1) If your tower hits a creep, that creep no longer gives xp or gold. This makes pushing the lane in the laning phase actually desirable, and you start spending mana and abilities to kill creeps.
2) Ranged attacks are skillshots, and can be blocked by creeps. It adds a bit of fun to be able to hide from ranged attacks like you would hide from Pudge's hook. Of course, many abilities pierce creeps.
3) Juking. It's just fun when abilities and attacks are skillshots and they can be dodged.
4) Phoenix (aka T3 tower + barracks) can respawn after a short time. It respawns with low health, so the mega creeps will just destroy the thing immediately, but if you push out the lane while it's down, you can recover from that situation. That is also very fun
5) The winning team can max out on items+skills around the 25 minute mark. This means that if you're losing hard at the 20 minute mark, the enemy will pull ahead of you, but then the gap will shrink once they max out. Your team will be getting stronger and theirs won't, which makes comebacks more possible.
6) Information of what items people have, how much gold they make, the gold/exp graphs of each team, are all available to players during the match. This is controversial I'm sure, but I think it's nice.
On top of all of this, the game controls and plays very fluidly compared to back in the alpha/beta stage. I recommend anyone to give it a shot.
