I think he meant competition in the sense that there wasn't another popular FPS to compete for its player base. Now, especially on consoles, you'll have all the CoD, and CS:GO, and TF2, etc. even if they're different games, they're FPS at the core so there'll be some overlap.
Re: wallhack ultimate. It doesn't remove all skill per se, I'd say it switches the skillset applied instead (with maybe a reduction in skill ceiling too). Ult sounds are global (they're also the same whatever the user's team, welp), so if an enemy Widowmaker activates her ult you know they can see you. So it's on you to play around it. I'm more annoyed by Bastion's and Soldier 76's ults. I know Soldier 76's, McCree's and D. Va's are all partly about zoning (since all 3 are countered by diving behind cover for the duration) so they're not very interesting. It's more about satisfying the user than the enemy, but they're too similar for my tastes. However, on the basic principle (use it when you want to clear a path/stall by making the enemy take cover) having one of this type creates some dynamics in the gameplay.

It should be noted that 76 and McCree's ults are also both countered by shields of any kind.

Also the auto aim ults make a global(?) bark that alerts the enemy team when they are used. If you know where the shooter is coming from, you can avoid it. You need some pretty reasonable set up for it, since they are not instant.

and if its just about improving, you see the stats of your current game compared to your average. It being higher then your average shows pretty well that you imrpoved. O never mind i just realized from whom the original post came >.< .
It is good to know though that they probably will implenent a kill feed. Was also nice to see the the one EU tournament casted by esl casters. Even though one team stomped everyone.

If there is anything I have learned from competitive games, its that ranked mode is something that provides feedback that people assume is improvement because a number increases. But the two are only tangentially related.
A kill feed would be nice, however.

It is so easy to please you guys, it's really ridiculous

Have you considered that ranked mode maybe not ready at launch isn't about that at all? And sorry that we can only really talk about what actually exists right now, promises don't count for anything. Maybe it will get better in 6 months, maybe not. If any criticism is answered with "hey we are in beta they will SURELY change that!" then maybe your expectations are simply too low. This is blizzard we are talking about, not some indie game studio with no ressources.

Don’t buy the game until they have all the featured you want. Don’t bitch at us because we don’t share your opinion on the subject.

Perfect example why we can't have nice things. Hey one game mode is totally enough! Ranked mode? Who needs that crap? A real scoreboard after the game? That would only increase toxicity! 5 minute games are totally fine!! People who are content no matter what are the worst thing ever. Call it bitching if you want, i am sorry for having an actual opinion on things instead of being a sheep.

And this is still wrong. Elo is the best statistic we have about improvement, even if you don't like it

No one is saying it's fine. Because no one believes that the game is going to ship like this. Time and fucking time again you seem to have no idea what the word *BETA* means. It means it's not the finished game. It's like looking at a nice cut of raw meat and then screaming that you wouldn't eat it. Of course you wouldn't, it hasn't been prepared or cooked yet. But we can comment that the meat is good and will eventually be made into a nice steak.
We would literally all be on your side if Blizzard said that what is being played right now is the game that they're going to ship for $40-$60. But that's not what's going to happen. That's not what a beta is. So fucking stop.

Complains about features in a video game not being exactly what he wants. Called all who disagree with his opinion sheep who are easily please. Video game fandom in a nutshell.
|
This guy still here complaining with his stupid opinions during a closed beta test?
Reminds me of when blizzard invited all of those whiners from reddit thread. Give it a rest viper nobody here wants to hear your crap, make constructive posts or stop all together.
|
The same old "hey everything will change for the better 100% so any criticism right now is pointless" post. Very creative indeed. Blizzard already said they aren't sure if they can ship the game with ranked mode. Like that's literally one of the most basic things competetive games have these days. But everything will be fine! Criticism in the beta is bad because it isn't the finished game!!!!!11 What kind of stupid logic is that. If anything people should be extremely criticial right now so blizzard actually gives a damn.
|
There's a difference between criticism and whining.
|
The writer Patrick Rothfuss said the most important thing a creator can do is learn to filter our non constructive criticism, because they are going to receive a lot of it. Blizzard is the same. The volume and frequency of your complains/criticism is not a metric for if it is valid or constructive.
In short: Bitching about the same shit over and over doesn’t mean people are going to give a shit.

4 weeks into a 8 month beta? Yeah, that's pointless. When it gets to April and they still don't have anything, start complaining.
Criticize things that exist but are implemented poorly. They know it's not finished, we know it's not finished, everyone knows it's not finished. Your bitching will not make it any less so.
|
And Blizzard also said that ranked mode might not be ready for launch. They didn't say they wouldn't' test it during the beta.
|
Every single time that I've seen a game missing CORE gameplay elements during a beta, the game shipped without those elements. So if you are happy with the state of the game right now, then you'll enjoy it at launch. If you aren't, then don't waste your time.
Also, the game is played on 20 tickrate, has no scoreboard, and is made by the same company whose latest offerings are Hearthstone and Heroes of the Storm. While there may be a competitive scene, it will be designed from the ground up to be a casual game, so don't expect a lot of support from Blizzard in that regard.
