Big necrobump, but I feel it's necessary given there's been some concrete info released by CDPR during a financial conference, and a likely E3 showing coming.

Couple of interesting bits from Adam Kicinski and Piotr Nielubowicz at CDPR financial conference:

character creation and lack of predefined character confirmed

multiple classes/roles confirmed

they again made it clear that CP is not going to contain any microtransactions or other stuff like that, you pay for the game once and that's it

Cyberpunk is very technologically advanced and developed in such a way to be ready to take advantage out of future hardware/generations, but regarding next gen consoles, they can only speculate, since none of them were announced yet

regarding multiplayer, Adam stated that their first priority is to deliver great single player experience with amazing narrative, but at some point they might deliver some online features. For me it sounds like multiplayer won't be part of the game at release and will be added some time after.

also he added that as opposed to The Witcher, in Cyberpunk player will be able to move in three dimensions, I'm not sure what exactly he meant by that

https://www.reddit.com/r/cyberpunkgame/comments/86ahkd/info_about_cyberpunk_from_todays_financial/

There's also some wild speculation that there is a deliberate glitch effect on the powerpoint here (check the top left side) that shows 3 Es, hinting at a showing at this year's E3.

Possible reveal just before E3... Also they are working on another game entirely. Whoa.

Also worth noting this is the first time, I think, the Playstation 5 has been mentioned.

Finally our first glimpse beyond the first teaser.

There's a message from CDPR, and if you were expecting the game any time soon, think again.

Because I'm getting a little irked at some of the dumber reactions to the trailer, I'll answer a few.

"Why is it so bright! Where's my neon lights, rainy nights, and Blade Runner aesthetic!"

Notice how it's Cyberpunk 2077, not Blade Runner 2077. Please at least bother to look up what the tabletop RPG is and how it presented itself.

"It's called Night City why is it daytime!"

Named after its creator Richard Night.

God I'm pretty sure 99% of people don't actually know what cyberpunk is, and think that the vaporwave aesthetic of Asian neon signs in the night with rain passes as the genre.

Top things that interest me right now:

1. What kind of soundtrack can we expect?

Will it be more modern and more movie-like (vide recent Deus Ex stuff) or will it be more synthwave/retrowave to pay homage to when the original RPG was created (I really wish they'd do a bit of both, maybe as a form of radio stations like in GTA).

2. Customizable clothes/cars etc.

Big part of the P&P RPG was kitting out your character with a lot of bling and extra chrome. I wish they keep this aspect. And let's be honest here, cosmetics quite often make or break the game.

3. Extent of character trait customization

I'd love something akin to Deus Ex's character progression but with more options and various routes so you could build a hacker, a stealthy guy, a soldier and use more or less augments (with more augments inevitably pushing you towards cyberpsychosis and inviting a visit from the Psycho Squad - what we've seen in the first trailer).
Time is precious. Waste it wisely.

Everyone remembers the Asian neon signs, no one remembers the oil fields on fire in the background. I need to see more, but the point of cyberpunk is that is commented on the social and political injustices of the era. Blade runner is a very specific 80s vision of the future that said something about the insecurities of the era. CDPR isn’t going to just regurgitate that vision onto a disk, they are going to make a story that hopefully speaks to modern visions of a dystopian techo future.

Got some details on the gameplay.

CD Projekt describes the game as a "first-person RPG."
Gameplay is in first a first-person perspective, but switched to third-person during a cutscene.
You play a character named V (as in the letter).
V can be a man or a woman.
The stats you pick it the start include Strength, Constitution, Intelligence, Reflexes, Tech, and Cool.
These stats are all pulled from the original tabletop RPG.
You can drive cars in the game, and seemingly toggle between first and third person during this.
While driving in first-person, the U.I. appears diegetically on the windshield.
CD Projekt also described Cyberpunk as a "mature experience intended for mature audiences."
Like Witcher, you take missions from NPCs and have dialogue options in conversations.
It's an open world that you open up more with "street cred." For example, a specific jacket might raise it by 5%, allowing you access to new places.
Completing a quest levels up your street cred.
The UI in the demo is extremely minimal at -- just a light compass and a small quest log.
UI expands during combat -- enemies have names, health bars, and what appear to be levels.
Some enemies have question marks instead of levels, possibly meaning they're much higher level than you.
Damage numbers pop up during combat.
There's a bullet-time-like ability that allows you to slow down time.
CD Projekt keeps emphasizing that choices have consequences, in the moment and to the world at large.
Obstacles have several solutions depending on your skills. For example, V got to a door, but his hacking skill was too low. However, his engineering skill was high enough, so he could open a panel and bypass the door.
There's an inspection system lets you look super close at items and learn more about lore.
You use an inhaler to heal.
Gunplay feels slower than Doom or Borderlands, but faster than Fallout 4.
CD Projekt showed off some late-game abilities, including mantis-like blade arms and wall running.
We saw a boss fight against a dude in an exoskeleton. This included sliding under cars and taking cover.

Interested to see how they'll handle a first person perspective.

https://www.twitch.tv/gamespot

CDPR are holding a discussion in 3 minutes.

Only three real classes you can focus on: Netrunner, Techie, and Solo. You can incorporate elements from other classes like Corporate, but you can't purely focus on them. Fluid class system; you aren't locked into one from the character creation screen and can specialize in other fields. Can be a hybrid of Solo and Corporate for example.

Guns and melee combat focused. Saying they learned from TW3's combat and want to translate those corrections. Power weapons (very impactful), tech (penetrative), smart (track and follow).

Voiced characters for both genders.

Areas range from wealthy sections to Pacifica where it's virtually lawless and run by gangsters. Pushing for verticality and "megabuildings" that are basically towns.

Exp from completing main missions and street cred from side quests. Street cred allows you to unlock fixers (quest givers) and vendors. I also think I heard no level scaling (thank God).

Am i the only one who would rather have over the shoulder/3rd person POV instead of first person?

It would be best to have both (like in Morrowind).

I'm liking some things I'm hearing like no level scaling and separating main quest and side quest experience so you can't get overleveled from side quests, which was a problem in TW3. I'm a touch disappointed from being unable to be every class they had in C2020, but I also accepted the inevitability. Some classes just don't translate well to a game they are going to have combat in, like Media or Rockerboy.

I don’t know how you have a game that has this much fashion, expressive design and then not let your players look at their character the entire game. It doesn’t make sense.

To all of you asking - you’ll have many opportunities to see your character. It’s going to be First Person RPG, not a FPS.

Cut scenes will be third party, so assume you see them there. Likely to be some camera mode to take screenshots and then you have mirrors and reflections in a cityscape.

Personally I like changing outfits, then I don't care which one I wear after actually picking it (the fun part). I don't mind games where you can't change look at all or even know how the main character looks like. I will always wear the equipment with best stats, which is why I guess mmos tend to do glamours or separate cosmetic slots.

It does make sense if you take into account any deadlines they've set for themselves. If you don't have TPP all the time you don't have to worry about rendering the model all the time and don't have to do all the possible animations and stuff.

But that's only assuming that their game engine can't do it by default... (I'm grasping at straws here)

This preview article has a ton more info on the game's combat, RPG mechanics, writing, and environment.

To me this feels more truly cyberpunk than a ton of other attempts.

I'm glad to see a departure from dreary, polluted cyberpunk settings because people have become so creatively bankrupt and can't think beyond Blade Runner and Neuromancer. This is based off a PnP RPG that emphasized the rule of cool, style was everything, and had a soundtrack of 80s punk. Hell, they even have an explanation for why the skies are so blue; because they switched away from fossil fuels eventually.

People love fashion and looking at their cool characters. A lot of RPG is action figure dress up for a lot of folks. Part of the RPG is looking the part and acting the part. The Witcher did a good job of this, but it was a single main character which helped. I get the limitation and that first person RPGs don’t request the same amount of animation and environment interaction, but I would still like a 3rd person game. Its not a deal breaker, but I won’t say it isn’t a tiny bummer.

Heh, pre-order over at Amazon has its release at 2030 (a placeholder for sure, just hoping it won't turn into a reality)
