First thing to do like was suggested earlier is to pick an easier country to play.
for the love of god do not fucking play Austria first.
Once you understand how the HRE works and all then play Austria, few things are as satisfying as pulling out 1mil+ vassal units and destroying the entire world at once. For a starter HRE country i'd recommend Brandenburg or Bohemia even.
Trying to revoke as Austria when you arent certain about events or how anything works is usually gonna end up with you having a lot of wasted time tbh. Since they made France Historical Rival to Austria it makes having someone to carry you through wars a whole lot fuckin harder
Ottomans are always good too, Poland is fairly easy to start with due to large army early game. Muscovy is decent as well although i feel weakened a lot this patch tbh. France if you wanna be super rich and just fight a whole lot, Castile/Portugal to play the colony game too.

Best beginner countries are imo Portugal and the Ottomans.
Portugal lets you chill and colonize, while figuring out how the game generally works.
Ottomans start in a good spot with a bunch of very easy/early conquests making them damn stronk and after that you have a bunch of options in exploring conquest. They also have a lot of missions, so you aren't completely lost on what to do next.

I think u learn it the best if you choose a rather big country and then you watch a lets play with that country. Just the first few steps so you know how to get a good foothold.
Helped me the most and i didnt play any other Paradox game beforehand
Stuff like warfare and so on is not that important at first imho, most important is smart expanding and making good peacedeals.
and for beginners the biggest advice i would give is, never EVER get above 50 Aggressive Expansion

I'm not sure if I'd recommend watching people play at the start, especially not very good people. Most people who start have no idea what stuff does and so won't understand what's happening. Esp. since amazing players like DDRJake will have a lot of stuff just memorized or pre-planned.
Having somebody to play with who can explain basic stuff is likely very helpful though.
I second not starting in the HRE (Germany), the typical behavior for newbies is to no-cb + Show Spoiler + attack a neighbor without a reason for war, so called casus belli or cb
Also most HRE-countries aren't exactly safe either.
AI Ottomans almost never fails though, so that's definitely the nation to start with.

There is one country mentioned by all who propsed something - Ottomans. Thats a nice indicator.

I played Ottomans first without any sentimental reasons and it was the game I proceed really far first. Gets you a really nice foothold of the game except colonization. Even though I colonize Philippines, Indonesia and Australia with the massive un-colonization penalties.
Ottomans = recommended for sure.

I played my first couple games as France, which worked out for me. Besides that I'd recommend Brandenburg and Ottomans.

Ok I managed to finally get off to a start, united Japan, but now Im stuck in tech because I have no access to Renaissance. I looked online and it told me to go to New World and come in contact with European colony - which I did, but it's still not doing anything.

The way pricing usually works for paradox titles is that you can get everything released so far (except sometimes the newest addon) for that game rather cheaply every so often, ~30-40€, at which point they release a new addon for about 10-15€, which doesn't get cheap for about a year or so. So you can constantly buy stuff at full price if you enjoy the game at that point, and it is not that big of a hurdle to jump into a game even if there are already a bunch of expansions for that game.

What I ended up having to do as Muscovy when i wanted to press my advantage was develop a province until the Renaissance is present.
Honestly thats the best way to do it as a far east country i think, will let you stay on par with the europeans and stay ahead of the other shitter countries there

like it'll show you tax/production/manpower then have like : printing press 2.55(or any number higher the more developed) and it'll add that to the province.
if you have no base growth for the institute it wont grow until you get it to 100% then it will begin going to your other provinces

I just finished my first (and probably last) World Conquest.
Played Ottomans and tried OneTag but i feel like i wont manage to clear all remaining subject in time left (10 years).
Anyway World Conquest finished on 15 March 1810. Army loses during campaign 25,6mln (half battle halft attrition). 17610 devlopment owned directly at time of WC. Vassals: Poland, Nitra, Leon, Mantua, Jianzhou. One client state in Ireland/Britain and one Protectorate in Africa. Despite failing at OneTag i am pretty happy. At least i played as proper Otto not stinky Koptomans.

If all holy sites are under control. At least I assume you are talking about the coptic faith. All of them pretty possible to get early on since they are in the middle east and a bit south. Doesn't have to be you that own them either, just somebody of that faith. You lose the sultanate government though, so it is a trade off.

Yeah, this is the best way as far as I can tell
Farmlands have 5% cheaper development, if merchant estate has 60+ influence and 60+ loyalty they give 10% development discount, and if you are big enough your cap gets big discounts as well
stack it all up and get an institution in a province for like 1200some monarch points
