This Siege of Shanghai map really sucks though, I have to say. I don't like how the map is cut in half by the water, it makes it seem like east and west are two separate maps. The skyscraper gimmick is really lame too, I like how they added destructible buildings, but it's really noticeable and bizarre that the giant skyscraper can be taken down, but no other buildings can, it's this glaring inconsistency that makes me feel like the building demolition shouldn't even be there if it's not taken to the appropriate scope.
Imagine how lame it would be if Red Faction had come out and the gimmick was that there was one wall on the map that was destructible.
Red faction 2 did this quite a lot. Very little was fully destructible
I feel Bad company 2 is still the best game regarding destructible objects. The houses looked like shit and all, but you actually could destroy most of them.

That's why they reduced it. They thought BC2 had too much destruction (not sure I agree with them). They are trying to do a balance not too little, but not too much either.
It's not in for players. Once in a while Dice employees go and play commander on random servers. There might be some official servers where they mostly do that? I haven't bothered checking.
I've come across a commander 3 times or so during beta.
They released a new update today (maybe you have to check for updates in origin library) it again gave me some performance improvements and a friend who has win 7 got massive fps improvements.
Also bragpost: Im currently Nr.1 MAA in the world.

It improved my fps a little bit, but more importantly it doesn't flucate between 30-18 or 60-25 anymore for me. Although 50+ fps like in BF3 would be ideal I'm already happy I have a stable fps now.

I love commanders helps to fix rooftop mass snipers quite a bit. And helps with really entrenched tank positions as well.
Rooftops are important, it's people that are using them in a bad way, "noobishly". I think good analogy would be ghosts, noob will use them to nuke probes and get SICK EXPLOSION, while a good guy will emp the shit out of caster/shields and just win the game. Good recon/engi combo can lock down the sky with how good new RPG are (they are too good if you ask me). Proper high ground recon with spotting is so important for ground assault. Just because people are stupid doesn't mean it's bad.
As far as obliteration mode goes I like it a lot. It has same problem like normal games, retarded team mates, crashing helis, camping roofs etc. but so far it produced a lot of good games for me and some intense moments. Shanghai is great map for this, it plays out perfectly with symmetry of two islands. I don't know how is it going to be on other maps. It has incredible potential for clan/platoon wars.

It worked well on the smaller maps but on a long 64 player map likeconquest large it would be no good, and the scale is too large for most things to handle I think. Though I loved blowing up BC2 buildings and people dying inside of them.

Can vouch. He's logged thousands of hours in helicopters over the course of Battlefield's history. I always felt like I'm superb in aircraft (I'm a tryhard with flight sticks / throttle and a big flight sim nerd), but this guy wrecks me.
Ugh. Im so conflicted whether or not to buy this game. I know if I want to buy it, I'd have to get the premium package as well. -___- but I dunno if it would be worth. The beta has been a blast though..
