mountain Village. Now the question is whether I want to meme with Atlas on this playthrough.
|
Just struggled through the south desert battle in Act 3 with all the witches, Genny with 14 res +2 from shield tanking the entire army of 8 witches for like 10 turns LOL
And then I find out I could've avoided that fight and just gone north desert instead. Should've paid more attention to the dialogue...
Honestly I'm really digging the magic/abilities system in this game. Scratches my RPG itch, and overall feels a lot like Tactics Ogre which I loved.

Turn him into a merc and spend the next 10 hrs promote cycling him. I say 10 hrs because this game plays much faster than Gaiden and you have some slogging to make up for.

Or Soldier if you're Frudgey.

I have to say that I'm really enjoying this game so far. We'll see how I feel after hundreds of hours of grinding though haha.

I turned Atlas into an archer as well, mostly because his spd and def were such shit that I couldn't keep him alive any other way
Also, keeping Kliff as a mage (not promoting) cuz his sage icon on the map looks silly with the poofy skirt.
|
Merc is really the only reasonable promote because it raises his bases to Merc bases.
He still sucks though.

You *might* have to grind whitewings a bit if final map of act 3 is too challenging, but otherwise you should be good to go

Which reminds me, I need to play Tactics Ogre: Knight of Lodis again, that was one of my favorite games of all time.
I just ordered this game off Amazon so I'll see in a couple days. I'll admit that on all 3 chapters of FE: Fates I lost interest towards the very end of the game and never fully completed any of them (though in retrospect the only one that was irredeemable was my Conquest playthrough since I just didn't have what I needed to beat the split up mission at the end).

Revelations was a slog that I don't think I'd want to do again.
Conquest was great though, but it was very challenging for me. Can't comment on Birthright. Doesn't have Effie as a playable unit as far as I'm aware, so I'm dubious of it's quality.

For the split mission (I assume you mean Ryoma not Iago) just have corrin solo ryoma ggez. For iago go to the right and good luck

what is the point of silque and clair?
silque needs to be within one unit to heal and dies in 1 hit to literally any unit and clair is just straight up useless in every way lol, zero damage and zero defense. Do either of them offer anything or its just some joke characters you get

Oh, actual fire emblem talk. I think most of the older games, you generally wanted to promote earlier because growth rates were crap and base stats were the most important.
