That's the thing though, you don't have to revolve your cooldowns around it. Should you? Probably because yes, it does increase your dps. However its been proven already that every boss can be beat without it, regardless of when its used. Consider it a random proc for you that gives you an extra 25% damage for 15 seconds every 2 minutes and move on.

If your guild wants to progress and put more people in charge of when to use it, have that discussion with your guild on why they should use it at 0 on the timer, or hold onto the ring until this time, etc. If you are worried about pubs using it whenever, don't pub then. I don't pub on my rogue because I find it very annoying to get into groups that can't do mechanics and wipe, not because they use the ring incorrectly.

It's not 25% - the base level is 56.25% increase and by now it's up to a ~67% increase for 15 seconds every 2 minutes, you can be damn sure that people should hold 2 minute cooldowns for it

i don't even try to have faith in randoms using it correctly but people using it at bad times in guilds is annoying - and it really shouldn't be. There's no reason to chain them all together involuntarily and make them required for competent DPS - it's just bad game design.

Again Cyro, The consensus seems simple. Holding it for 2-3 globals is good to allow players to setup and have limited impact on those who don't want to hold.
Anything that happened beyond that is something you should take up with your own guild and not something for this thread.

But if you're complaining about your guild failing to use it properly (in your eyes), bring it up within your guild. I was talking about hating the design, was only going to make one post on the subject but a lot of the stuff i said was poked at since the original post so i just replied every time with more reasoning.

It's not a problem with any specific guild or PUG. The item itself creates those problems by design - i was giving some examples for easier discussion, though admittedly of past frustrations with it.

Since my original post (where i did write "angry rant over") i didn't make another; i only replied, so i do not consider that accurate. If you didn't want to persue conversation, you didn't have to reply or ask questions

I think everyone agrees the rings would have been better if they weren't raid wide CDs but instead personal but thats an issue with raid wide CDs in general having issues which why it was much better in the era of 5-7 heroisms per raid because then you could control when you used your heroisms based on the party which was often very different timings depending on the role in each party.

But alas people bitched because "wah I have to bring 6 shamans per raid waaah" even though they literally gave Heroism to mages / hunters in the next expansion anyway which would have solved the issue.

Raidwide would be much less of a problem if they were not so powerful. I don't understand blizzards obsession with increasing damage by a factor of 4+ every expansion, especially if they only add one tier patch

tbh it sounds like your guild is retarded more than anything else

The ring isn't my favorite design but if your guild is randomly popping it for no reason I can only assume they do the same with their own CDs (and Bloodlust)

I'm of the firm belief there are people that will do that stuff everywhere, guild or no guild with few exceptions which is a huge part of why i'm against tieing a large fraction of everybodies damage to a raidwide ability activatable by anyone

Probably, but if someone was randomly popping Lust for no reason (or not using it when called for or something) I would expect the raid leader to tell them to knock that shit out and then remove them if it continued. Dunno why the ring (or any other raid CD) would be any different

People have been lusting for years, ring is brand new. It's also very much a simpler cooldown as you get it only once on almost every fight and it affects every role instead of just one at a time

Heck I'm currently raiding in a normal mode guild and we have a dedicated dps who uses his ring and the rest don't touch it.

I think Cyro has just been in a lot of bad guilds.

Seven in 14 months due to five disbands and a trial of one that i didn't like, now this was threatening disband and changed leadership ~3 times. I've actually yet to see a guild that lasted over 3 months where people actually raided and enjoyed raiding in my whole life - It really makes playing an MMO taxing. I barely said anything in raid today and they still had people ragequitting and ended up cancelling the raid an hour and 15 minutes early due to not having enough healers left


bad guilds are just a symptom of that problem though, the root cause is the annoying part

Join WS guild - disband semi-merge with another due to bleeding players like crazy
next disband because of WOD and bleeding way too many players again, even after repeated merges (i was not going to stop playing @WOD launch)

Join WOD guild, that disbanded a few months later. Startup guild and it didn't work out

Some of the guys made a new guild and recruited a bunch of people, it looked great and they made better progress, had better atmosphere than previous. Joined that one, disbanded a few months later because they didn't like WOD as a whole after clearing t17.

At this point we were barely into BRF. I took a break, rerolled server, faction, class and joined another guild which had been around for years, stayed together through SOO etc. That went a bit over 3 months before they disbanded too shortly after 6.2 due to huge player turnover, difficulty recruiting, management not being so happy with the state of the game etc

Jeez thats some bad luck. I've been in 5 guilds (thats for both NA and EU accounts) for all of my tenure in WoW so I feel for ya on the guild issues =/.

Just don't burn yourself out over a game, it is intended for you to have fun ^^.

You wanna talk about how the dps ring is stupid? Try the healer one. One, absorbs do nothing for it. Two, any absorbs used during it will deduct from healers not having absorbs. The whole thing is stupid beyond belief. I'd take the dps interaction any day over that. The average shield we got this raid out of the healer ring was 1/8th of my single PW:S.


Also, holy fuck the guilds you join man. At least I get to have fun with people I've known now nearly 10 years and our progress has never actually been better than this, compared to hc blackhand, hc archi was a cakewalk, some 50 pulls to kill it. Might even get to do mythic bosses this tier, especially with summer ending and people returning to the game again.
