Gentlemen, Wouldnt it be a fine idea to start a Crusader Kings 2 (Or grand strategy in general) Choose your own adventure challenge, in the spirit of the Pokemon soul silver cyoa? Itd be a great way to get a good ol war council going, and to see what a democratic voting style playthrough would be like for a grand strat game.
I will start this challenge if we get enough people interested posting.

Sounds like fun, if you can make it as entertaining as the Pokemon one, definitely go ahead!
I think I'd use a poll system to decide all our major nations moves, and I'd need some help with picking the nation . Should be a really fun project though!
I'd love to see some of the new features of the Rome expansion, if you have it. If not, I had a hell of a lot of fun playing as a Norwegian king and starting off with a claim on England, makes for an entertaining start IMO.
On the other hand, I haven't had much experience with any of the other nations, so it would be fun to see something completely different too.
I just started another playthrough recently playing as Novgorod and trying to unite the Russian empire. Good fun.
Hmm, I think I'm just gonna call a vote in the next few posts to decide between level of ruling (king/count/etc.)
Can we pick the GoT mod to do this one?
I think I'm just gonna do a regular one first, if people like it I'll do some mods, or perhaps another EU3 Merry go round
What would be the goal of this game in the end? Just go crazy and get as much land as you can before the game ends or would it be more a style of uniting Great Brittain/Spain and call it there?
Poll: What rank are we starting out asDuke (17) 50% Count (13) 38% Emperor (2) 6% King (2) 6% 34 total votes Your vote: What rank are we starting out as (Vote): Emperor (Vote): King (Vote): Duke (Vote): Count
I was thinking about starting out poor and working our way up to being able to push around other countries.
Anywayl, vote for what we are starting out as, in terms of rank

Either a small Duchy or a County imo. There's a cool little Duchy in Wales (Deneubarth or something). It only has one county to begin with, but has a claim on 2 neighboring ones, and is threatened by a rival Duchy just north of it. And of course England (whoever wins it).
Large realms are far too annoying to keep track of. =(
voted for small king, dont like having stupid lieges and no title revocation :D
can i suggest modding the game for weaker fatamid start and full reconquista CB for the byz only available to reformed roman empire? Otherwise those two empires paint half of europe green/violet.
I'm gonna go to bed now, I will be monitoring the thread tomorrow, expect to pick a country tomorrow around 19:00 CET, first gameplay will ensue at that point as well, coupled with some polls.
i love choose your own on anything its always really fun to do/see these kinds of things
The crusader kings subreddit had some good starting suggestions here.
Well, I'm still on my first playthrough as the Duke of Axum, which is a tough spot because your neighbors have more tech more population and can declare infinite holy war on you for all your titles, I've made it almost to 1300 and am now Catholic and recently independent from Fatimid rule, I'm considering swearing fealty to the HRE just for security purposes, but we'll see.
As far as my suggestions go, I'd like to see something like Duke of Burgundy or something to do with Genoa.
Seems like we're gonna be following a Duke of some sort. I'll post a poll tonight to decide what duchy we're starting out as. Any suggestions on what might be fun to follow? I was personally thinking of either uniting Ireland (That might be really slow at the start though) or starting somewhere in burgundy or italy
Duke often is the best choice, not as long as a Count, and not as easy as Kingdom.
Anywhere in the British Isles is my preference. Isle of Man is my favorite faction to play, but that's only a County, so meh.
Although imo Ireland is too easy to straight up conquer if you start out with one of the Dukes, as you're never really threatened by anyone stronger than you.
Being a count and working your way up is basically what the EU3 succesion game did. I remember them starting as alsac and conquering most of central europe and a bit of turkey, right?
