Pokemon games are kinda boring by themselves imo, but they become awesome once you add yourself some rules (no leveling up in the high grasses, KO = bye pokemon, speedrun,...).

Fast / speedrunning = 1 = optimal I've always found it more annoying to use 3 since I end up having 2 fall behind in levels and become worthless in the late game no matter how hard I try to keep them all the same level. Not to mention gen 3 and 4 had get the legendary and become OP so it didn't even matter what pokemon you had.

With normal play + a lil bit of farming/loose EV training, I usually end up with 3 pkmns on the same or 1,2 level better than E4's. That guarantees a fun and challenging pokémon league. 2 others are for HM slaves The last slot belongs to whichever cool pkmn that appear really late in the first walkthrough. This one will be the flagship one in post-game play Legendaries are for decorating anyway. I stopped using them since 2003 (the original reason was that most of them couldnt be used in Battle Tower)

What I like doing is finding really weak gimmicky pokemon and trolling the shit out of the AI. my last playthrough was white 2 and I made a very defensive serperior with coil/giga drain/leaf blade/leech seed. He beat the champion by himself even though he was underleveled by like 12 levels haha

I generally used 6 pokemon all the time in my playthroughs, then i started nuzlockes and it changed to 3 cos, i need OP pokes and i need moar then 1. And i started a few attempts at speedrunning which is set in stone as 1. Its situational, preference and how your playing and how you WANT to play really. I mean, it IS only pokemon. #Heretic #Burnhimnow

Also I still want my Contrary Serperior ![]()

Mega Garchomp has Sand Force as its Ability. Fairy-type is super effective against Fighting, Dark, and Dragon, weak to Steel and Poison, resists Fighting, Dark, and Bug, is not very effective against Steel, Fire, and Poison, and is immune to Dragon. Steel's Dark and Ghost resistances are gone now. The second stage evolutions of the Starter Pokemon are revealed: Hariboogu is Chespin's evolution, Grass-type, and learns Mud Shot. Teerunaa is Fennekin's evolution, is Fire-type, learns Psycho Cut, and has a twig in its tail. Gerogashira, Froakie's evolution, is Water-type and learns Bounce. Two Fossil Pokemon are revealed: Chigorasu (the brown T. Rex below) is a Rock/Dragon type has Hard Chin as its Ability, which increases the attack of moves involving the jaw, like Crunch. Amarusu (the first blue Pokemon below), a Rock/Ice type, has Freeze Skin as its Ability. The ability changes all its Normal-type attacks to Ice-type attacks and boosts their power. Two new Pokemon are revealed: Torimian, a white Normal-type Pokemon (the one from the Pokemon Direct), has Fur Coat as its Ability, which cuts damage in half from moves that come into contact with you. You can trim its fur to change its appearance. Nyaonikusu (Meowstick from the leaks), a Psychic-type cat, has stark gender differences and each gender has a different set of movepools. The male's movepool is more aggressive while the female's is more supportive. The female is on the left and the male is on the right. Nyaonikusu has Keen Eye or Infiltrator as its Abilities. There are five scientists associated with Team Flare: Kuseroshiki, Momiji, Bara, Akebi, and Kolea. You can customize your clothes and hair at a Salon/Boutique. A famous actress named Karune helps you. ![]()

Amarusu's ability sounds REALLY sweet. Ice/Rock is a fantastic attacking type combination, and having the ability to use, say, Body Slam for a powerful physical Ice move that can paralyze is pretty damn cool. The defensive typing is atrocious, but most fossil Pokémon are like that.

Think of Fairy type as "guardians of nature" type Fae, or Kodama, like the Great Forest Spirit from Princess Mononoke (Xerneas and Yvetal's resemblence to Forest Spirit/Nightwalker are pretty obvious). Their weaknesses make sense in that context (poison = pollution, steel is industry, etc). Their resistance vs fighting and dark types (which represent honor vs villainy) can be explained through nature's disinterest in morals or ideologies. As for Dragons... yea that's just for balance.
