Wonder how much this will affect competitive play. Chlorophyll will still probably be better for Venasaur unless his mega evolution has a giant stat gain and Charizard is doomed to NU until he loses the fire / flying type or stealth rock is removed. Isn't it plausible that he could be a weather lead?

Unless charizard has a stat advantage. Faster and bulkier would make him better than before, though the problem indeed lies in the fact that he can't switch around much if the enemy gets SR up.

In the current OU meta, at least. If Ninetales + whatever other Drought setters they introduce are all OU then MegaCharizard might be the best UU Drought? Still not great though.

I'm predicting megablastoise will be the most popular of the three. The charizard and venusaur upgrades were just "meh".

I still can't get over that Pokemon digivolve now haha. Blastoise was always my favorite but those arm cannons are badass. Maybe I can play something on 3ds besides Monster Hunter now.

Unfortunately it's not higher resolution, so I feel that the quality isn't as clean and sharp on it compared to the normal screen. It definitely shows at times.

they better make the game fucking hard then. Lets face it you're only going to use the 1 starter anyway unless they make it impossible to get lucky egg. At this point its which ever starter has the best stats then squirtle as a HM slave. Eh what? If you want a balanced team (especially early on) getting that extra fire/water/grass type early is golden. The optimal way to play is generally using 1 pokemon and HM slaves (They've made it slightly harder in later generations with the introduction of double battles) A balanced team is nice and all but it won't make you a pokemon master Show nested quote +On September 04 2013 21:24 Pandemona wrote:On September 04 2013 21:21 Drazerk wrote:On September 04 2013 21:21 Pandemona wrote:Don't you date slave Squirtle :O BLASPHEMY!! Gamefreaks should really get rid of HM slaves and let you use HMs out of battle without teaching it to your pokemon. Flash and Cut were worse enough, but then you had to have pokemon with Dive, Waterfall, Whirlpool, Rock Climb, etc.

Yeah adding in so many HM's was pretty silly, i think there were 7? in the last game i fully played through, im sure there are more now right?
Thats like 2 full pokemon of HM's
2/6 instagibbed by design T.T
And the optimal way to play is clearly 3 pokemon + HM slaves. Not one.

at least fly and surf are useful in battle.

I dunno, as long as you choose a pokemon without any real weaknesses, the fact you have like 10 or 20 more levels than anyone else is just too good. And if you really struggle, X Special/Attack and that's it.
|
It's also a really boring way to play imo. Even if it's 'optimal', you hardly need to be optimal to beat the pokemon games.
And how do you mean 'without real weaknesses'? Every pokemon has weaknesses?
