The game is basically what you'd find in a Action MMORPG type game with Battlegrounds or Arenas. Anyone who has played Tera or Neverwinter (MMORPGs that use action targeting) will see the same type of playstyle here. That being said, the whole aiming mechanic does not make this game deeper in any way. Anyone claiming otherwise has oversimplified the strategy portions of the other games similar to this one. Strategy != Mechanics. The micro is much more intensive (Gold LoL player). The teamfighting is worlds deeper, but I've recently started playing Arena only. It's the perfect solution to the void caused by WoW PvP's death.

I got a number of my old 2k+ WoW arena buddies to play Arena, now they're hooked. I'll eventually be starting a team to play competitively, and/or a Clan for 5queuing (we 4 and 5 queued Arena all weekend - haven't had this much fun since WotLK arena!). Let me know what times you usually play and I'll see if I have a spot for ya ![]()

+ Show Spoiler + http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p1a5CsYocbU BIG ANNOUNCEMENT: Smite & Tencent working together! + Show Spoiler + http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tQ24t0TJ-gw http://www.hirezstudios.com/hi-rez/latest-news/view/smite-blog/2013/08/21/tencent-hirez Taken from Tiermonster.com: Today it was annouced in a closed press conference that Tencent is parterning with HiRez Studios to bring Smite to the Asian Pacific market. Paraphrased from the Chinese press release: "Tencent obtained distribution rights to Smite, Chinese name of God Catastrophe, and expects the release to be in mainland China in October with release to other regions later this year". This is of course huge news for Smite as a community, Tencent was one of the backing forces behind the growth of League, and wen can expect a large growth in global players. This is a big deal and Smite will probably become a lot bigger very fast due to this deal. I believe Tencent is at least partly responsible for League being as big as it is. Well the game is in open beta now and completely free to play so I'm not sure what you'd be selling. I'd say try it out again when you get the chance. It's pretty much the only competitive game I play now.

I don't like LoL/Dota, but this game looks fun to me. Just want to make sure this has a decently active community and has some noob friendly stuff cause I think I might give this a shot ![]()

Just make an account and join the Arena queue, kill people and respawn almost instantly. Also 30 bucks for all gods and every god thats going to be released is a nice deal. Plus you can still buy skins with favor(earned in game).

I wouldn't waste money on this game if I were you. I was silly enough to waste money in Tribes to then learn that they abandoned it.

They updated and worked on Tribes and then basically stopped updating and fixing things and left it alone to go work on SMITE. They have tutorials and practice modes which are actually kinda good. They even have AI gods(bots) to play against. Arena is an awesome place to learn all heroes and get a good grasp on what will kill you and turnaround-situations etc for late conquest games. Assault is for all the "only mid" fellaz, so even they get what they want ![]() In general my (non-moba playing) friends got into Smite really really easy. Give it a shot! Oh yea, community... It's active enough but don't expect it too be any different - in terms of manners - from Dota/Lol ![]() On September 21 2013 16:25 pzea469 wrote: RELEVANT: http://www.reddit.com/r/Smite/comments/1m7ybi/what_will_hirez_do_with_smite/ TLDR for the link; HiRez invested(lost) alot of money(GA&TA), had lower revenue than investment. SMITE is the first game they developed to actually be profitable. So to the context; Smite will most likly not be abonded that easy; making money guud yo!

They've been doing the same thing since they started, I doubt anything will change. IMHO, there's nothing relevant in there at all. Just someone who doesn't really want to admit they are making mistake after mistake and blame it on the fact that some games "fail" or "all games see their playerbase decline". You can't expect people to continue playing your games if you stop pushing content for it for a really long time just to work on another attempt at a money making game. It's also very funny how he nearly doesn't talk about "What will HiRez do with Smite" at all when its supposed to be the point... All they're saying is that the game is profitable atm, have more people who work on it and they found an outside publisher. They never said anywhere that what happen with GA and TA won't happen to smite when they will actively work on GA2. They also didn't talk about what they will add in the game in the long run so that people continue to play and spend money on it. They lost a lot of money because of GA and yet they want to make another one. The worst in all this is that they apparently lost more money than their revenue after 2 games and they still think they can make it work with a MOBA where the competition is fierce and the 2 top contenders won't be dethrone anytime soon. I bet in the long run, Smite will make them loose money. But that's just my opinion.

I bet in the long run, Smite will make them loose money. But that's just my opinion. All the previous games made them lose money so they stopped, which is completely normal. Tribes didn't fail to make them money because Hi-Rez stopped making content. Hi-Rez stopped making content because Tribes failed to make them money, had poor esports potential since it was so hard to watch, and had a split community who strongly disagreed about how Tribes needed to adapt. Smite is the first one that is making a profit for Hi-Rez so they decided to publicly announce that they're taking all their workforce and focusing on Smite, and we went from an update every 2 weeks to one every week and amazing art overhauls. Of course he can't promise that Smite won't be abandoned in that reddit post. That would be a lie. They'll leave Smite if the playerbase decreases and the game stops turning in a profit. And that's completely normal, especially for smaller game companies. If they stop working on Smite and move to GA2 with the same team size, it will be because Smite stopped making them money. And when/if that happens, I won't be mad or complain. Especially when so much of the money came from the pockets of one of the founders of Hi-Rez. Yes Smite could fail, but right now it's still growing strong and many fans, including myself, believe it has a great shot at being in the same arena with Lol and Dota one day. Wukong Reveal
