Birdman didn't get tossed because Hansbrough stood his ground while Lebron fell over (flopped over more like I mean seriously Nazr is like half his size)
It's one of the things I agree with JVG about, the refs put WAY WAY WAY WAY WAY too much fucking emphasis on whether or not the players fall down. This Birdman vs Nazr contrast is a perfect example of that in action.

No, I agree. I only saw the chest bump/shove at first but after the game I saw the full thing, and I definitely think Birdman's was worse. It was basically three things. Shoulder, shove, and then having to be restrained by the ref/not leaving in an appropriate manner.
What's funny/sad is that as bad as it was that Anderson wasn't thrown out, it was even worse that they gave Hansbrough a tech.
I dont understand how Birdman isn't getting more than 1 game. Who gives a shit about the "push", sure that is worth MAYBE 1 game. However, the "check" before it would be flagrant 2 even in 1970...in the NFL.
More than one game? Are you for real? Unless you throw down or elbow a dude in the throat (a la Pittman last year) you're not getting more than one game. The suspension itself could be considered debatable, but multi-game? Never.

1. Nazr's a big dude 2. Lebron was standing flat footed. If you're not braced for impact, it's very easy to be knocked over 3. I think the refs missed the initial slam and only caught the shove. Hanbrough didn't stand his ground on the slam, he was also knocked over. I think the refs just missed that. 4. The shove was different because Anderson and Hansbrough were both posturing at each other and both bumped chests first. It was not like Nazr blindsiding Lebron at all. The shoulder slam was.

If you look at it logically:
The check that started the incident (which was worse than the push) = 1 game. The push = 1 game (based on precedent).
Edit: Precedent that I disagree with by the way. A push to the chest of a stationary player is barely Flagrant 1 material IMO.

Ok, I see what you're saying. Question though - which push precedent are you using? A bunch of NBA guys think no single thing in the game warranted a game suspension but the combination off things (check, push, general behavior/tone of the series) culminated in the single game.

Pacers have locked down Dwayne Wade all series. It's pretty amazing how they're winning this without their second best player contributing on offense and Bosh not doing too hot on any end either.
