You can turn in options maim before death, that makes your character revive with 1 health after dropping to 0 which removes swarm, need torest after ogre fight though.

Full gear drop is hardly a flaw, nothing forces you to pick it up if you don't want it.

I've been playing this quite a bit, but I stopped after I hit a few too many bugs, will pick it back up after they patch it.

that seems to cancel the visual but the -20 concentration it gives are still under active effects : (

the game is really bugging hard when it comes to status effects

I dont know why the game didnt give me the option to kill him, though. Betreyal can never be forgiven!

The existence of Slicken kind of makes up for the lack of pre-buffing, you can just buff while everyone's locked down.

I wonder if they considered giving Slicken to the wizard companion you get early on but decided that would make the game too easy. I ended up getting it from a grimoire.

I am somehow motivated to try out how i will fare with a group of only warriors. On hardest difficulty, no ironman though. Waiting with my real playthrough for the patch, as the bugs make it not worth using the a-team right now. I think the Fighting system in the game in principle is really good, it's just that some classes have received more love besides the actual battlefield then others. Rogues are basically just warriors with less life and a conditional damageboost. Rangers are the same, their damgeboost is just pettable. Or not, in case of the fox. The talents are too broad and have too little flavour, and the class talents are simply too few or too bad. And as the secondary stats (lore and stuff) are not tied to anything, a rogue is the most obsolete part of the team. Why would i take a rogue if i could just take a barbarian and have twice the endurance. Especially as you can't really heal, just postpone damage. And the itemisation is just weird. There is basically no incentive to give your damagedealers melee weapons. if you attack in melee range, you will just get aggroed randomly. Everyone can use everything and if the enemy is not immune to piercing, you can just let everyone fire away... even your mages...

Concerning mages, please balance spells to a reasonable level. Why is my cone of fire doing more damage then my fireball, and a bazillion times more damage then the single target spells of the first spell level? Makes nooooo sense.

the game is still great, i hope they put the money the earn from it into the details and build a game that is truly awesome.

So looking at the achievements, can you do this over multiple playthroughs? Path of the Damned + Trial of Iron + Solo all at once sounds a bit extreme, I'm not sure how troublesome expert is.

Complete the game on Expert, Trial of Iron, and Path of the Damned modes without taking any companions after Cilant Lis.

please, a rogue has sneak attack, reckless assault and later deathblows, his autoattacks always hurt a lot.
And oneshotting someone 2 times per rest as a bonus.

Figther with less life pfffff

The rogue doesnt have to be in melee if the barbarians AE is better than rogues bonus damage, he gets most of his things at range as well.




I do agree on spells, i find myself casting lvl 1-2s more than the other levels, especially with Cipher i had a lot of "meh" when leveling up.

Imo barbraians transition pretty poorly to path of the damned where enemies maonly has lot more accuracy and defenses (and a little more endurance, but rather negligible). Higher accuracy hurts especially because how hitting mechancics work, with horrid base deflection and no shield most of the attacks against you will be crits. Another thing is base 25 accuracy without +accuracy talents, it is manageable but not great. Class is definitely usable and not as bad as ranger but has very major flaws on potd.

I agree about ciphers, every level seems to have 1 very good spell, 1 kinda useful and the rest is meh, lvel 6 could be better than previous ones but for me amplified wave is bugged and prones enemies for 0.0 instead of 8.7sec. Having huge aoe and decent damage the skill could be really nice, on the other hand mind plague is "I won this fight" button so you don't really need to bother with other spells.

i do like it that monsters dont give experience. in most rpgs killing mobs is a goal in itself while here its more an obstacle you have to overcome to get to your goal. it again reminds me more of pen&paper rpgs where fights are generally something dangerous which will only drain your ressources and do nothing good; except being fun i guess.
they again could have emphazised it a bit more, i.e. letting you finish whole questlines without fighting anyone if you have the right combination of skills, reputation, classes and so forth but i am glad i dont have to kill every mob i see to get maximum experience.

as for spells:
yeah i think the cipher level 2 and 3 spells are very weak compared to the first two levels, although i used fractured volition and silent scream a shit ton of times.
wizard spells i find kind of weird anyway. they have a lot of spells that buff the casters stats or give them other bonuses in meele engagements but because the duration is too short to place multiple buffs on themself and fight at the same time, i dont get what those spells are there for. the other spells i think are fine, there are many good 3rd and 4th level spells (expose vulnerabilites and crackling bolt and 3, wall of flame and minolettas concussive missles on 4 are usefull in all fights throughtout the game and will win any small fight in an instant).

frightened skelletons are silly though.

From cipher level 3 and 4 puppet master and pain block are pretty strong, although for me they came in time when difficulty fallen off a bit so I didn't use them whole lot and by the time I got more difficult fights i got better options than puppet master, in those few hard fights pain block was very useful though.

Went into Sanitarium's basement. Got key, tried to look for that guy that was supposedly forced into experiments. Had huge brain fart and tried opening the door more on the west side of map. Loaded, reloaded, tried switching locations. I really thought I have some huge bug where the door just won't open.

Turned out I was just an idiot and I missed the obvious "north door". Who said mages are smart?

Anyway, got 8th level and I'm really disappointed in spells from 4th level.:/

Spent already like 10 hours just walking between districts in the city and making quests - quite a lot of them, lots of reading, loving it. Just now I will leave the city first time in weeks (game time). Game has flaws, some mechanics could be better, but still it feels so good just wandering about.

so it seems that equipping that horn of moderation item on a cipher breaks the class, and u stop getting focus from attacks. Good thing I noticed like 5 hours after my last save without the item -.-. But then again, saw people play for 20-30 hours before noticing, as it only activates once the character gets KO'd.

I'm enjoying the game so far, halfway through act2 I think. I prefer the baldurs gate story, somehow it drew me in more and care about the characters more, the BGII villain is still the best in a pc-game ever. I haven't encountered many bugs, im playing on normal with a 6 man party, most fights are too easy. There are some glaring issues with lvl 1 spells being more powerful than lvl 3 spells. After i complete this play-through i'll probably try a solo run. Should be quite doable with a mage.

Well Baldurs Gate 2 is better in every conceivable way to this game. That isn't to say this game is bad (it isn't), but it's difficult to compare the two in quality. PoE is pretty good about getting the vibe of BG2, however. After I beat POE I'm def going to go back and replay BG2.

You will probably disagree with me but , think creating new races, talents and spells for this game was a bad idea. They probably spent tons of time creating those spells and talents but most of them are still pretty generic and boring. I don't know if it was a legal problem but d&d 3.5 or maybe a newer version could be good.
I seriously want a new neverwinter nights or icewind dale game after playing this

Creating spells and skills takes very little effort in a game like this. Balance is the real time consumer, and while the balance isn't that far off (basically every caster has some OP spells), that wasn't a huge time investment either. Creating a single sidequest storyline is probably more time consuming than an entire level worth of spells.

I have to agree about the mobs feeling all the same. I'm (the equivalent of) 40h+ in on Hard, and I have only learned that shadows/shades don't like fire. Everything else is exactly the same gameplan: pull, tight formation, use all free skils, and maybe a few spells. Most of the time, you only pull half the mobs and slaughter them anyway.

Honestly, the biggest point holding me back is my mechanics level. You need a character with +2 starting mechanics, otherwise you have to go back to the +1 inn all the time. I kinda wish there was a +1 or 2 mechc item somewhere, or if there is one, that it isn't so damn hard to find. It could even have a huge drawback, I don't care, I'll give all my gold for it.
