Then that confuses the issue of if Melee comes back next year, or if they might try the new one.
Depends if Nintendo can actually learn and not make a shitty competitive game again like they did with Brawl.
Nintendo doesn't really give a shit about competitive gaming though.
nintendo almost didnt even give permission for this game to be streamed. shows u how much they really care about the community that supports their game
Thy gave in like 4 hours later. It seems like it was a knee jerk reaction to not stream it, but better heads prevailed.
They will probably try to monetize it in some way :<

yes
best character because of high ceiling. But probably the hardest to win tourneys, most unforgiving, and most difficult to learn of the top tier characters. The quote was "Fox don't win tournaments." No Fox has ever won a major national/international before Mango, and Mango isn't even really a fox main, he just plays matchups/what he's feeling.
Mango's a Fox main actually..
I would say that Falco is the best character in the game on-stage unless we get to inhuman levels of execution(many of Fox's techniques are so difficult that it's not possible to move your fingers fast enough). Absolute glass cannon though, he's the easiest character to combo in the game and has the worst recovery in the game.

Hopefully, HOPEFULLY, numbers like the ones that just showed up to watch Melee can convince them otherwise.
If not? They accidentally got it right with Melee, perhaps that title will just be immortal.
The problem is that they want their games to be family games, and they don't want their games to be portrayed as "hard" "competitive" games and scare away the family players.
Yep. That's always been nintendo's market and they've been pretty damn consistent about keeping it that way.

TBH the competitive community represents less than 1% of the people buying SSB
do you think the 1% could have done all that on their own?
Yes, considering it sold 7 million+ copies, it's possible that just a very small fraction of those sales were from people in the competitive community. If not 1%, maybe around 5%. I'm sure there are a lot of people that didn't actually buy a copy in the community as well.

I think KoF and Melee both have pretty good odds, Nintendo's bungling notwithstanding. Persona tho
Which is a real shame too because P4 was great this year. And the Japan-Bananamerica 5v5 was great too. Definitely going to be getting back into P4A after seeing that.
Rumor is that Atlus has an announcement later on about a P4A update, so that could shake things up a bit.
Cool, a John Steward GL skin. Was hoping for a separate character but that works. Not impressed by Martian Manhunter but his super is kinda cool looking

I wish Sc2 had something as epic Evo or Dota's intentional. One big event that everything fed into once a year building up the hype.
It should be WCS. But it so isn't...
Maybe blizzcon but I have little faith in blizzard after last years finals
No region locking will yield much better finals this year, for all of the complaining and drama regarding what it does or doesn't do for the local scenes it will definitely benefit the global finals by producing a much more competitive tournament.
Count on it.
I've got my ticket already, it's 4 months away and I cannot wait.
The quality of the games does not bring the viewers. I do not care for a Korean A vs. Korean B matches, without someone to cheer for (relatable and charismatic figure) I will not sit in front of the pc. There will be zero hype for the WCS finals with the current format.
Speak for yourself. You certainly don't speak for everyone.

it could be a family game still have a competitive community. i dont understand nintendo's view that apparently you can't have both sides

It's an archaic philosophy honestly.
Almost every video game worth anything has a hardcore and casual fanbase.
WoW is a great example, LoL is another.
Just because you refine your game with competitive play in mind, doesn't mean it has to lose that same family friendly magic that makes Nintendo games what they are.
Hopefully Injustice is hype with it being in the middle of KoF/Smash and Marvel/AE. They better bring something. I don't want to lose this hype train momentum even if a little of it was killed by a Fox player.
