Playing a bit... so far the visuals are nice but i'm not sure what is supposed to catch me about this game. Am i playing WoW v no 9xxx?

Didn't get in on this one. So hyped though. They seem to do everything WoW does wrong right, but it looks like i has the same feel and familiarity.

You pretty well hit the nail on the head there. Been in the closed beta for awhile now, and best way I can explain it is like this.

It kinda reminds me of a hybrid between SWTOR, WOW, and Tera. There is tab targeting like wow and, no auto attack like in wow. You have to click shit to do shit. Also most of your abilities have an AOE, so much in like tera, they have to be targeted appropriately as well.

Questing is like a mix as well, most of it isn't voice acted. So most of the time I just click through the text, and look at my quest tracker. Some quests however are voice acted, and there are alot of cutscenes which are fun. The "path" aspect of the game makes questing feel much more fun and unique to your toon as well.

PvP is fun as fuck

Plus who doesn't like player housing?

Overall, I really enjoy it thus far. And am excited for launch.

I applied a stress test code to my (newly made) acc but realize that I dont have time to really enjoy it. Im happy to loan it out to someone who wants to have a go.

You may not want to do that. I believe beta keys that are sent track IP address and if it is played from another IP address, the account is banned.

You are kind to want to share though!

It would be difficult to play from two different locations on the same account, but I am using a friend's account with no problem. He simply is done with playing the beta for whatever reason, so I'm just using his account. Were we truly sharing? Yea, we probably wouldn't be able to keep the account.

What they look for is rapid changes in location - that is when you log in from one location, then another, faster then you can travel the distance. This is also why proxies sometimes cause people problems with getting caught by these systems - They can cause your IP's "location" to vary wildly, causing false positives.

So, sharing accounts is pretty much 100% safe as long as you leave enough time between log-ins that you could physically travel to the location of whoever you are sharing the account with.

Yep, that's most likely it. I did have to 'allow' my IP access on the account, but it's fine. As far as their system is concerned, the account user has simply moved.

What misinformation are you referring to? There are in fact two types of beta keys for Wildstar.

Just saw some videos on this game and what stands out is the Path system. That has the most potential of the mechanics in this game, imo, and really intrigues me. Going to be hard to make them all equally interesting though.

Been playing with the weekend key for a bit, and yeah I'm breaking the NDA, but not really because I'm not gonna share any details. I have to say that the starting zones are done refreshing but necessarily more fun, however once you get into the open world and get to do your path's little missions that even have advantages in single quests etc, it's just great. The game is running smoothly for me (it SHOULD with an 4670 running it) with some dips in very dense areas, but hopefully optimization will fix that.

The game looks cartoony; WoW-esque but with a slightly different aesthetic, although kind of in the same ''universe'' of aesthetics. Not sluggish at all. PvP is interesting although killing someone/getting killed in BG's takes a while of getting used to (checking health etc) and it takes a while to actually die/kill someone. Kind of like it but might get stale after a while. Has to have that punch that WoW had.

Levelling goes pretty slow and I'm very happy about that! I'd love to test out housing although I'm not sure if i want to spoil my way into level 14, but so far the levelling has been slow, steady, and fun.


My preferred classes right now are Stalker and Spellslinger, one for melee and one for ranged. I feel the Stalker feels less sluggish as the warrior, and i just love the jumping forward of the SpellSlinger. :D

Really gonna try hard to get a permanent beta key after this. Damn. I'm addicted before I even paid or played the actual game.
