Tyranitar, Salamence, Garchomp, Hydreigon. The only pattern I see is that the even number ones are super badasses (not to say Salamence and Hydreigon aren't badasses! They're just not as cool as Garchomp!), so if this pattern continues we'll get a super badass pseudo legendary in Gen 6! Even more badass than we could ever imagine.

That gives him some credibility, but as with all unofficial info, take this with a little skepticism: Fairy will be a new type. It is weak to Poison and Steel, immune to Dragon, super effective against Dragon, Dark, and Fighting, and Fire and Psychic-type Pokemon take half damage from it. Sylveon is Fairy-type. Some older Pokemon will be reclassified to Fairy, such as Mawile (Steel/Fairy). Mewtwo has two new formes, not just one. Both are activated via items. The professor's English name is Patrice. The Starter final evolutions are Fire/Psychic, Grass/Fighting, and Water/Dark. The first Gym is Bug, the second is Fairy, and the fourth is Fighting. A few attacks will be dual-typed. There will be a new type of battling style that Flying-type Pokemon and Pokemon with Levitate can participate in. You will be able to see a Pokemon's EVs at a certain in-game facility. You will be able to boost the EVs through mini-games. It will take about two hours to get one stat to max EVs. I like these changes. Adding a new type will shake up the balance of the game a bit, and giving an easier way to train EVs will probably get more people to legitimately train Pokemon, rather than hacking them or using online alternatives. I don't know how I feel with Fairy being that strong, unless they ensure the fairy pokemon have low stats. And imagine a Fairy Arceus?

Fairies have the potential to essentially have the most dangerous Pokemon on lockdown simply by virtue of being strong against all three (and being immune to one of them, no less). Thinking about it some more, I don't necessarily mind that phenomenon. What I am concerned about is that Steel types, already some of the most used, will skyrocket in use even more. Scizor and Metagross will be FUCKING EVERYWHERE, thanks to the former's ridiculous Attack and the latter's resistance to Fairy and great defenses. My feeling is that the game will begin to revolve around Fairies, in that your average team will have a Dragon, a Fairy to counter enemy Dragons, and a Steel to counter enemy Fairies and mitigate the damage from enemy Dragons should their own Fairy fall. As much as I think adding a new type is a good idea to make things more interesting, I feel like Fairy ought to have at least one more weakness.

Also Im surprised people that play pokemon want more aggressive shit, thought thats why people played pokemon for the very laid back/friendly atmosphere. The more goofy the better in my opinion. I love snorlax and stuff like that.

My concern is that Fairy is going to work a little too well, and we'll end up switching from an overcentralized metagame in Gen V to an overcentralized metagame in Gen VI. anything to get rid of the stupid weather meta. Guess we will just have to see how they handle it.

According to the April usage stats on Smogon, Scizor is the most widely used Pokemon (and was always top 5 in Gen IV), and it isn't even close. Metagross isn't used that much anymore (48th), but everyone and their mother has Dragonite, Lati@s, Salamence, Garchomp, etc. Your average team already has a Dragon. The best you can do now is to have a bunch of Pokemon carry Ice Beam or HP Ice. At least Fairy offers more variety to the game, if nothing else. I hope they do something in gen VI to curb weather wars. OU lost a bit of its lustre for me in gen V.

That will probably always happen until Game Freak starts giving a shit about the competitive scene. Hopefully it will get better now with the 3DS, since games can actually be patched, and we don't have to wait for a completely new game for balance changes lol.

It has created arguably the biggest centralization of typing since Gen 1 and feels more mindless to me. When you have so many insanely fast pokemon with huge attacking stats, even resisted walls get hurt On May 19 2013 02:51 arb wrote: lol that isnt even that strong really, thats ridiculous. being strong against 3 types is like saying fighting types should all have shitty stats because they're strong vs rock steel and normal or something Are you someone that only plays the story? Water is good against three types as well but it's an amazing type. Dragon is the best attacking type but it's only effective against itself. Can you say they're bad? Fairy is op because it's immune to the best attacking type that has the strongest moves, weak to two uncommon attacking moves. It being super-effective to fighting is a added bonus considering how infested the current meta is with fighting pokemon

I wouldn't mind Drizzle/Drought so much if there were more ways to combat it than constantly switching in your own weather. It's either carry a random Tyranitar or accept the fact that I have to eat 100% thunders and hydro pumps that do boosted damage all game long. I like weather, I'd just like to see more ways to fight it. Maybe more pokes with access to Cloud Nine, or some sort of new move that punishes weather I'd also like to see a few more rapid spinners

Purind, you remember how Defog would clear foggy weather in DPP? I think there ought to be a similar move that clears weather, like Rapid Spin does for entry hazards. If that theoretical move got sufficient distribution, I think weather wars would be easier to deal with. Hopefully, we can look forward to something like that in X and Y.
