I was actually riding a bike slowly instead of walking, I've gotten good at catching stuff with 1 hand and riding with the other. Half the time it's raining, so I switch to an umbrella and phone in my pocket. I need to learn how to ride with no hands so I can use the umbrella+phone at same time.

True. My pattern sometimes gets hard to draw in rain because drops trigger the screen. Also makes the fingerprint reader unusable.

"End game" is here I guess. All level 10 gyms in my area (in a 20km range) are blue with the lowest CP being 3.2k dragonites. So all 10 pokemons you see are dragonites. Taking it down doesnt matter since the spoofers will take it back within 15mins.

Yellow/red can only get 10coins per day if I can give a fuck to take down 10 dragonites.

where do you live? I've never seen a 3.2k dragonite, I've been collecting 80-100 coins a day for the last few weeks. Usually my gyms are around 2300+ cp at the lowest, and about 8 levels higher they're at 2600 cp

They'd have to deal with maxed out Snorlax and Lapras anyway.

I've got at least three 80+ Gastly and over 750 Gastly candy. I'm just gonna dump the rest onto Gastly that I save up and treat em like Rattata's next evolve cycle.

In my city, a lot of gyms stand tall at ~9-10 levels, and at minimum six of those slots are dragonites of at least 2k CP. Hands do change every now and again, but it's usually due to some concerted effort, since the gyms around an immediate area tend to change all at once.


As for the event, I'm fairly content with it, since it's definitely helping out my ghost, psychic and ground achievements. Zubats and Golbats aren't actually as common as the other four, at least for me. Anyone else have some lax spawning of one of the event Pokemon?

Singapore. We have a few areas that are on par or even better than NYC central park so pokemons are common. The bare minimum to be in gyms is generally 2.9k cp now but 3.2kcp is now the "safe spot" When the scanners used to be up, seeing hundreds of people running after a rare pokemon is very very common.

I believe that most of them are spoofers since they are the same level with the same exact CP pokemons. For example in a gym, the bottom 4 are lvl 31 with identical CP of say 3223 CP dragonites, then the next 3 are level 33 with 3318CP dragonites and etc etc

Hardly seen an increase in Zubat/Golbat if any.

The gyms in my area have started all sticking around level 10 but fortunately the average cp is still 1800.

lol singapore has been like pokemon go's hard mode for the longest time now. Lower level players have no chance of sniping gyms except at super highly contested areas ever since the update for training with 6 pokemon was in place. Level 10 gyms with 10 dragonites are the norm now. niantic should incentivize defeating gyms with 300 xp per kill instead of 100, or just nerf the shit out of dragonite with their CP growth.

dragonite is a scapegoat. the problem is level 10 gyms, not dragonites. there is no reason for me to sit down for 1+ hours to take down a level 10 gym that i know i wont be able to hold. its not worth the time or effort. if they made it worthwhile, people would take down level 10 dragonite gyms. dragonites arent very good. i would rather face a comparable level dragonite than snorlax.

Every gym in my area is at 10 with 2300cp pokemon at teh bottom. I have not earned a coin since the update because I cannt get in a gym.

And my highest is a 2200ish Vaporeon. My 3 Snorlax catches don't even add up to 1000cp and I have seen exactly one Dratini since the game launched within travel distance to catch. If I could find a gym loaded with grass weak pokemon I could take it out since I have 2 95%+ Vileplume and 2 90%+Victreebel all with dual grass moves. But it's all Dnite and Lapras and Snorlax so that's an uphill unwinnable battle.

Nitpicking, but:
At lvl 31, the highest CP a Dragonite can be is 3125, at lvl 33 it's 3225.

I have a hard time believing the 10th spot in a gym is 3200 CP, over here the threshold is still a low 2k. I also only have 1 Dragonite so I guess in Singapore I could only stay in 1 gym at a time lol..

Yes you are right. I was just giving an example of the CP creep. I should have just said X CP and Y CP But having 4 dragonites with the same CP is just astonishing for me
This event helps a little by making me farm more dratini candies. At least i got a 89 IV dragonite so it "should" be safe when I maxed it out fully but I'm only level 27 currently with a 2.5kish dragonite...
