The F2P sector has gotten much better and very few games still have power-giving items that are real money only. Everyone (besides Dota) is going for a pay-to-grind-less system and LoL's is one of the most time consuming, if not the most, for players who don't pay. Imo it doesn't really matter. You can play and pretty much do everything in LoL for free except for minor shit like skins or as you say to ease the grind. They should get paid for their work and you can throw down less money on LoL then what games today retail for and still get most of what the average person would want. Hell after playing LoL for so long I even felt that I needed to spend at least something on the game, just to show my appreciation. I probably played LoL as long as I did WoW and if you stack up the amount of cash I put into each game its not even close~

I know there have been some complaints about the /ease/ of the game, which I am unsure about. Blizzard games are usually new player friendly (unlike, say, Dota 2) but also had the complexity that is almost impossible to master. Hearthstone would be the perfect example of that style, and Team Fortress was always fun no matter your skill level. In between the nature of skill shots, the art of positioning, and the use of cooldowns (and ultimates), it seems like there is a lot of very small details that can be used to outplay one's opponents. What I am saying is, Blizzard give me a beta key, because all I can do right now is theory craft with no experience!

As a TF2 fan, I got burnt out after playing it regularly for a few months, because while the classes are fun and versatile, the big problems with the game for me were the 16-32 player lobbies (which made classes like the scout more difficult), and that the experience of playing a class became stagnant after a time (I left before they started make lot of different guns, so that might be different.) Yeah maybe as someone that doesn't like the TF genre is probably the reason why I don't really have the desire to go back to it but I do like Overwatch more than I ever liked TF2. I'm very curious in what old school TFC thinks of Overwatch, I think this game would be their wet dream.

you can play and pretty much do everything in LoL you can play like 10 champions out of more then a 100 so thats just not true. Either way these discussions about whether they are unlocked or not or comparisons to other models are kinda useless aren't they? I thought there was confirmation that all heroes are going to be unlocked(which is fucking gr8 for consumers). That means that the model is probably just going to be cosmetics, alternate voices/announcers like Dota(which is awesome). Or is there still vagueness about what kind of payment model it is going to be?

All you can do is share the Bnet account, note that this is against the ToS tho so do at your own risk.

Someone linked this yesterday, for some reason its 480p and it's too flashy for me to tell wtf is going on as I haven't even played the game but might be what you're looking for. + Show Spoiler +

Good thing at the end the game will say who did most damage to enemy team and that value is worthy more than last hits or kill streaks.

You don't need to kill enemy to get a kill counted, you just need to do some damage to it as part of team effort. When a red skull shows up on screen together with elimination message you did the last hit, but the game does not care about that and counts those together with any other where you didn't do last hit. Good thing at the end the game will say who did most damage to enemy team and that value is worthy more than last hits or kill streaks. not quite as much when there's an important healing role in the game. it's really similar to the stats presented in heroes of the storm. they don't really reflect that you dealt useful damage, but they do tell a short story about the circumstances if you understand the picks. people just spam or constantly deal damage on the forefront to buffer this stat and later claim that they did their part. it's somewhat disgusting since it's common practice for ranked and solo queuing or even in normals with couple friends, and it's hard to tell how well someone actually played without watching them in the first place. if it were any other game than overwatch being a role-based shooter with the objectives it currently has, i'd weigh the kills + deaths a lot more. you just simply don't need to deal as much damage if you do it effectively or if the other team simply has less effective health overall.

Someone said earlier that it's they've gone on record saying all characters will be unlocked on launch but without seeing the specific language I would be cautious about that meaning that all characters will be unlocked forever. They can make so much money by locking new characters behind something like a temporary paywall that it makes very little business sense not to do at least that.

Yeah paid early access to new characters sounds realistic. I would not mind that.
