How‘s that 2v2 matchmaking feature coming along, anyway? Soon™

That has also been a shitshow and an embarassment. Don't. Preorder. Games. Don't buy games until they're out long enough for user reviews to kick in. Especially Blizzard.

I was pumped to play an old favourite again, with a bunch of WC3 virgins and we’re all just, what? Additionally it’s rather definitive proof that old Blizzard with its ‘when it’s done it’s done’ mentality is dead and perhaps buried. I’m not even being hyperbolic here, it’s like the kind of launch you get with an overambitious Kickstarter that runs out of money and has to launch to get the cash injection to finish the thing.

Blizzard used to be a game maker where I'd pre-order without a hint of hesitation, and was never really disappointed in doing so. That's not usually something I do. But lately, they seem to just not be committed to making their games as great as their legacy implies. This sours my hopes for anything coming down the pike from Blizzard, rather badly. It's a pretty grim trend.

I'm not a sales analyst but I'm guessing pre-orders have to be a successful mechanism for today's businesses (primarily corporations) to maximize profits, just like paid DLC, in-app purchases, etc.

This whole shit show would be way less bad if they didn't shoot WC3 Bnet in the head. Why in the world is original WC3 shut down? people would be so much more accommodating if they didn't needlessly delete the old WC3.

This is hands down the lowest quality product Blizzard has ever asked money for. This whole shit show would be way less bad if they didn't shoot WC3 Bnet in the head. Why in the world is original WC3 shut down? people would be so much more accommodating if they didn't needlessly delete the old WC3. Yeah I mean what and why? I still have my old Warcraft 3 boxes and CDs and keys. Also bear in mind that ESL has committed to adding Warcraft 3 to its circuit too. Yeah sure I mean the top players can practice within groups now, but I mean what there’s not a working ladder? How does any new top talent prove their chops now? The old ladder doesn’t work anymore and there is no new ladder to replace it. It’s a complete and utter clusterfuck. It brings me no pleasure whatsoever to not purchase this product, I was super excited for a possible WC3 resurgence, on a purely competitive sense. I was looking forward to actually pushing myself to be good, after playing SC2 a lot, I had a ton of fun in my youth, but was terrible mechanically, my crowning glory being briefly ranked in the top 1000 in 2v2. From my personal perspective we don’t even have a working ladder, what’s the point? I and others of a certain age had convinced others to try WC3 as it’s fantastic, mostly SC2 players of a competitive bent. They have no ladder to chart their progress on either. We’d even intended to try and do a WC3 tournament running alongside our near decade long de facto Irish championship for SC2, such was the enthusiasm from two camps. The first being the likes of myself who love Warcraft 3, the second being younger people whose RTS experience = SC2 and who are burnt out and were really, really enthusiastic about learning a new game’s intricacies. This launch is beyond catastrophic and why they didn’t delay it until more features were working is beyond me.

4 of us are WC3 veterans and 3 of us got refunds on it as it lacked almost everything we were used to. 6 were Masters tier SC2 players looking for a new RTS game to learn and a new competitive environment and 4 of them got refunds when such simple things as ‘a ladder’ weren’t there. This isn’t even a case of a publisher being greedy, it’s a case of a publisher sabotaging a lot of potential, goodwill in the community and an earnest appetite for a new RTS title. Of my small sample size literally all of us would have enthusiastically played the game for a period, if it was even vaguely feature complete. It’s lost sales, lost goodwill and lost enthusiasm for the prospect of another RTS in the modern day that isn’t SC2 It’s fucking shameful and whoever is ultimately in charge of this project should be fired.

Same scenario here. Would have still bought it if it was $100, if it was even just directly porting sc2 ladder. I've never not bought a blizzard product. This will be the first and I'm incredibly saddened by it. Me choosing to not buy a blizzard product makes this whole blizzard decline finally feel "real". Wc3 was my favorite game of all time and I'm not buying a remaster? What the fuck?

I’ve played Blizzard games since Diablo 1, my first foray into online gaming was in said game in 1996. Even if some games ultimately weren’t to my taste, like WoW (not a fan of grinding), everything they put out was fucking good for what is was, was hardware optimised and was a complete experience. This, just no. Fuck off. Literally 24 years of games, even if I didn’t like them had that Blizzard polish on them, were feature complete and were well optimised for hardware. Playing LAN BW with my brother, spending months of my life playing WC3 with friends and my clan. Never a fan of Diablo to a repeat sense but had a good time with both 1 and 2 from play through sense. Loved SC2 and played an obscene amount of it. Never really warmed to WoW but accepted it was a bloody good game in its genre. Now, no. They can’t keep going in their current direction but I’m not buying any more of their products after this debacle. A 30 dollar without a ladder, or without tournaments, the fuck?

Not necessarily the game I put the most time into, Warcraft 3 is probably my favourite game of all time with all things considered. Part of that was being young, the time I was in but mostly it’s just an amazing game. I’m not buying a remaster of my all-time favourite game and that’s an incredible indictment on how fucking atrocious this launch is.

I probably will at some point because I just want to replay the campaign and don't care about the multi. But really? Game looked better in the original? That's either a troll or some serious rose-tinted glasses! Have you seen Blademaster's whirlwind? It looks pathetic in this version.

They wanted to integrate WC3 in their battle.net platform, and for people to use that they probably needed to do this. It of course sucks a lot that they didn't have a proper replacement for the ingame stuff and the game lacks several key features now. In it's current state, WC3 was much better off before Reforged, which is why I'm amused it got 1.0 at metacritic now.
