FF7 is far more accessible and standard than the later FF games. I don't think anyone needs to worry about it being watered down. Square has not really gone down the path of simplifying or even streamlining their RPGs. It's so weird when you look at the dress and think, well, it's obviously white, and then someone sincerely and seriously says that it's blue. I feel puzzled.
I honestly feel as if someone had said that Transformers is a complex, deep movie and Metropolis is poorly written fanfiction. To make it clearer, I always thought it was an accepted fact that ever since FF6, Square had been dumbing down its games and opening the Final Fantasy saga to a broader, "casual" audience.

I thought about it. This game needs to be a real shocker in every sense if it is to appease the expectations of everyone.^^ Don't hold back now, show authority, make everything bleed.

If by "accepted fact" you mean people who hold the same point of view as you, sure. FF6 is not a wildly complicated game and neither is FF7. If you compare how accessible the game is to something like FF13, there is no contest.

I am insanely stoked about this, it will be incredible. I am so excited that the new generation of gamers, who may balk at playing games with the graphics of the original FFVII, will be able to experience the incredible richness of the setting and the story. FFVII is, for me, head and shoulders above almost every other game in video gaming history and absolutely must be played. I feel the same way about Deus Ex (the original) and Ocarina of Time.

This is getting weirder every minute. FF13 got bashed for being Final Fantasy's Phantom Menace. Quoting Christian Nutt from Gamasutra:
So, too, is Final Fantasy XIII filled with Final Fantasy Stuff -- most notably and stupidly, crystals -- and it’s clear that all of that junk is there because the developers assume that it has to be there, not because it enriches the world or the game’s play experience. “The new films just borrow and recycle from the original ideas, as if there’s no way to create anything new,” says Plinkett. And that’s what hamstrings Final Fantasy XIII, too.
Hell, the game’s director, Motomu Toriayama, asked character designer Tetsuya Nomura for “someone like a female version of Cloud from FFVII." Even Matsuda, president of Square Enix, recognized that the company "lost its focus" in an interview:
If you focus too much on the global aspect, you might lose sight of who you’re actually making the game for,” explains Matsuda. “For example, if you look back at 2013, we’ve had some home console games made for a global audience that struggled. FF6 and to a lesser FF7 were made for a more mature audience that targeted late teens and young adults who played RPGs - that's a niche. FF13 and following episodes were made for teenagers and casual gamers, which didn't even work that well for Square Enix.

Wish I could say the same lol.

Realistically, FF12-13 coincide with SE losing it's stranglehold on the JRPG market and Atlus' growing dominance with Persona 3 and 4.
So it kind of makes sense that SE got desperate to look for new markets.

I'm extremely excited for this as I consider it the greatest game of all time. I really hope they don't screw it up and also that we won't have to wait a long time for a pc release.
|
I guess Square realised they don't know how to make JRPG's anymore so they may as well just try to remake the good old ones.
To people rushing to buy PS4 this I think there's a decent chance other platforms might see it too eventually.

Given how poorly the PC port was done I'll remain skeptical for this.
Hopefully the battle system also gets a little look into so its not just spamming powersoul / Cait sith slots as well.

I don't know what to expect. I'd be perfectly happy with more or less a 3D update, keeping everything else the same. Somehow I don't see this happening though.
If they don't at least keep the music though I will be one sad panda

This might be the 1st game I buy in a long time if it gets a PC release. FF7 will always hold a special place in my gaming history.

FF7 is my favorite game, I still have the original CD and I don't even have a playstation anymore.
I'm really excited about this, so I hope it will be great.

When i saw this on reddit i laughed, certain it was the ps3 tech demo and someone was trolling. I checked the comments and everyone was screaming hype about it.
I clicked the video, realized IT WAS FUCKING REAL and nearly fainted.

Yeah. I believe FFXIII was a financial success, but SE has admitted that they tried too hard to cater to the western audience, and lost their vision in the process.
They have since said they will aim to focus on what they know, and will not try to cater to westerners anymore.
As for people who say SE has forgotten how to make good JRPGs, Bravely Default is excellent. So, there is that.

i think it will be a cinematic scene-by-scene retelling
so they will take each original scene and construct a couple of (more cinematic, modern) scenes that do the same thing
the big difference will come from how they change the combat, world map, stuff like dat (which aren't very impactful, unless they replace omnislash with the ac version (gtfo))
i guess the REAL difference will be if they decide to "pad" out the gameplay areas (like in ff13 where you have 5 hours of walking to the next scene). this is the only thing i wud be worried about. i literally quit ff13 because of that even tho i liked everything else
if you liked advent children then im sure you will love this
(i love advent children (remastered version o/c))
you can see they are using similar models as ac
![[image loading]](http://i.imgur.com/vuSjXrb.jpg)
also people will hate on this game because of the voice acting nomatter what (but it should ship with optional japo voices like ff13 rerelease does now iirc)
my god
what happens when you watch this trailer and hear about reunion and see cloud and see the logo and you think "really another ffac reunion game?" then + Show Spoiler +
