We had recruited quite a few folks in our wee SC2 scene to give WC3 a shot, who’d missed it first time around. Some who had SC2 fatigue and wanted to give a new game a shot, mostly competitively minded. It doesn’t have a ladder at launch? Then for guys like me who poured days of my life into WC3 I was pumped to return with a bunch of friends to play with again and it’s lacking tons of the stuff it used to have? I never placed well in any of the automated tournaments haha, but it was always fun to join up with your clan and see who could progress furthest, plus the hype of team kills. Finally, I’m not 100% sure if it’s the case but it also sounds now it’s difficult to play the original game too? This is more pertinent for me as given the performance issues people have reported with FAR better rigs than me I’m not sure if I can even smoothly run Reforged at all. I cancelled my pre-order ages ago for the performance related reasons, and they still seem to be an issue. This was even prior to knowing how sparse the features were. Starcraft Remastered was far from perfect too, and still isn’t but it really was an old game at the same time and modernising it for current systems was pretty cool. It just feels like such a false economy to push Reforged out now, and so against how Blizzard used to operate. Probably a big part of why I played so many Blizzard games in my youth is they were well optimised for my relatively underpowered Macs and I could play anything they put out smoothly. You only get one launch, you know it’s bad when myself and my childhood friend who both have Warcraft 3 as our all-time favourite game both cancelled our Reforged orders. | ||

Upon experimenting for 1h30 the new client/Bnet: • All profiles, stats, ladder, clans, slash commands (/stats, /users, etc.) are gone for now. • Tons of joinbugs (4 out of 6 attempts on 4v4, some in 2v2 as well), and it seems you have to restart WC3 each time you get a joinbug since it keeps searching ad infinitum. • Antisocial BNet UI like in SC2. It sucks. • Seems like there is no MMR, I got matched against complete newbies (judging from their skill ingame since there are no stats...). Noobs should not have to meet veterans, it's bad and a waste of time for both. • In the score screens, hero icons are not shown properly. • Not sure you can watch replays online with friends. You can't even chat when pressing Enter in a replay so... I mean c'mon, it's been 15+ years already that this essential feature is lacking, it would be about time to implement it. • Some of the units/buildings randomly switch color sometimes... On the positive side, I did not get any performance issues so far. They simply released a Beta version of the game, massively downgrading the quality of the game for old players and forcing down their throat an inferior product without any way to avoid it. And new players, or people who might have wanted to return, will legitimately flee in a matter of days upon seeing that the game is full of bugs, and essentially nothing important works properly. And that's on top of all these downgrades and problems I read and see. Online/Social UI downgrades is a huge bad for me for example, very important. Well the other things too. I think war3 is really interesting and attractive for 1v1, team games and custom games, would probably call it top 3 best rts (BW/AoE2/War3), but I don't want to be coping with blizzard madness again right now. I was considering it now it's out, some streamers i know gonna play some games etc, but like this.. probably not. If it's bad i guess refund it don't buy it I'd say : / | ||

Good job Blizzard! Why can’t we have a better Bnet UI like for fuck’s sake? The slash commands just, bloody worked. My gaming history has a few tough periods, but when I was playing a lot of games online. 1. Warcraft 3. Very social, had a clan and channels could type fast enough to message multiple people in games as /w plus a username was quick. Had a fantastic time and made friends I still talk to, no VoIP whatsoever. 2. Xbox Live, mostly CoD. Super social as I had plenty of friends and the system of headsets and microphones worked super well. 3. Starcraft 2. Not social at all within the game. At launch the game was lacking tons of the features Warcraft 3 had. Added to that it’s stupidly slow to message multiple people if they’re messaging you in a game because the Bnet 2.0 eliminated unique usernames and thus the effectiveness of something like /w. Third party VoIP apps are basically needed, not sure about other people but my keyboard is far too loud with my microphone I use now, so I would have to mute myself to avoid annoying people. If I had the tools I had in Bnet 1 I could at least type a bit and feel I’m playing with friends even if I was laddering solo. | ||

I remember lol'ing at LoL's graphic for somehow being crappier than wc3 (back in 2009 not sure about now), not sure how blizzard screw up this hard. Too bad though, I really thought reforge was gonna be wc3's second chance. Also lmao at fanboys last year saying things it's still beta, they will get it right by release. Like how much faith (blind trust/confidence) do you have to have in a company to expect them to be able to clean up a turd that was the beta within a month? They should've seriously pushed back the release until summer. | ||

-No Stats -No Ladder -No Profiles (are u fcking kidding me?) Once the servers got rolling the game played and performed rather well. As far as graphics go, I think people forget how bad original War3 looked. I'm playing on low settings but there is an overall improvement. I dont want to sound like im justifying the game, its a complete embarrassment. It is literally the Beta with campaign added. It really bothers me that I knew this would happen but decided to just give it a shot anyways. $40 is nothing to me so whatever, its just pathetic how blizzard uses a 15 year old game as a cash grab. | ||

• it's sometimes hard to click on the player from whom you get vision to change it. Either the clickable part of the button is too small, or there's some problem. • the chat is sometimes doubled for some reason (the message appears twice)... Oh, and on top of all the bad things, all replays from the 1.31 version are impossible to view of course. Edit—Other bugs in the campaign: • Autoloss at start at the third mission of the Human campaign. Can't go further... • Autoloss at start at the first mission of the Orc campaign. What a joke really... | ||
