Smite is out on Steam! Steam players can play with non-steam players.

Check out the SmitePro Youtube channel to watch full games of the Smite Pro League which is in full swing.

Hi-Rez is very active on reddit and it's a good place to stay up to date with patch notes and new gods.

Smite is a free to play, third person MOBA where you play as Gods and mythical beings from different pantheons. The game is developed by Hi-Rez Studios(http://www.hirezstudios.com).

Playing in third person changes the way the game is played a lot. Almost everything in the game, including basic attacks is a skillshot. Also you cannot see behind you unless you turn around, meaning ganks can be deadly since you might not see them coming until it's too late. On the flip side you can see very far forward so attacks from the front are never a surprise. So it's safe to say that the third person camera is NOT a gimmick, but instead gives the game a whole different feeling than other mobas.

If playing as your favorite Gods and battling it out sounds like fun to you, then I highly suggest you give the game a try and see how much fun it is for yourself! Also, don't worry if you've never played a MOBA or don't normally enjoy them. Smite is filled with players who have never played a MOBA before or never liked them until playing this game.

Official Smite website: www.smitegame.com

The main Game Mode in Smite is Conquest. This is your typical 5v5 moba experience, with 3 lanes, a jungle and an objective the team must kill to win the game. Like in other mobas, this mode is very deep and takes a lot to master. This is also the main competitive mode.

However, there are other more casual game modes that are a ton of fun, such as Arena, Assault, and Domination. These are modes that anyone can get into, and is a good way to learn the Gods and just have a great time. There is also a 1v1 Joust mode if you want a more personal challenge.

Smite is NOT pay to win. You only get 10 gods from the start, but you can unlock EVERY god with in-game currency. And no, it doesn't take a ton of grinding to unlock one. You can even unlock cosmetic recolors with in-game currency. The only things that one has to buy with real money are full god remodels. Also you can gain Gems(Smites real money currency) by logging in every day for a week, and referring people to the game.

List of all Gods: www.smitegame.com

The Smite scene is constantly growing. With tournaments running all the time and the player base steadily increasing. Also with all the changes and improvements being done to the game, it's a very exciting time to be a Smite fan. So what are you waiting for? Hurry up and join already!!

Thanks for the OP!

After having extensively played LoL (Gold V), trying DotA2 (not a ton, but some), and missing old school WoW PvP, this game is the only I'll be playing for the next period. It's immensely fun, and feels more coordinated and skill based than the other MOBAs in terms of actual combat control. My old WoW buddies, and many of my LoL buddies, have switched as well.

The 3v3 Joust and Arena game modes are especially refreshing, combining the MOBA build style with much better combat than League.

I've only been playing since the end of April but I do find Smite really fun. As someone who tried out DotA and LoL but never really got much into it, the gameplay felt a lot more comfortable for me from the start.

Watching the tournaments has become something of a weekly ritual for me. It's just a shame that the competitive scene is so small, I think a lot of people get bored of watching the same teams every weekend. Nonetheless, I love it, especially getting to see it from Lassiz or Zapman's perspective.

I used to only play conquest, but since 3v3 Joust came out I've been playing that with friends a lot. I highly recommend it.

Anyway, not much else I can think of to say but thanks for making a thread for this awesome game and I hope more people try it.

Played it for a couple of weeks up until they brought in Guan Yu and instantly stopped playing then.

Game was alright, but everything just felt kinda 'meh' especially during big fights. Hopefully it does get more popular though, would be interesting to see how it pans out.

If you liked it, you should probably give it another try, the game has been improved a lot since Guan Yu came.. more gods, better map, improved graphics, better balance...

Personally, I found the game to be a great casual game to play with friends in... LoL used to be our game like that, but while LoL is casual IMO, it's not even close to as casual as Smite and as people started to get better at LoL it was harder to keep the light mood, so Smite was a better option.

I don't actively play it any more, but it's definitely a game I recommend to people who want a moba with more focus on direct action.

As people started to get better at lol? How does that work with an MMR system and millions of players, are you the worst of the worst or something?

I hope hi-rez doesnt abandon this game like they have their last two. I want to try it out sometime, i did try at one point but it blue screened my PC. GG

With people, I meant my friends I played with, not the LoL population. When people get better, they get more tryhard and the fun atmosphere of a casual game is ruined.

I don't really understand how you can add a hero every two weeks and keep each one of them unique, interesting and balanced.

3v3 Joust and Arena are pretty much all I've been playing lately. MUCH deeper combat than LoL or DotA2.

It's fairly small right now, which isn't necessarily a bad thing. Curse and Dignitas have Smite teams, if that lends any credibility. The game feels casual at first because there isn't a creep score counter (though they do matter) and people forget that they're playing at level one. There's no denial, which isn't a bad thing in my opinion. The micro is significantly deeper than DotA2 or LoL (no "click on this guy to attack him" bs), since everything is a skillshot including auto attacks.

I paid $20 when this game was in alpha. It was buggy, laggy, and looked like shit but it looks like they finally listened to the community and fixed some glaring issues that made it unfun before.

I'll have to give this another go.

Started playing after watching SSoHPKC make a video on it. So far I'm only level 2 and still in the range of players who have never played a moba before so its a little boring. Game mechanics are super fun though, could see myself maybe playing once in a while.

Knowing Hi-Rez, the game will be dropped when they will start working actively on GA2, Tribes or even a Smite 2 lol. That's how Hi-Rez work, cheap game done quickly for quick cash then rinse and repeat.

I don't want to start a flaming war here, but all I can say is, you're just totally wrong.

It's 5v5 Conquest. Speaking of which, there is a Conquest map overhaul and will be live tomorrow!

So I tried this game in its current form and it is not more micro intensive, or more complex than LoL or Dota 2. The game is basically what you'd find in a Action MMORPG type game with Battlegrounds or Arenas. Anyone who has played Tera or Neverwinter (MMORPGs that use action targeting) will see the same type of playstyle here. That being said, the whole aiming mechanic does not make this game deeper in any way. Anyone claiming otherwise has oversimplified the strategy portions of the other games similar to this one.
