The wait is over. 16 teams all in the Laxness Arena, fighting for their piece of the $250,000 prize pool and the rights to claim themselves the top team in the world are all more than ready to display their feats, prowess, and determination. Format
There are three stages here at Cologne, two group stages and the playoff stages. The first group stage will follow the GSL format, with four teams battling it out in best of ones to determine who will advance first in the group. Note that only three matches will be played, the first two matches, and then the winner's match. Once the top four teams have made it out, they will be seeded into the playoffs stage, and we begin the second group stage.
The second group stage is now with all the teams being re-shuffled and re-seeded based on their performance in the first group stage. This is still the GSL style format, where only this time the top team with a 2-0 will advance to the playoffs.
The playoffs stage is a best of three, single elimination bracket to determine who wins the championships.
