Isn't Game one Germany scandinavia england and the balkans and game two is greater Western Europe as the elves the Skaven as the moors and CK2 style sunset invasion aztecs?

I'm really happy for skaven fun times but I was hopeing that they'd save Skaven for game three and the Egyptian super necros.

Campaigns will be as followed: the old world campaign we started with, and the vortex campaign as its new world equal. "Below" that you will have the small story campaigns as with the beastmen. Overlapping all you will have the big campaign with the whole world included. Rules will be adjusted for each campaign (for example no chaos invasion probably for the big campain).

Bretonnia is some weird fucked up medieval France mashed up with arthurian legends, Estalia and Tilea are Italy and Spain, Sylvannia is Romania and Kislev is kievan russia.

So it covers more or less our own old World.

England would be high elves even if their real equivalent would in fact be Atlantis.

So in part 2 they will just add warhammer north and south america or also include warhammer Asia and north Africa? I thought part 3 will be about chaos so Chaos wastes made more sense?

Part 2 is North America (Dark Elves), South America (Lizardman), Africa (Khemri and assorted other minor nations) and Atlantis (High Elves)

Asia isn't really fleshed out in Warhammer lore, There is Chaos Dwarfs and Ogres in central Asia but thats about it, we know Cathey is to the east but there is no real background on them.

Hmm, part 2 adds Khemri ?

I thought it was dark elves, skaven, lizardmen and high elves.

On release your right.

That is the campaign map for TW:W 2.

Note the Land of the dead, great desert and shifting sands in the south-east continent (africa)
Those are Khemri lands, so I would say it is highly likely they will be added as DLC.

Yeah it seems likely. It's sorta weird because we already have 8 factions, 4 more added, 12. If they add tomb kings, they will only have 3 factions for the part 3 (ogres, chaos dwarves, chaos daemons). I guess then part 3 will be more about fleshing out the game rather than expanding the world, which i guess will be fine by me.

Oh well, they can also milk with DLCs for the unplayable factions anyways, like Estalia with the huge pikes :D

Wasn't there a Tilean general Curious Gaesar who tried to invade Albion?

I wonder if turn wait times are going to become a problem again in the big campaign. And especially with the third game and the uber campaign.

Before RTW, the AI were programmed to try to make preset armies. In the first STW, armies were even made in preference to the Daimyo's personality. For some reason this was scrapped during RTW and thereafter, cities just made whatever was the most expensive resulting in crapsack stacks. Also the AI never had any ability to actually fight as an army. it's always all too easy to pick apart the AI in battles.

Weird, the game would be much better without those retarded ass stacks. I've ran into composition so stupid they were uber underdogs against 3 times cheaper armies.

I've noticed that the ai also loves to sepukku its whole cavalry on heavily defended flanks before the main engagement starts. Stuff like 3 boar boys charging two demigryphs and a halleberd and other kamikaze attacks like that.

I guess it's still really bloody difficult to make a strategy game ai that doesn't play like an absolute retard.

Are you telling me 8 Grudgethrowers isn't a viable army?
I'm not stupid, a marauder just shot my brain.

So I kinda want to de-noobify myself a bit in this game because although I've played a few campaigns I'm a lazy casual who just wanted to roflstomp the entire map on very easy so I still suck. As such questions:

-whats the difficulty setting difference? I heard that on very hard mode AI's units will generally be stronger than yours. Not a big fan of handicaps like that.
-Am I right in assuming the right approach to a campaign is first confederate and conquer until you have like 4 provinces while focusing on growth and income buildings, all on one army, and save teching up until your region is stable?
-When do you start adding armies and how many should you have?

That really depends what race you play.

Also, in harder difficulty, you won't be able to confederate easily early on.

If you play, say, the Empire, you need very technologically advanced armies very quickly (because their base units suck really badly) and I recommend turtling a bit early on with 1-2 provinces.

If you play greenskins, you can make obscenely cheap stacks that can actually pillage every round nearly what their cost, and that won't actually really cost you anything. As long as you have a place to ravage, you can essentially have free stacks relatively early.

That being said, the fun of the game comes from the immense flexibility it offers. Read a thread somewhere by a guy playing the crooked moon who resettled immediately to the karaks bordering the chaos wastes. So really, everything is possible.

Yeah, optimal strategy depends upon whom you are playing. However, and as a general rule, I think that the game favors smaller numbers of elite armies than large numbers of shit armies due to how maintenance works. This places a lot of pressure on teching and going hard vertical. But if you are playing someone like the Greenskins that needs to stay aggressive, then you will have to tailor your strategy a bit.

No, you need to own the first game and the DLC from the first game to use those factions on the grand campaign map.

TW:WH 2 is a completely stand alone game containing Dark Elves, High Elves, Skaven and Lizardmen (and future dlc factions).
Its only if you also own TW:WH 1 that you can combine everything into a joined grand campaign.
It ignores such insignificant forces as time, entropy, and death
