Hearthstone was obviously a game focused on multiplayer but it didn't even have a spectator mode. From all multiplayer games, and there is a lot of them, very few are developed with competition in mind. listening carefully to the entire grey goo section in the youtube video you'll see they aer specifically referring to competitive multiplayer aka hard core very competitive 1v1 and 2v2 matches... which is what incontrol likes. he is not talking about 4 player versus AI on a money map.... or anything else.. he is discussing the aspect of RTS he is most passionate about which is competitive multiplayer. replays have been an essential part of RTS games' competitive multiplayer aspect since 2000. which is why Grey Box is falling all over themselves to explain that they'll support 3RD PARTY recording methods. because they know having no replays is bad.

Too bad, because Blizzard always needed competitors to make great games. No single competitor results in shitty games like Heart of the Swarm.

Greg Black , Dustin Browder, Tim Morten, and i could keep going. it seems like half the C&C team is on SC2 David Kim is from Relic and CoH. i hope this game turns out great and introduces some new ideas into the RTS genre. but, i doubt it'll happen.

this is what happens when your release date is precipitated by the project running out of cash. grey box/petroglyph looks like a fly-by-the-seat-of-their-pants chicken outfit.

Generals had no micro??? The game where army sizes were pretty small, meaning losing one or two units to sloppy control could spell defeat???

I think this game looks interesting but I know the feeling of expecting something cool and being disappointed by things being unfinished, low quality, glitchy, etc which is what it looks like will happen here for me.

It had as much as this game has from what I seen. In Both games units move slow and kill each other fast so no real micro like in SC2 is possible. Some faster units let you micro but there were only a few of those. You would micro air and commando units and multitasks. Macro just like in this game was pretty simple.

I stopped playing the game because people would just disconnect against me after seeing the stats =/ I agree. Slower speed does not mean there is less micro. BW for example is slower than SC2, still it has more micro involved in most situations.
