It's still a beta and I got no problems on W7. I was just wondering if there is still no way to lock the minimap (spinning)?

Nothing they probably are just using DX11.1/2 features that are in windows 8 but not in windows 7. Plus considering a ton of people can't even play the game due to w.e bullshit reason blame it on poor coding and how WMMD 1.2 handles frames better.

An update to the beta has been rolled out today. I don't have it and it's not completely clear what it does, if anything, for the performance issues.
In other news, DICE have made a post on their forum asking for people who are having performance issues to submit some info in order for them to diagnose the issue:

Hopefully it's not a difficult fix for them considering we're 3 weeks away from release!

That was a problem they had with BF3 also; hopefully they're proficient with trouble shooting the issue.
They've definitely got a lot of work to do, which is a shame because the core game is looking very, very good.

I installed win 8.1 today and it fixed my fps drops. I had huge fps drops before (down to 14 sometimes) now it never drops below 50 with all on ultra except the AA stuff and ambient occlusion. With everything except mesh quality on low, AA off it rarely ever drops below 60. Yesterday after the update i lost like 30fps (down to 45) now its back up to 70-75 on average

Would be nice if anyone knew exactly why this seems to be the case.

Plus the whole thing where you pay a fee if you're a big time studio using DirectX to produce their game, plus other things to buy microsoft's support and doctumentation/tools.

Ok so obliteration gamemode is live. Its got a Tank, AH, Transport, Jeeps, Jetski and most importantly a MAA. God i love that thing so far im 67-3 with it. It does a lot more damage to inf than bf3 and quite some damage (~37 per burst to front) to armor, the helis dont melt as easy as they did in bf3 but still good enough. LAV-AD has screenshake too now and spreadincrease is rather high. Both MAAs can swim now but the LAV-AD seems to be more controlable in the water. LAV-AD has wheels chinese one has treads. Already unlocked Thermal Camo, IRNV Optics and Autoloader (starts out with Zoom, Heatseekers and Maintenance). Im using Autoloader and Zoom right now, IRNV is kinda nice (like the prebuff bf3 one) but i feel zoom is much more viable atleast when 3d spotting is on. Heatseekers seem useless so far, i can kill enemy air easier with the minigun. People were raging a lot when i was in it and tried to c4, c4 jeep, c4 heli, reptool me a lot after a while just like in bf3, i fucking love it.

Fuck those rooftops man. Is obliteration any good on this map? I can't imagine it so.

Obliteration is much better than conquest in my opinion

As an XBOX 360 Battlefield 3 player I am very impressed with how much better the PC version is. I just dropped $2,000 on a new rig and the graphics are fantastic in comparison.
This Siege of Shanghai map really sucks though, I have to say. I don't like how the map is cut in half by the water, it makes it seem like east and west are two separate maps. The skyscraper gimmick is really lame too, I like how they added destructible buildings, but it's really noticeable and bizarre that the giant skyscraper can be taken down, but no other buildings can, it's this glaring inconsistency that makes me feel like the building demolition shouldn't even be there if it's not taken to the appropriate scope.
Imagine how lame it would be if Red Faction had come out and the gimmick was that there was one wall on the map that was destructible.

I feel like Obliteration really rewards great teamplay. If you are playing solo and the enemies got a full squad who know what they are doing, prepare to get obliterated (pun intended). Otherwise it's a cool new mod to play once in a while, it's really funny to experience the hate of the whole enemy team once you are carrying the bomb.
Sadly, even in Obliteration the whole map is full of rooftop camping. I just wish Dice would put most rooftops out of the "game zone" It's fine if they are camping rooftops on C and D, but every rooftop on the map? Come on, that's too much.
|
Then again if the chopper pilots know what they are doing, there wont be anybody on the roofs lol.
|
Mortars will hopefully go a long way in fixing the roof camping problem.

Remove claymores from release version. Add elevator to all skyscrapers.

Red faction 2 did this quite a lot. Very little was fully destructible
